What is tacky about that? After your name is called out, you get to celebrate for a moment, and then you move 10' off the mat. That is how they have always done it and it seems perfectly normal to me. It's not like they kick you out of the building - you can stay right on the edge of the mat if you want. Lots of competitions do it that way.
I guess when people aren't happy about their placements, they will look to anything, even something this trivial, to vent their frustrations on.
rightty oh. I see nothing wrong with this appoarch either. It's kinda cool to see the top two teams remaining on the floor. It reminds me of the Miss America/USA pagenants. Only two girls remain on the floor and only one has earned the title.
i can understand why you would think that being your first time at dallas. I have been to this competition before and dont consider it as them saying "you suck, get off my stage" Being the last 2 teams on the mat is an honor and an unforgetable moment and my coach says it is his dream to shake the other coaches hands, which happened for him this year. I know everyone has their own opinions, but maybe something to strive for next year would be to be one of the last teams on the mat.
Nice try, but your little attempt to get a dig in didn't work. I don't want to be in that position either, that was my first and hopefully last time attending that competition. Like I said before I was not impressed at all, and trust me we were not last ! But thanks anyway your opinion was greatly appreciated.
I wasn't there to witness how exactly NCA handled it, but this approach sounds fine to me.
The person before you didn't write or even imply that you or your team was in last. What they wrote was it's something to strive for, being the last two on the mat (in other words being first or second).
wow.. are all of you serious? FIrst off.. ive cheered for way to many years. There are very few competitions that compare to NCA. If it werent for NCA cheerleading wouldnt be what it is today. It's one of the most prestiges competitions around today. JAMZ and USA are no where in comparison. I was in Dallas this year and on the mat, no it was not rude. It's different, but not rude. The honor to represent your state and your gym is what its about. Alot of you should really grow up. Being ranked at a company like USA, is nothing when the NATION isnt represented. In Dallas, at NCA NATIONALS, almost every state and a few countries are represented. Are they at USA NATIONALS or Jamfest? No, but UCA there sister company has the same prestiege. Ive cheered for one of the best gyms in the WORLD. And of course its not your fault that there are only 3 teams in your division, but you also choose to go to a company that dosent have the NATION represented. If you want to be ranked and known as someone then you go to UCA, NCA, and Worlds. NOONE knows teams that win at USA, JAMZ, CheerPros, JAMFEST..... Don't get me wrong, I endure all these companies, but there no where in comparison with UCA, NCA, or WORLDS. Those are where the teams that are going to be remembered PRACTICE. And then you wander why noone knows your name. Have class, dont put others down to make you feel better. It's not about winning or loosing, its about playing the game. So if you want to be rememberd like Gymtyme, CheerAthletics, World Cup, Sting Rays, Kentucky Elite, CheerForce, California Allstars, Spirit of Texas..... then go to a competition that matters. So instead of being negative, be positive...we should encourage others for doing better. This is life, and you can go to your gym and work harder and harder to become known, or you can sit on here and get worse, and be known as the sh&&&t talker. I wish all the teams great luck this year, and I know alot of you guys that have been torn in half by people on this site are doing amazing.... keep pushing, because the sky is the limit, and how bad you want something will determine how good you do....

wow, you must be bitter, because You have a JAMFEST, or JAMZ national title. but is that really a NATIONAL title, when the nation isnt represented? It's not, although these companies are up and coming, there nothing compared to NCA. It's an honor to be on the mat, much less the last 2 teams on the mat. Just because you didnt do so well this year, dosent mean you cant next. Teams, like gymtyme, cheer athletics, sting rays.... they didnt go there and just win there first couple of years. They were that team in 3rd, and 4th... but they strived to be 1st and second. Just remember that, take that anger out on the floor. Save this negative energy... its just not worth it...
I agree we (Airborne)went last year and placed 7 out of 14 in our division. We did not leave the competition upset and bitter. We got in the gym with more motivation. To me our placement was a way to push us to strive to be stronger the next time we go.
I am happy for you, that you think NCA was the best. Good for you! again we were not last and yes we loved the practice, but as a parent this is the first competition I have ever attended that the kids were kicked off the stage and my child said that made her feel worse!!!!!!!!!! my child said that made her feel like **** , her division was small enough there was no need to remove anyone from the stage. Also I have never been at a competition where kids didn't even celebrate their second place placement but just left the floor with their heads down crying. We stayed all day and I did not see one team besides first place cheering. I feel this behavior was encouraged by the way NCA handled their awards ceremony and again I hope we never attend again. JMO

