I'm sorry I don't agree with some teams going to worlds simply because they got first.... How can someone hold for 6 counts in their pyramid and then be told they had an amazing pyramid? What the heck? You must cheer there!
What if you had 36 kids- 10 female fulls and 3 male fulls - do what!? Do you REALLY think any team like that would have a chance against FULL squad fulls like either CA (calif or cheer ath) Or spirit of texas or maryland or ace or top gun or anyone!? That's not world calibur and I'd be ticked if a team like that would receive a bid over a team who THREW the level 5 skills and maybe placed 2nd or 3rd. Several times, those teams who placed 2nd or 3rd were 10 times better than the team that got first in an "easy" division. Heck yes give the bid to the 2nd 3rd or even 4th place team! Watch the mr video, compare, pass out bids
Maybe any squad with less than 1/3rd of the team throwing a required skill should move down a level? spiritsports gives out level drop forms for teams who throw skills lower than their level. Do you agree that just because the skill isn't "thrown" that they're not publicizing it? having 2/3rds the team throw nothing makes it soooo obvious? CA threw layouts and got a paid bid- clean routines get bids. Better routines get bids. Skills get bids. Who cares if they got 1st or 5th.
As a coach- Throwing 36 kids into level 5 competition when they're not ready only hurts your gym. Would you put your team in level 3 if only 5 kids had the tuck? No. Some of these squads shouldn't be level 5. I saw a team from san louis that had level 5 tumbling but not level 5 stunts. Ok I'm going to find a new post to ramble on..
Actually I do not attend Stars Extreme, I did watch the video and I did not see the middle elevator hold for six counts, if anything she was lifting and throwing different skills and different people the majority of the time, yeah a show n go would of been nice inbetween but come on.
I would not throw any stones unless you cheer at gym that has the majority like you speak of. Lets not get into level 5 tumbling. Not many northern california teams have true level 5 tumbling on their team.
Hopefully you will show stars extreme that you believe you are stronger then them this weekend. Goodluck.
Oh no, I'm not going against them. I'm just not convinced. When I counted recycled tumblers and watched the pyramid for the 10th time this weekend I still wasn't. I don't know much about that team. Howeverm I've heard they're closing or being sold?
I'll make my gssa predictions on that board..
In general we were all talking about worlds and teams that are going to just smoke other teams. *top gun, hands down in unlim coed 5* And realistic expectations. These were just my expectations of level 5 gyms in general. You need inverted/creative pyramids. Not run-of-the-mill hitch pyramids. Super mega tumbling. A level 5 dance with 5 or 6 parts. Jump sequences with connected jumps followed by tucks. 11 or 12 pods. Tucks @ end of routine. Etc. Spirit sports' rubrick hits this nail on the head with this.
I've got a weekend off from cheer this week. I'm pretty stoked. And I'm going to bed now that hannah montana is off of leno :)
It seems as though Worlds bids aren't as special as they should be. We have teams placing 3rd or 4th in their division and they still get a bid...I think they are giving too many bids away.
We now have teams that have bids where less than half their team has the level 5 tumbling skills (fulls).
Take GSSA for example: Most of the level 5 teams going already have a bid....so that means that the other teams going will get one, even if they place 3rd or 4th?
What are your opinions?
It's level 5 and teams that are at third or fourth place are coming to World's and doing better than the teams that had beat them out at one of the other competitions. They are level 5 and they are still top teams. Especially when at competiitions like USA out of Anaheim California are not consistant with their judging. Remember it's level 5 and World's is held to a higher standard, then some of these so-called National Titles around the United States.
