Just curious. Are your gym's tryouts real tryouts where they actually turn people away....or are they really just to see what team you'll be placed on?

some gyms do turn poeple away well as others see what level team you will be on. I KNow my gyms has all the same age levels practice together during the summer where as if ur 8-14 you practice with the jrs and 15-18 you practice as a sr and you practice as youth and whatever else then, at the begining of august they have a try out and they put you an a level for what the skills you have accomplihed over the summer time. I think this is a good bonding experience for every one at the gym

In all our years of all star cheerleading I have never seen or heard of a gym turning people away. Not ever. Has anyone else?

I have too, but it was due to the timing. If you try out late and the teams have been set, unless you are bring a skill that is needed you are turned away, at least my kid was. However; it was the best thing that happened to us, we ended up on a WWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYY better team.
Yes, if you try out late, I can understand. But turning people away right after initial tryouts? I've never seen it. You may not make the team you want, but I highly doubt you will ever be turned away.

I agree, my girls have been in all star cheer several years now and I have never seen anyone turned away. Not since youth and high school where there are only a limited number of spots on each squad.
