I am jumping into this thread and talking in general...doesn't it seem nation wide that there seems to be contrevesy (sp?) about bids...multiple bids, changing bids etc. Is it confusion because the comp companies don't understand the USASF rules themselves. I am forever seeing threads like this one, though many are blaming teams of dirty deeds when isn't it really the comp companies who need to make sure bids are handed out properly??? Should comp companies be asking teams before they compete their bid status...whether they would want a new bid etc (upgrading so to speak). There may be more to it than I understand.
There is a reason why so many of the programs that went for a bid, did not take any of their other teams. Thought they would give the bid a try because there was so many being given out. But go figure, USA (shady).

Why don't people just give this a rest. What's done is done and whom ever didn't receive a bid at this comp that was going for one, I'm sure they've received one by now. This has become a total yawner..

OH! I just woke from my nap and yup still a yawner..
Has anyone counted in the factor of the new rule regarding bids being passed down?
If a team declines a bid, that bid CAN NOT be passed down to the next team.
If you've read any of the prior posts, or the rules, you would know that bids cannot be passed down after the competition is over. But during a competition, yes. So that is the issue. During the competition, those who had bids should have passed them down, right there and then. But for some odd reason USA did not know who already had bids before passing them out, and gyms did not decline them immediately. Now it is too late I imagine.

some of these teams had partial paid bids going in to this Nationals. why would USA think those teams would accept an at large bid is beyond logic. it's obvious that going into their Nationals USA had no idea who did or did not have bids. and to think USA's Pres is on the USASF Board of Directors

It should NOT be too late if the ERROR was MADE AT the comp. It will be interesting to see what they (USA) will do if anything.
Mike has not returned ALL calls since questions have arrised.
He actually has been out at USA nationals every weekend. He just had High School Nationals and then prior to that he had Youth Nationals. I recieved a call back from him last week about it, before GSSA and then we missed each other and finally spoke today when he returned my call. Yes it is true that USA decided to offer a bid to Victory Cheer instead of Fusion. The scores were very close and after long consideration and the fact that Fusion Juniors already had a bid he decided to offer the bid to Victory so that more Cali teams could represent at Worlds! He said that he spoke the the owners of Fusion and they understood and he is happy to have Victory represent USA.
He was very open and honest about the mistake that was made on their side and took care of it as soon as possible. He liked the fact that I called and asked instead of listening to the message board chatter. So yes, Fusion did beat Victory by a close margin and USA still decided to give the bid to Victory. The companies have that discretion. Goodluck Victory, nice groups of coaches and girls.
nicole, do you know if fusion and victory (4th and 5th in their small division) scored higher than stars extreme and nor cal elite coed (3rd and 4th in coed division), and so this is why victory received the at large bid, instead of stars extreme?
Right, that is the main issue that started this thread, I believe. Should Stars Extreme have received the bid. If the scores were posted we would already know.
It is my understanding that you must tell the hosting comp. company whether or not you will accept a bid ahead of time. Also, If I am correct and I know this to be the fact at Cheersport. The judges have the descretion to give the bids to whomever they want. It could be the 2nd place team rather that the 1st place team etc. Another words you can have an off day, still show great potential and not be passed up?? Interesting
GOOD GOD!! Let it rest. Now just focus on the gyms that ARE going and rooting them on instead of complaining that a fourth or fifth place team in Northern California does not get to go to Worlds against the tops in the world. No offense, but is "just going" worth the fundraising and pinching pennies for parents? If so, I am completly wrong. Let's send our best from California. If they have won these partial and paid bids, then they deserve the chance to go try and bring it home to Cali. If not why bother having bids, and just give out cash awards and let everyone who can afford it go.
