which comes first.. a prom or a competition?

what does everyone think of missing a prom or senior ball for nationals or other large competition? what does everyone think of quitting a team to attend these dances?
-from one point of view, you are only in highschool once, and these events hold the memories we will keep with us our whole lives
-from another point, all star cheerleading has given many memories. it is one dance, whereas for many of us, cheergyms.com is a large part of our lives, and will bring more smiles and emotions than any one night wearing a prom dress ever could. I know many girls, and boys, who would wear their cheer uniform over a prom dress or tux, if it came to that

how does everyone else feel on the issue! which is more important to you, or your cheerleader?

i think it would be a bad idea to quit. Think about it, if you are a junior this would be your last year to be able to be on pyramids bc if you quit you cannot do it senior year. I understand how big of a deal jr prom may be but come on, you signed up for year round knowing you would have to possible miss out on things like this. I think it would be a bad idea to let the whole team down like that. plus you still must pay the money so why quit?!

It's really up to you my junior year on pyramids we were suppose to be in florida the same weekend as junior prom. At that point I would have not gone to the comp and gone to junior prom but after gogin to prom its just not the same feeling as beign at a compeititon with your team. We ended up not going to florida for different reasons but, the decision is ultimatly your choice. Your the one it effects the most you have to look into yourself and see which decision is the right one for you.

i PERSONALLY am not even in this situation. I just know some girls who are having to choose between prom and cheer. Some right away know that for them a competition and their team is more important than a prom. Others are having a hard time choosing.
if it were me, cheer comes first. its what i LIVE for, and one prom will not make a difference in the long run.

In the grand scheme of things, it is one prom. You have another year left. True you might have the same problem next year but what is more important to the ALL STAR? Quitting in my eyes is not an option. As an adult, I can not quit my job if I have to work on my birthday, the day of a college formal or anything else. It is that vaule that my parents taught me. As a parent, you should ask yourself, what kind of standards and vaules or you teaching your child by allowing them to quit? Are they prepared to give up cheering this year and next for one night?

cheerleading...if you signed up to be on one of the teams you should be commited to the team and not leave them in the dust for nationals or another big competition, and if you want to leave the team in the dust youre obviously not commited and you shouldnt have tried out for the team....but for now.....i guess it sucks for you because quiting is no way to treat youre team that has practiced the routien with you there and if you leave, there going to have to change some of the parts right before the next competion and that can lead to screwing it up....so i say cheerleading before prom
