Junior Teams At Worlds

I was just sitting thinking about worlds and this came to mind. All of the jr teams in cali that got world bids are amazing at what they do, but with this new rule that only 3 teams make it to finals and after seeing the other teams that got bids i dont really think its worth going. Not saying their not really good teams and havent really stepped it up this year, its just that so has everyone else. If i was a coach or owner at one of these gyms what i would do is all a couple senior age kids and go for some kind of bid as a senior team. They are all more than capable of doing so. Why pay all that money to go to worlds as a jr teams with only 3 teams out of like 20 amazing teams make it to finals when you could go as a sr team and have a great chance of at least compeating in finals? I know i would much rather go knowing we are a jr team competing in the senior division and place 25th then go jr and not even make it to finals. Take cali small junior for instance (because they are my favorite biggrin) They scored a 9.598 at NCA and place 2nd in the small junior division, But at worlds there is no small and large in junior. So, if you compare their score to all of the large junior teams from NCA they would have placed 6th out of 7 barley beating the last place team.

What do you all think?

I think your right it is a tough space to be in, and I really think after traveling that far it is a sad thing for the kids, parents and entire club, but just to say you went to worlds in 2008 especially with the economy the way it is right now is an honor in and of itself.

That being said as a parent of a JR team girl going to worlds it's " A LOT OF MONEY FOR THE HONOR" but we all get so caught up in winning we forget about the kids, I know my daughter will never forget this time and she is so excited about going she talks about it everyday, and if a time comes and we can not cheer anymore, or she never goes to worlds with her senior team, she will always have "WORLDS 2008."smile.gif

I agree. Our team probably will not make it finals (obviously we hope that they do), but the experience is what it's all about for my family. My kids have worked extremely hard (i'm sure everyone has) and I want them to reap the benefits. Walt Disney World is so much fun and if they do not make it to the second day that's OK. We will have a blast regardless of their placing. Godd luck to all that represent cali!!!

No to be off topic, but does anyone have cheergyms.com junior routine from GSSA. I heard it was flawless and jampacked but I missed it. Thanks.
