And for sure the level 3 division was scored wrong on the first day.

Why did you feel that it was scored incorrectly the first day. Our coach found an adding error on ours the first day and our score went from a 6.97 to a 7.00 but it helped. Did you guys talk to the company about it?

What happened on the first day I didn't get ot watch on the first day?

I don't think it only happened to our team. There were a few teams in this division hat got cut short on scoring and placement.

We had zero mistakes on day one and had no deductions on our deduction sheet.

An hour after the division you could pick up your division placement, and when we did we were placed in 4th. There is no reason that we should have been placed in fourth in the first place.

Our level three throws two jump sections. One section pike, toe to handspring. And another toe, toe to handspring. Both full squad jump sections. We have three body positions in each stunt sequence, including partner stunt and pyramid. Two partner stunts. Full downs. Full squad round off tuck, and 15 roff handspring tucks in the long section out of 20 girls. One toe touch toss, and three pike opens. Our routine is pretty jammed. It seemed a little off.

I mean it is what it is... and we've beat most, if not all of the teams that ended up in front of us. Oh well, it's just one competition. And for the most part the whole day, the judging panel was on target. It just seemed we should have been in second after day one. I ordered the video, and I'll post videos after I get it.

This is what always bothers me about judging.  Will you ever know why they placed the other teams ahead of you?  Why they gave them higher scores?  You can look at the numbers, sure, but if there is no explanation as to why they gave you those numbers to begin with in comparison to the other teams, then it's judging without accountability.   They could put any numbers they want.  I would say your level 3 based on what you're saying is quite an impressive team, I'm sure you will do well the remainder of your season!

Cali dropped a stunt. SS doesn't post scores, just placements, so we'll probably never know how close the scores were, but I'm assuming Desert Storm outscored Cali.

the way that comp works..even if cali did drop a astunt and still outscore desert storm..they would never give a full paid bid to a team with a dropped stunt.

Is that written somewhere in Spirit Sport policy, or is that based on an assumption of yours that even with a dropped stunt, there is no way that Desert Storm could have outscored California?

I was at the competition and saw both performances. At the coaches meeting a scoring system was discussed and you could achieve higher scores if certain items were within the routine. Maybe Desert Storm had more of those elements. Also, did Cali have full team jumps to tucks. I also believe that Desert Storm had ALOT of doubles, 4 or 5 guys doing combos into doubles wont out score 20 doubles from another team. Just a thought.

are you implying that ca coed only had 4 or 5 doubles???
hmm i deffinitly think it was closer to 15 and more than half were combo
and they were pretty darn close to full squad jumps to a tuck minus 2 or 3 and if im not mistaken it was a rather hard jump sequence closer to the end of the rutine

No that is not what I was implying.  I was just saying that the scoring system might of given higher points for the skills in the Storm routine then the Cali one.  I just know that Storm has a ton of doubles but I dont know an exact number.  Dont get me wrong, Cali is amazing.

Also, on the first day the scores where really close between all of the teams up for a bid.  Really close meaning maybe a difference of .055.  So it is hard to say one team is that much better then the other.  Also, are you sure that Storm had the higher final score or did Spirit Sports pick the winners of the paid bids.

And that is a very fair way to do it....their scoring system was laid out on their website for coaches to see and prepare for months..the teams that did well were the teams that were prepared..

Bids were given by score (says on their website in info packet) and there are 10 categories on a scoresheet...people have to remember that when talking about what is in a routine..spirit sports lays eveything out on the website for all to see if you want to look..pretty straight forward

I am not sure I agree with the senior level 3 division either?? What do you think the results should have been?

What I
have heard was that the 3rd place team had done something that MAY have been illegal but thats not for sure so
dont quote me on it. Also I
was also told that the first place team had dropped a stunt.& the fourth place team had a bobble & got low score on their dance. Which I heard was very energetic &
had the crowd going. But thats all iveheard

No need to be sorry, I was just curious.  Maybe you should name your computer Proteus.  ;)

Ca and Power large 4's were both SO awesome both days! Congrats to both teams on your performances... Very very close competition and incredible to watch. The energy was off the hook both days. Congrats to Ca for the win and Power for a extremely close second. Your girls WORKED IT!biggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Totally agreed, I would love to have seen the scores on those two teams, it had to be soooooooo close!

Spirit sports does post scores on the website (or at least did last year). And all of the coaches had access to everyones scores at the desk before and after deductions, anyone in the large senior 5 has everyone in that catagories scores. Obviously it was CA's deductions that did it, and yes that sucks but sometimes that is what happens. By the way I hear alot from Fierce what did or have they won this year? Just curious

The California Open Team was so great. Talked to a couple of the kids and they said they had gotten their music 2 thursday's before the competition! i was so surpirsed they had the whole place standing up on their feet when they were done. I was even more surprised when they said they only starting having two practices a week three weeks before the compeition and it was a saturday practice from 6pm to 9pm and then a sunday 6 in the morning to 8!!!!!!!!!! I asked "why so early?!" and they said because they are all coaches for their personal teams they had their compeitions so they had to do early morning practices..! I was just in awe that they could do that and make it work, and come out 1st at the competition with a bid to worlds! They said they didnt even know the words so their coach and teammates said since they had to "sing the music" they were were just to say "watermelon, watermelon, watermelon" over and over! Ha Ha Ha! As a cheer mother to a daughter on a level 5 team, that was just amazing to me.

THANK YOU sooooo much for everyone's compliments!  The response we got from the crowd when we walked on stage and throughout the performance was absolutely AMAZING!  And I have to say (and I think I speak for my whole team), YOU made it SO much fun to be competing and performing again!

So, THANK YOU to everyone out there for your support and energy this past weekend!

The results aren't posted yet, but so far the 2008 results that they do have posted (from other competitions) only have placements, no scores.