i went and checked that site out, uachampions.com; they didn't say they won out of 400 teams...? i don't know who this is-but as someone from out of state looking into the cheer world in northern california (our gym went to NCA dallas)-you guys are pretty bad. yes CHEER IS COMPETITIVE-but don't bash other teams, when it's pretty obvious that you/yourteam is just insecure. i saw them and they weren't by far the best no, but i didn't see your gym there? at least they went out there.
sure, they didn't say 9 out of 9, but if i remember correctly first place was only a point away. (that separated places 1 through 9)
to be perfectly honest-if i remember the ultimate all-stars had some amazing elites-but lacked a lot in tumbling. which i think is why they didn't win!
basically-you all need to calm down. give each other some positive boosts and stop condemning other teams! if you were there backstage at nca dallas, level five teams were wishing each other good luck and just having a great time. nationals was an amazing experience-and hopefully your gym tries it and sees that winning is important but the experience to be out there lasts a lifetime.
thank you! i checked out that site uachampions.com...they say nothing about 9th place of our so many teams. they say the got 9th. maybe that is an accomplishment for that team? their kids probably did the best they could! remember who you are talking about before you say things like that..egotistical? they are just kids doing all star cheer-you don't need to criticize them. i'm sure those kids did the best they could...after seeing their video...they seem to lack a lot in tumbling but besides that...that is about it.
um... UA went to Dallas tx. went on the same floor that all the top programs in the world did. took 7th in prelims and 9th out of 9 in finals. The kids that went got to meet great athletes from all over the US. got to see great cheer and are now pumped for the rest of the year. UA has room for improvement and I can't wait to see them at GSSA. Why hate on this team? what did they do to YOU that makes you so angry?

I think the only thing people have a problem with is saying you took 9th at NCA. It is a bit misleading for someone looking for a new gym. You took 9th because there were only 9 places. Say you had a great time at NCA, say you learned a lot and it was a wonderful experience. But don't make it sound like you placed well, because let's be honest, you did not. That is the point that is being made here, not just about your gym but about any gym. Keep it real, please. Us newcomers depend on it.

ive been trying to find the right words for a few days to try and look at this from a positive prospective. I think it is vey honorable that UA went to NCA in Texas and competed. I mean how many of us can say our gyms would take that big risk. So now they have ssen what it atkes to cpmepet with the big dawgs (not that we dont have our own big dawgs here in norcal) so from that stand point by all means brag that you were there and you took that risk. I remember another norcal gym went there a few years back for the first time and di ok, but had a reality check and let me just say they are one of the best if not best teams in nor cal area now. So this could be a great experience for UA and they could come back stronger than ever now! but i do agree that be truthful about your placements and accomplishments because now UA going to texas now takes a a back burner to your place you got!! now lets just all be honest that they are not the only ones who brag about championships or grand national champs when in reality they are not those or they got those titiles winning against one other team or no competition at all. I know of a gym who still advertises off of their grand national champs from last season but are not doing so well this season. it is all about being truthful. gyms will get a lot more respect for the upcoming season if you are just honest. people hate to bee dooped and it will ruin your business. it catches up to you. always!!!!! you can only get a way with it for as hort period of time and your pefomances will speak for itself.
I'm on UA, and I'd like to say that criticizing us isn't doing anything but making you look foolish. Worry about your own gym-our choreography and skill speaks for itself. We never said we won, nor did we say we placed 9 out of so many amount of teams. We said we placed 9th end of story. We did the best we could-despite what anyone says. And, as a response to what someone said, we are just kids, so remember you are talking about us...so if another coach is accusing our gym of false advertisment and that we are egotistical GET A LIFE! None of us think we are like world champions...we are just all star cheerleaders who LOVE what we do! I'm proud we placed 9th- we gave it our all! I love you Lennie and the rest of the staff! Woot woot! Go UA! I love my family! CHAMPIONS NEVER DIE.
What about teams that claim a first place win, when they were the only team in the division? If you're going to make a team post that they placed 9th out of 9, then all the other teams should be doing the same, such as posting 2nd out of two, or 1st out of one, 2nd out of three, etc...
I think claiming that you placed first, without mentioning that there was no competition, is more misleading than saying 9th, without mentioning that there were only 9 places.

This isn't a personal attack on a gym but more an attack on false advertising. I agree if you place first against nobody you need to phrase it differently if your team did well. Most of the competitions we have been at give scores, so you can specify where you placed score-wise against others in your division. That is the ONLY accurate way for someone looking at a website to determine where you stand against other gyms. Otherwise you are doing yourself no favors at all, it only backfires and raises suspicion.
What looks suspicious to me is you coming on these boards and attacking a gym for having the nerve to tell people they got 9th when they actually got 9th. What gym puts the numbers of people in their division next to every award they get? You obviously have an axe to grind with this gym and are trying to find a way to cut them down.
If you are so interested in being honest and upfront, why do you post anonymously?
I am not the original poster. I agree that the original poster might possibly have an axe to grind because who else would have noticed it on their website. But I agree it is misleading information. If they came in 20th would they say so? You or they can justify it all they want, but the truth is they came in last so why even bring it up. I would have much more respect for a website that stated they did a great job on stage regardless of their placement, or something to that effect. I'm not saying they are the only website that does this, I'm saying that gym websites need to stop misleading people. Any business would be blasted for doing so.
