"according to john" wow ok and that makes everything right? no. i do say that if you are concerned about the ncaa(still sounds like the college orginzation) you should go to the meeting in april and get more informed. is there something like this in southern ca too and if not then why not? are we pushing to hard up here in norcal for things that need to be handled from a state wide thing? just a thought? to tell the truth it all sounds like there are still a ton of things that need to be settled and answered but hey go to the meeting hear what has to be said and the decide................
Didn't think my post would be twisted like that, but okay. I was just quoting a portion of John's post to address the concern someone had about having to attend all the same competitions. Nobody would want to see the same teams at every single competition. Doesn't sound like that would be an issue. I think it has good intentions and could give us a voice when it comes to issues many of us have complained about right here on this board.
Yes, there is strength in numbers, and a strong alliance can help make changes. Nobody is forcing anyone to be a part of it.
Some people hate change and some welcome it. Change is good if it benifits others, if it's for self gain, then at some point it will not work out. ...... You will never know until you try. To sit back and cry about it at this point is foolish!
Regardless of it's goals or merits, calling the thing NCAA is silly. There is already an massive, incredibly well-known organization promoting athletic endeavors called the NCAA. Why in the world would you pick that? If the organizers weren't aware of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, then I would heavily question their knowledge of sports in general.
I wonder how far down a google search for NCAA you would have to go to find the Northern California All Star Alliance? Even if you put "NCAA Cheer" you would likely have to go into the millions before you found any reference to this group. Anyway, shouldn't it be the NCASA? Isn't putting "Northern California" in the title automatically limiting the potential scope of your group?
Other names you shouldn't use:
Western All Star Society of United Professionals (The "WASSUP!") California All-Star Cheerleading Association ("CACA") Society of Concerned All-Stars from Northern California ("SCANC") Golden State Collusion of All Stars ("GaSCAN") Federation of All Troubled Coaches and OWnerS ("FATCOWS")
For those who are regulars here lets just take a moment and do some reflecting. I believe it was just about 4 or5 months ago as the 07-08 season was just getting started that there was a topic of "too many competitions." (I could just be off a little on the exact title, and since I have a life I wont be going back to search for the exact title) Anyway, I believe the main flow of conversation in that thread was all around how people were disappointed in the amount of competitors in each division, how competitions were small, how the venues where not very good and how much entry fees cost for basically a horrible product of competition. So now, basically an entire season of competitions has passed and many would agree not all of the comps have been so spectacular (no pun attended to cheergyms Spirit Spectacular I actually enjoyed that one good job guys!!!) Now gym owners have decided to come together with the NCAA and fight back to get a better product for our competitors. In no way do I see anyone gym gaining more than another in this except to raise the quality of competitions for next year. They have even taken into consideration that they have the ability to get lower entry fees with the numbers that have come together. This really in my opinion can only help gyms, athletes and the parents. I really don't see why everyone is talking so much trash about this topic. How about the gyms don't do it and you all can just keep paying way too much for a really bad product and your kids will never get challenged or get better and can just keep getting a first place trophy because they didn't compete against anyone.
