not going to mention the gyms name because there is no need to..but alot of kids are leaving a gym because all the gym focuses on is the coed team and i am sure there ae alot of good people on their other teams but they just do not focus enough on them..what are your opinions on that?

stuff like this irks me. I think good programs are gyms whose teams can go out on the floor and majority of the teams will take first or second. Gym that kids are scared to compete against because they are good kind of like stingrays and cheer athletics. I hate seeing over here on the west coast especially that the focus is so much on the higher level teams in the gym. It is really starting to make gyms suffer in numbers. We are trying sooo hard to keep up with the big dogs that some of the gyms foget about lower levels I think level 5 driven gyms are kind of pitiful. while we all strive to be level 5 athletes it is not fair for all the level 1-4 kids who are paying the same amount of money and to kind of be pushed to the side and show up at competition and never take a first place. I have seen this season especially more than ever. I know i said something about one gym on here and someone from their gym came back and said- well we have ____ world bid(S)-i think we are good<<<something along those lines- while the rest of the teams in their gym are on the back burner. I know you were talking about favoring the coed team but i thoght this could relate to that. anyways-thanks for letting me rant.

The sad  thing is there are clubs out there that favor one team in their gym at any level.  I know a gym that favors their Junior 3/4 team over their other teams.  There is even a gym that funds the competition fees from many team members on their elite team.  Where is the money coming from?  The other parents working the firework booths, car washes, etc.  I guess what I am saying is it don't have to be a level 5 team to get special treatment.  It is difficult to watch and listen to week after week if your daughter is not on the favored team.  And that just not right.  All teams should be getting the same treatment acrossed the board.  Someone mentioned that a gym needs to take first or second place at every level to be successful.  I don't know about that.  I do know that the kids in the gym definitely know if their is one favored team.  Consistancy matters no doubt about it.

i think your missing the point. because that gym does have a lot of focus on their coed team but all the teams have their own coaches except for the all girl which does deserve more focus. they do what they do for their own reasons and i'm sure they're realizing what is wrong and are working better towards it for following seasons. that gym is about family.

Yes it is sad that this gym does focus on its coed level 5 team.  The other teams should get the same attendtion.  What will happen when the kids from that coed level 5 team age out next year?

they are haters... obviously from smaller less succesful programs... they speculate and have no idea what goes on in that gym... all of the teams at CA recieve AMAZING instruction... thats why they sweep every comp that they go to on the west coast... and if you are there during practices you would see that EVERY level 5 team in there gets WORKED everyday... and it is a business so they can do whatever they want with their money... like scholarship whoever they want to have a better team

I want to quit the gym I am at now and take my daughter to a gym that will teach the right cheerleading skills, advance each students tumbling skills instead of having a couple of kids hold the team, etc. The problem I run into is my other half doesn't want to do the commute. He can handle all the BS and just says lets wait and see . How do you approach the other half that is not so willing to quit and move to another gym that is far but will give you everything that you pay for?

AMEN! Yes, as a coach its tough when anyone chooses to leave your program or not return. If you're like me you try not to take it personal, but when you invest time, energy, and love into each one of your athletes it hard to see them go. There is something to be said for lessons of loyalty and commitment. These are lessons that are learned through experience, something parents should encourage their children to value. However, you should not stay at a program if you are not happy...but quitting in the middle of the season teaches your children nothing more than to be a quitter (unless of course there was some kind of emotional or physical abuse taking place). Sometimes you do things that you dont want to do, because it is the RIGHT thing to do.

If you are not happy I would suggest to:
1. Talk to the gym owner about your concerns...they run a service business and youd be surprised at how receptive they can be and how they truly do want to please their customers
2. look into other programs via websites, phone calls
3. Leave at the appropriate time...end of the season..this way you are not negatively affecting your child or their team that they have committed to for however many months or even years

Just a side note: THE GRASS IS NOT ALWAYS GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE, lol...again, teaching your children values such as teamwork, commitment, perseverance, loyalty, hard work etc...are all invaluable tools to help make them successful adults...isnt that what cheerleading is about, providing them with lifelong tools? Honestly, what kind of career will your daughter get with a full? Its all of the things she had to learn and do to get that full that will help her in life. Be sure to keep things in perspective and to put some serious VALUE on what is truly importantThe development of your children.

you say this like its a bad thing, who cares what anybody calls anybody!  If you arent getting what you need then Hop Hop Hop away...I can tell you first hand it could be the best decision you have ever made.  When you get to that better place just look back at those namecallers and wave bye bye as they have the problem if they need to talk about you.
