I don't understand how you can get difficulty points for skills that don't hit. If I had 4 fulls, but a 5th try a full and fall flat on her butt, do i get credit for 5 fulls? And if yes, why? The skill didn't hit, so technically you shouldn't even get points for it. Otherwise, why not just attempt everything? Why promote injuries?
Exactly...becasue too many coaches would little suzie who swears she has her full (but no one has seen it) attempt it every time. Every girl whos working a full would be throwing them.
It would help if you all understood scoring, maybe you only needed to throw three fulls to get the points for that section of the score sheet so the fourth and fifth one didn't even count.
That is why you always see the kid at the end that may not land their full and some people are like "why would the coach put that kid last" well because at that point it doesn't even matter that's why, they have already reached their points for that section.
You know wht is really getting to me right now? The fact that so many people are in the all star business or even part of all star cheer and don't understand the ends and outs of things. As a gym owner you would expect them to know how the judging works and understand that each company looks for different things. Therefore chosing competitions that best benefit your gym and the style you use.
As a parent/customer you should be well aware of what you are "buying" into(for a lack of better terms). So you put your kid in all star cheer and just like anything else you buy, you buy it only after you have done your research and understand what you are getting. What I mean by that is: There shouldn't be so many questions of why a team did better etc at a competition.
I am not saying that there are not many unsettled questions etc that still need to be addressed in this type of sport or business. bUt in general both the gym owners and parents on these boards need to know what they are "buying into. do your research.
if you are the gym owner on these boards upset about results then research that companies style, maybe it just isn't a fit for your gym.
if you are the parent on these boards doing the same thing... then know & understand that each competition orginization is different. And it is your gym owner's responsibility to choose competitions that fit their gym.
again I am not saying that everything is perfect in all star cheer and their are still things that need to change, but it is both disheartning and silly to keep taking away the win of a team who met whatever requirements where suppose to be met for that particular event!
best of luck to everyone and congratulations to all the participants at this competition and huge KUDOS to all the teams that took home first place!
I really enjoyed this competition and I love the cheergyms orginization in general and all the things they are doing in the competitive cheer world.
blessings to all and wishing you all the best at Nationals

Maybe you need to unserstand the scoring alittle better... the falls would take eveybit of points earned for the fulls away. Maybe take even more than what they earned.
Thanks goodness judges don't score the way you are describing. If they did then we would have some many broken limb cheerleaders. Coaches would be throwing everything and the kitchen sink into the routine.
this is why we coaches say , "it's not worth the risk". Skills need to be hitting at 90-95% to be put on the competition floor.
dont get me wrong power is amazing but i can see where the judges could get them they donnt have a clear cut motions sequence their pyramid could be a little harder and they only throw two double downs??
again dont think im bashing them they are still awsome but i do understand why even without the 2 dropped stunts the scores could be close depending on what the judges were looking for on that givin day
I feel like a lot of people get a way from the fact that there are children out there on the competition floor. What if your child happened upon the message boards and saw things written that took away from their win, or that may degrade the makeup of their team... the truth of the fact remains this is a subjective sport, win or lose, we are all participating in something that is judged, by people, its not perfect, and it can't be... but unless we were the ones sitting at the judges table, we can discuss and contemplate an issue until we are blue in the face, and still have no exact explanation. Congratulations are in order for every team, after each competition, win or lose... and not even that but each night that they come into the gym. How many people work in a group, towards a goal, putting forth that much effort, in their own lifetime... the truth is not many. For any team to go out there, put their hard work and effort into a performance, should be winners in every parents book! I'm not scolding in any way... just maybe typing without thinking too much, but It's how I feel and I am sure others can agree... they are kids, living their youth... that's worth more than any first place trophy, or national banner any day
throwing skills that are not safe... is (for lack of a better term) dumb. just to max a score sheet and get the numbers up? hmm... thats where injured athletes are born...

I understand what you are saying and I wish there was a place where adults could post so that we don't have to think about how a child might react reading our opinions about poor judging and other such issues because I think voicing these opinions, and discussing and/or questioning our sport is not always a bad thing. Sometimes it initiates changes for the better.
