I agree...dumb judges! ;) But what team would I choose not to be in the Super Six so that Airborne could have? I dunno!! They were all soooo good!!

I know one day soon Airborne will be there (in the Super Six) and I'm feeling pretty good about them being in Worlds this year! Go Airborne!

Actually we wont.  We feel that any company that does not use a score sheet to figure out money prizes and bids is not a  company we want to support.  So you will not be seeing us at GSSA.

who told this idea about no score sheets?  I am so lost on why a company would do this?  Was this from a reliable source.  Airborne will get the bid at Jamz, no questions asked.  You know you try your best and you learn from it.  I am sorry if GSSA was that cold towards your gym.  Take care.

I love Airborne and I feel like they have got lots better but I do not think they are better than
Power large- no
Power small-no
AA Small Coed- No
American Large- No
Stars Extreme-No
NorCal - No ( althought this is closer)

GSSA did not pick on Airborne. They are getting better but were just not good enough to break into this really tough top 6.

Interesting...since Jamfest owns GSSA will Airborne be boycotting Jamfest as well?

No, Norcal's routine was not closer to Airborne's, it was right up there with Stars Extreme on up.  From what I saw it was very close between everyone under Power, especially with a dropped stunt from one of the teams.   But without scoresheets it's hard to know.  I don't blame them for being upset about that part of it.

Airborne is not complaining about the Super 6. They are complaining about not getting into the Super 6. They have the scores for both Saturday and Sunday. All of the programs do. They should not exactly what the scores are for all of the teams. They used ordinals for the Super 6.

Does Airborne not think that the placement of the super 6 was correct ?

Don't get me wrong, I like Airborne -- no disrespect to your program.  The other teams were just better than you guys.  Didn't Airborne place last on the Small division?  Your routine was, honestly, boring.  I think the judge's made the right decisions as to who made it to Super 6.  There's always next year.   Good Luck in Portland.

maybe it takes a few years at level 5 before a team is truly deserving of a world bid.? Or can a new team make it the first time out?

Let's say Airborne gets the at-large bid in Portland.  You raise the money to go to World's.  As a coach and cheerleaders, do you think you'll pass prelims?

This is just based on what has been posted on here so far, I don't know that Anon413 even has any affliation with Airborne at all (especially since Nicole has not confirmed/denied this).....

I didn't read this as the poster saying Airborne feels personally wronged by this comp.  Instead, they don't feel that a comp should be passing out grand prize money and bids based on judges oral statements, there should be a score sheet.  Since they don't agree with how the comp was "handled" (not the word I'm looking for), they are choosing not to attend in the future...something that many on here have said to do if you don't like the way a company is run (THAT'S the word I was looking for!).

Hey Everybody,

Airborne in no way is stating that they deserved to be in the top 6.  Someone just stated that after the fact they thought it was strange that they heard that a score sheet was not used for super six.  The scores in the Small Senior 5 division were very close with OC, Nor Cal and Us.  It really came down to that first day performance, we had 4.5 in deductions from situations that rarely occur.  The girls are aware that they had mistakes.  Cheerleading is 'day of' sport.  Sometimes you have good days and bad. This competition was not the weekend for Senior 5.  Does this make them feel that they are incapable of getting a bid?  NO!  They got in the gym tonight and worked even harder then they have in the past.

Of course we will raise the money to go if we get any kind of bid.  What an honor it would be to go to such an amazing event.  Our kids wouldnt see it as going and possibly getting past prelims.  They are so excited to be competing level 5 and would be happy to attend and learn from the experience.  I think that everyone has become so judgemental about paid, partial and at large.  Some great teams obtain at large bids and do great at Worlds.  Didnt some of the Northern Cali teams get at large bids last year?

On the matter of us not returning to GSSA, that is something that I will decide on and we may or may not return, depending on scheduling and what is best for my program.  Also, Jamfest has a different scoring system then GSSA.  We have never been to a Jamfest event so I am unsure if we will attend those in the future.

Once again, thanks for the support .  To those of you that dont think we are level 5 material or worlds material, we hope to prove you all wrong and hopefully you will learn to respect that hard work and dedication it takes to compete at that level.  Off to Portland.

Nicole Nicosia

That is how I took it too.   I have to agree it is bizarre that the judges just sit back and watch the super 6 routines, then discuss it among themselves without any kind of scoring involved.  How do any of the teams know how close they were to winning, or even more important, why they lost?   Do any other competition companies do this?

So why do you feel that the Airborne's routine was boring?  I feel that they had the same skills set that the other level 5 teams had.  What made OC's routine more exciting?

I think if anyone should be pissed it should be the girls of Power Large. Had they used a score sheet, there is no way that their small should have beaten the large team. The large routine is better and more difficult that the small one. The Small team is great, but that large team is just off the charts. I think after that they placement was pretty much right on, scoresheet or not

Yes a whole topic about Airborne!  They work hard and look great and are getting better and better each day they are in the gym.  They are a great competitor and everyone should keep an eye on them.  I think they are very deserving of an entire topic.  I hope they get a bid and make it past prelims not only so their kids can acheive such a great accomplishment but to prove all the "opinions" wrong!

Good luck in Portland and at JAMZ.  I will be cheering for ALL you Airborne girls!  I can't wait!!!!!

Actually rumor has it that Power large was behind Power small going into the whole super six division!  I was a little surprised about this too but keep in mind, power large had a fall in their routine on Saturday and i heard they had a touch down on tumbling (i didn't see this though).  So I think that Power small is capable of beating Power large.  But you're right, Power large had the more difficult stunts but it's because they have more girls on their team to do more.
