You want to talk about crossovers.....cheergyms kids crossover too. No one on this board ever says anything about cheergyms crossing over.
Like its been said before, it is up to the parents of an athlete to decide if it is okay for their child to crossover to another team. A gym can't force an athlete to do more than one team, unless you go to a gym that requires it. And there are two gyms in Northern CA that do require that you do 2 teams if you want to be apart of their higher program. Nor Cal is not one of them AT ALL.

That is just wrong!!! No gym should make such a demand on a child, I do not care who they are!
It is not a demand. Think about it like this...in Cheergyms.com you cannot be on the all american level 5 teams unless you are on one of their gyms' level 4 team. That isn't much different from Nor Cal. Contrary to popular belief it is possible to be on just one team (that is a level 5 teams) on NCE. It's an option to be on a second team and the kids that are on 2 or more teams do it because they love it and because it was their choice.
Not trying to be defensive, just clarifying a misconception.
Right, but for a level 5 kid then to be able to compete on a level 5 team, he or she has to compete on two teams.
Requiring a kid to be on a lower level team in order to be allowed to compete their own level IMO IS forcing them, no matter what you call it or how you try to slice it.
But what you're saying is just incorrect. It IS allowed to be on one team at level 5: either Juniors, or Senior All Girl. Once again their is no forcing here.

Sorry, I misread that, I do agree with you on that.
wow i never realized scv had so many teams. they do have alot of kids in the younger divisions. mini 1, 2, 3, youth 1, 2, 3, 4
They have up to 3 kids on one team in that gym. Way too many crossovers. That is how they have so many teams. If they had no crossovers that # would dwindle fast!
They very well could have 250-If you do the math depending on if you are talking large or small teams you will see my point. I know of kids that are on 2 and 3 teams in that gym. It will burn you out fast. Many end up quiting all together. I don't believe it is a requirement though as I have read on other threadsabout other gyms.
okay...so it seems as if you can't determine how big a gym is by the number of teams. i think that's fair enough. so how about just numbers? cheer and dance since it sounds like we are counting both.
I think these are correct, but I could be wrong...
AP - 5 teams Airborne - 6 teams CSE - 4 teams Cheer Divas - 2 teams CWT - 3 1/2 teams cheergyms.com - 11 teams POWER - 8 teams

How do you have 3 1/2 teams??? lol :)
By having a half-year team, of course. ;)
I'm sure some, maybe all, the others I listed also have 1/2 year teams, but I didn't know who or how many. I just realized this could have been read as a bash/diss/cut (what the heck is a grown-up word for this?) on CWT, which is NOT how I meant it.

No not at all. It just made me chuckle when I first read it.
OC Mom, Mom of 5 great kids! A cheerleader/softball player, a RETIRED cheerleader, a football/baseball player, 1 Airman and future Police Officer and one college student!
If NCE did not have cross overs they would still have 6 teams of at least 20 kids each.... "As quiet as it may be kept". they have over 120 kids including half year teams and there are very few kids that are on more than 2 teams.
Those few that are on 3, they can't get out of the gym..... I took my kid over to only do one level 5 team and it was NO problem period.....of course she loved it and wanted to be on any and every team she could...... mean mom only allowed a two team limit
what is worng with crossovers? Really? If suzi spirit cheers on her Senior 3 team as a flyer and wants to base on her junior 2 team who cares? She has a tuck and gets to do with other people on her team. She loves being in the air as it is fun, she does not really have to work to hard at it because it comes naturally (lucky girl). Tumbling wise she has worked really hard for her tuck and is proud she can do it. On her level 2 team she is an average base but is able to be more highlighted in tumbling as she is stronger with her level 2 tumbling skills. Turns out Suzi Spirit becomes more confident after becoming a more well rounded cheerleader. Oh my, what have we done? Made a child feel better about themselves. Folks, crossovers are going to happen. I watch gyms with 60 or less kids come up with 4 teams. Good for them, they are being smart about letting their customers be happy!
