Well CA this is intended with only respect and jealousy, AARRGh sucks for us! I really really hope you get your paid bids this weekend @ NCA:)
Who are you referring to? I have always respected your program. I am amazed every season that the routines you put on the floor. Goodluck at NCA and USA.
Every division winner gets a bid of some sort, paid or at large. Since NCE isn't competing against anyone in Large Coed, they automatically get a bid.
I love NCE (this has nothing to do with them), but isn't there something wrong with the system if you can get an at large bid to Worlds by simply registering your team?

I will try my best not to rant here and simply say that the current system needs to be overhauled. Right now there are too many loopholes or scenarios that exist that are not in the best interests of the over all integrity of the sport.
Until it is overhauled, you will have many independent competition companies and gyms that will never buy into the concept.
heck yea dumb excited for next weekend !!! goodluck to everyone competing...i cant wait to see California All Stars!! my favorite team!! i hope the rockets get there bid next weekend but its gonna be tuff cuz there is good teams that are competing in there divsion... go odyssey!!!! nd goodluck comets!!! large level 4
The thought of a team changing their schedule last minute because they know that nobody is registered in their division just to get a bid is WRONG. Have they even thought of the fact that they are putting all these hopes and dreams into children of getting to Worlds and having a shot at the title, when in reality they won't make it past prelims. All just to say "We make it to World's". WHATEVER!
NCE is NOT the only ones in their divison..... That is JUST the prelim.... They comp against the other coed teams if they get the scores req. to compete on Sat....
If USA is bending the rules and letting CA come after registration Fierce needs to do the same..... Everyone knows this is all about money, not talent that is why everyone is National champs at all the gyms.... Its all about who can can work the system the best.....politics, greed, capitalism..... But hey as long as the kids are having fun in the process WHO CARES!!!!!

Did you look at Sat's schedule? Who else is competing in Large Senior Coed Level 5? If they are in Senior Coed Limited, then yes, they will have competition.
People can pay a late fee to enter a comp late. The only way they close it is if the actual company is at its max number of participants which usa never is.
I just spoke with USA and they stated that the registration for their nationals was closed as of this past Tuesday. They also stated that for the Worlds divisions you do not get an automatic bid if you are the winner of the division that it wsill be score based. Therefore since desert storm and Az power both have paid bids and won their respective divisions that the second place teams scores will factor in to the bid equation.

This is a change IMHO that needs to be made. The vast majority of programs know what comps they are going to by the end of the summer. Most have a pretty good clue by tryouts because we as parents demand such information in order to know when to schedule off, take vacations, or decide we want to go to another program with a different schedule of comps.
I have seen too many programs use the late registration loophole intentionally as a means to "scout" what other programs are attending and in what divisions and adjust accordingly. This could mean dropping or raising a level to get a more favorable match up, dropping out of a comp, or even attending a comp at the last minute just to compete against somebody else. Even if the USASF leveling of athletes was in full force and effect now, it still would not stop late registrations as a means to tweak a comp schedule in your favor.
Just because a comp company advertises a late registration fee, does not mean it is equally enforced with all programs.
While I don't disagree with your point ("scouting" to find easier competition), if the program is willing to take a hit in fees (sometimes up to $20 per athlete) to do it, then I'm not sure how you stop it - especially since there are plenty of other legitimate reasons why a program might register late: a planned comp might be canceled and they need another one to take its place, a planned comp might be really poorly attended and they might want to go somewhere to find more competition.
I don't disagree with you but I'm not sure how you'd stop just those who are using it for that purpose.

On thier information page it states that the regristration will close one week prior to the event. Which supports them closing it on Friday. So, USA must have made an exception for CA.

It would be extremely hard to police, you are right. Money talks...and sometimes ethics walks. There are those cases where I think it is justifable as you mentioned...another comp canceled is a great one. My point being (without ranting...i am trying to be good this weekend) is that some programs are hit with the late fees and some are not...despite the reasons why they are registering late. More often the smaller programs (who could least afford it as well) are hit and major programs are given a wink and a nod.
You could (ethically) see if a program constantly registers late for a certain event. You could raise the late registration fees and stick to it, no matter what team/program it is... and double that fee if it is a chronic offender. (My Choice) Or you could prevent late registrations at all...not likely to happen but it is an option.
