Yeah, I see what you are saying and I agree.   With today's economy it might be more likely a family with level 5 athletes will only be able to afford one gym, and they will most likely choose the one with level 5 teams.   This next season will be a good indication of how this works.

I really think the concept is great.  I do agree with this posting as well.  The economy is tight.  People are starting to hold on to their money more then ever.  It would be extremely difficult to try to pay fees for two gyms.  Maybe a deal will be cut at some point..for the first season.  The scheduling will be another factor.  Gyms will have to really think this through to ensure they have no conflicts.  Let's not forget that these athletes still go to school.  As much as these athletes love cheerleading, school is still first.

I don't have a problem with this. Cheergyms did it this year, so did Power and NCE they just didn't advertise it. I guess this is the way of the future if some of these gyms want to stay competitive in level 5. My point is that with the ecomony not being that good right now, and I think most are effected by it. I wonder how many families can afford to send thier kids to to two different programs choiceswill have to be made. I think it's a smart business move on all these larger gyms part. I just see the smaller gyms coming out on the shorter end of the stick I guess. If I'm not mistaken enrollment at a lot of the gyms was down this year. I just see it as a good recuiting tool. I'm just curious to see how many kids actually do this. Right now one girl from CX is on Powers Lg Sr 5, one from CX is on NCE, AP has two, or 3 on All American. We will just have to wait to see if this catches on I guess.

I believe NCE has 3 girls from CX on their coed 5 team

Actually I think this whole thing is a MESS!! Honestly I think people are blaming the economy, "drama" and these other issues as EXCUSES! Train your kids the best you can do and let the chips fall as they may. Seriously whats the motivation for you to train your kids on layouts and fulls if they will just join these supposed "powerhouse" teams. Alot of gyms here in Nor Cal are overpriced, undercoached, and just don't deliver. You then have to question yourself, why are you in business to send those athletes to another gym, whatever the reason. I know cheergyms.com started it, but this is a BAD trend. Hopefully the USASF will step in and say something about it. I don't agree with this at all.

No, only one.  Two girls were on CX last year but not this season.

So NCE did this before Cheergyms???  I didn't know that.  I just remember all the negative commments about it when they first announce it..

No, sorry for the confusion.  Meant that two of the three girls on NCE this season that the post is referring to are not on CX this year.  Only two girls on CX are on level 5 teams, one with Power, one with NCE.

This all makes for a really interesting discussion.  My guess is the big gyms are for it, the small gyms are not, and the customers/members might be caught in the middle but I would think they are for it if it means an inexpensive way to be on a level 5 team.   Or at least a cheaper way than last season.

From my reading the power website, it will be the same tuition for all, not just kids doing five as an "extra" which imo is only fair. Why should there be a discount for being on two teams?

Odd, NCE only has about 8 true level 5 cheerleaders

I guess if your parents can handled the added expenses then why not pay the full season for both gyms.  I would bet there are more parents on the opposite side of the financial fence that can't afford this, yet they have an extremely talented cheerleader.  I guess it comes down  to the how bad does POWER, CheerGyms want this extremely talented team?

It's kinda like many gyms allowing male cheerleaders to cheer for free.  The gym owners need these guys and know the team needs the guys and they want that national title so the bill is paid for them.

I think it is the opposite. I think it all comes down to how bad the true level 5 athletes want it. Cheergyms and Power ALREADY have talented teams. Power has one and Cheergyms has 2-3. These kids by no means are making those programs. It comes down to athletes wanting to be a part of true National contenders that secure paid bids and do well at Worlds. Cheergyms and Power both offer that, so it is very inviting for athletes to want to come to those programs

There are times the coaches want it more than the cheerleaders.  If this wasn't the case than any coaches would settle with having a couple of rebuilding years and not worrying about having attending WORLDS for a few season.  However, once you have acheived the status of WORLDS there is no turning back.  The gym has to perform at that level or else.  Or else what?  The level 5 cheerleaders will leave their current gyms and seek a gym that has the best shot at WORLDs the following season.  It's a vortex that the gym owner can't climb out of.

Its funny these programs keep boasting Worlds down your throat, since they keep saying "wanting to place better at worlds." Ummmm those are the ONLY teams really going to Worlds. I think the main reasin is because of how old those gyms are, not necessarily better, but just more established. Just give the other gyms 3-5 years and they will be just as good. Power wasn't always as good as they are now. Also to me if your advertising to only come to one practice a week at your gym to be on a level 5 team, then your gym must be hurting for level 5 kids. I know they will say different, but you don't see other major gyms advertising like this.

this is the first ive seen advertising from power, but they werent the first to advertise like this. i really dont think power is hurting for kids. IMO, they get kids going to their gym because the kid's old gym couldnt provide a good program?

next year should be interesting. CANT wait!! biggrin

Or...... for them it's all about the win!  For some parents THEY are all about the win and not teaching their child it's ok to NOT always be first.  If a family leaves a gym for that reason, then they just do not get it.  It does not mean the gyms program was bad.blankstare

It doesn't mean it's just about the win, it's the opportunity to work on or develop skills in an environment you may not have with your smaller gym.

It does not say that they are only practicing once a week. They will practice twice a week- 3 hours each practice. It is the same hours as they practice right now, just one less day. 3 days a week at the gym can be hard so they are tryin only two so the kids can have a life doing other activites. Just an FYI.

It is tryout time people. People advertise what is going on in their program.  Power and Cheergyms have been around for voer ten years. They both have had great years and not so great year. I am sure they will have good and bad in the future as well. I think people are so interested in what both of those programs do and they like to pick at everything they do.

Try-outs will come, Worlds will pass, summer will come and things will slow down and we can all get tans.

how can nce only have 8 "true" level 5 cheerleaders if their whole tumbling is all fulls. and they don't recycle in their sequence. If they made it to worlds they obivously know how to work it with what they have to complete "true" level 5 teams.
