NCA Dallas Awards, really Tacky

I know I will get a lot of flack for this but I think anyone who received lower than 1st place in Dallas should throw their trophy in the trash!! Everyone says it is the best honor, blah blah blah. I feel NCA disrespected all their athletes.

NCA escorted all the athletes off stage if they were not first or second as they got their placements, making them feel worse than they already did. They might as well have said "you suck get off my stage" then they had first and second place owners shake hands in the name of sportsmanship and then hustle the losing team off the stage and didn't want them to congratulate the winning team. I understand the time constraint of awards but for my first time attending this competition, I was not impressed, I think their actions undermind their own awards show and placements and they should have just had the two first place teams come up and not even allowed the other teams to soil their stage.

wow i never heard anything like that before. that is very different and it appears very rude. i cant imagine what it must of felt like for the other cheerleaders who didnt place first. There must be some reason for this although it cant be a good enough reason. but wow shocking

If all of you think that is funny, just wait until you read this:

http://uachampions.com/

This team placed 9th out of nine @ NCA All Star Nationals!  (Accomplishment as stated on the front page of their website states they are so prestigious out of over 400 teams...

Is this an attempt to make people think they are a "top notch" program from Nothern California?  Am I the only one who is disgusted by this egotistical behavior?

no you are not theonly one who is disgusted about that at all. many gyms do that not just them.......... very sad.  parents have to be smart and research things and know that most of these gyms are getting national titiles when they are at small comps or in their own division and then they are stating somewhat truths like that one.
they didnt lie so you cant say they lied, just didnt state the whole truth how sad

It's tricky, at what point do you get to call yourself National Champions?  I would say it's the fault of our sport that there are SO MANY National titles and that it's easy to get some of them.   I think the gym that got 9th out of 9 shouldn't have even mentioned it because basically they came in last place.  I agree that it's misleading and false advertising.  But say you go to Jamz Nationals and you happen to have three in your division and win.  Can't you call yourselves National Champions?  Is it your fault there were only three in your division?  I certainly would not call Jamz Nationals a small competition but in some divisions there are less than others.

It's just kind of lame that people are willing to crtisize those who try when many others are too scared to even do so, and kind of pathetic. I'm just saying, how many of you can say that you even went let alone even placed ANYTHING at all.

GROW UP.
Like honestly, stop trying to bring other people down just to make others look better. Childish.

Seriously not trying to bring others down.  But, don't mislead the innocent who you are trying to think you are more than you really are.  This has to be a post from someone directly from UA.  Give me a break!

Exactly my point, their was no jumping up and down and screaming from any other team on the stage other than first place and some divisions like small level five had like 22 teams in their division alone, so to even get top ten should have been an accomplishment but it wasn't and it was very sad, as a parent my heart hurt for every team they escorted off their stage.....

I don't think they are being egotistical. Those coaches/gym owners are just proud of their kids is all. What's wrong with that? 9th place just may be a great accomplishment for that team. If I were a gym owner, I wouldn't hesitate posting a positive message like that either. JMO

9th place out of 22, yes, quite an accomplishment.  But 9th place out of 9th is last place, which could have also been 22nd out of 22.   There just happened to be only 9 teams.   There is a big difference.  They should have just stated that they went to NCA.  That alone might attract some people to their gym.  But don't mislead, it only makes people suspicious.

You know what is so funny, I dont think my cheerleaders know the difference between where we go to nationals, and its not for lack of trying.  I mentioned that I was thinking of taking them to Cheersport or Jamfest Supernationals and they had no idea about either of them.  They have been to NCA so they know what that is but it is funny to me.  I think it is because I dont live and breathe cheer talk with them so they dont know about the stuff outside of our area.  In some ways that is bad but in someways its nice that they dont get caught up in it all.

How exactly do they figure that they are "World Champions"?

Actually its not tacky at all. NCA made a mistake, so what would be better, let those kids think they won or give the REAL winners their jackets. Yes it does really suck and those girls im sure were upset, but we need to teach athletes how deal with REAL life situations. Sorry, its a competitive sport, suck it up and deal with crap as it comes. People baby these kids to much and think because they are 14 or 15 its ok to do so. Life doesn't just start at 18.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. 'World Competitors' would be more appropriate and still looks 'grand'. World Contestants.... I don't bag them or anyone trying to beef up their website or even exaggerate, just post truth!

i can understand why you would think that being your first time at dallas. I have been to this competition before and dont consider it as them saying "you suck, get off my stage" Being the last 2 teams on the mat is an honor and an unforgetable moment and my coach says it is his dream to shake the other coaches hands, which happened for him this year. I know everyone has their own opinions, but maybe something to strive for next year would be to be one of the last teams on the mat.

Nice try, but your little attempt to get a dig in didn't work. I don't want to be in that position either, that was my first and hopefully last time attending that competition. Like I said before I was not impressed at all, and trust me we were not last ! But thanks anyway your opinion was greatly appreciated.

Someone's just a tad bitter and I'm not quite sure why.

What is tacky about that?  After your name is called out, you get to celebrate for a moment, and then you move 10' off the mat.  That is how they have always done it and it seems perfectly normal to me.  It's not like they kick you out of the building - you can stay right on the edge of the mat if you want.  Lots of competitions do it that way.

I guess when people aren't happy about their placements, they will look to anything, even something this trivial, to vent their frustrations on.
