Thanks to the Legends cheerleader for the nice comments. You guys had a great day yesterday and this was the first time I'd seen the new dance - nice!

As for the "slam" above, indeed they did NOT throw a full routine in warm-up, but I appreciate your expert opinion on our coaches and their decisions :)

No excuses, our kids beat themselves and they know it. The routine is almost entirely new and the mistakes they made were with the two sections that had no changes so there is just no excuse. They have a lot of work to do this week and they're ready to get it done.

Congratulations to Pyramids on a great clean routine and on the win. You guys deserved it all the way!

OH and I amost forgot - thank you to the kids and staff from Airborne, Legends, Pyramids and CheerTyme for what was really a show of incredible sportsmanship and support that I have honestly never experienced before on behalf of our teams. It was a great atmosphere out there!

Is there a rule where you can't stand up and clap when the team is entering the floor? I'm not saying that I hold something against POWER for this but FYI, parents, fans, and friends, this is just weird behavior!

We had something similar happen, but not quite the same. We were at Athletic Championships today and a team we usually compete against had just gone on. Our team was next and were performing on stage when the girls from the gym who just performed came into the stands walking right in front of us, blocking our view, right during our team's performance. We signaled for the girls to move (and probably said something like "sit down") and they looked at us like we were the ones being rude. But in your situation the routine had not started yet so I understand your confusion. Maybe like us they've had someone block their view before and wanted to catch it before it happened, who knows.

But the thing was, I was giving POWER a standing ovation.  I also turned to the mother and said I was going to sit down.  I know her daughter was on the team but don't tell me what to do when I have respect for the team your daughter is on and clapping for your daughter and her team.  She knew very well what I was doing. NO EXCUSES! After the routine, I stood up and clapped.  What, you really think I am going to stand up the whoel routine?  How about you stand up?  There is a difference, when someone stands in front of you when a routine is going on, is rude. When someone is giving your daughters team a standing ovation, I would be honored.

I think jus a good rule of thumb is that when it is not your team just stand up and clap at the end because you don't want to get into someones way when they are trying to watch their daughter or team.  Thant just what I do and I have never had a problem.  awwawwaww

Now that you mention it, we were sitting by a team that proceeded to save everyseat in two very large sections. these sections were in the very front rows. As if that was not bad enough the parents could not stay seated, teams would be preforming and they would just get up, with no regards to anyone or any team around them. The real kicker is two of the parents that were almost never seated had shirts on that said staff

There was one thing at the Cheersport competition that I found to be a little subjective.  The competition started out with an opening prayer.  I am not saying this is a bad thing, but I was thinking that some people might find this offensive.  This was my first cheersport competition and I don't know if this is a regular thing but it definitely had me thinking. any thoughts on praying to the Lord before a competiton attended by many people with all different religious beliefs?

I always tell my daughter whenever she is out and about and visting with friends, that anytime there is something that is not necessarily our custom just be respectful and you dont necessarily have to participate.  We do honor GOd and have prayer in our home, however she has friends who are othodox jews and even friends who pray to different gods.  When she is with them, she knows to not participate or to even pray her own prayer when they are praying or what have you.

This could go even for this situation.  Whomever owns cheersport must be christians and that is their practice.  So as your right you just choose not to participate, but its just tolerance in my book.  Some people don't nec. say the pledge because of under God. But there are orginizations who say the pledge. Some dont find it honorable to play the natonal anthem, but you are tolerant of it.

I take each thing we enounter from different walks of life and faith as a chance to teach my children about tolerance, acceptance and to even teach them about our beliefs.
In my opionion, America in general has lost what it stands for over the years.  This country is a great big melting pot. With all walks of life and we should practice tolerance and respect each person's views and beliefs.  I would not, not attend a cheer competition because the hosting orginization was ran by Jewish people or even by people who date the same sex.  I know that those two examples may sound weird, but what I am trying to say... It is a small issue and its about tolerance.

Prayer has always been a issue, but what a great time as parents to talk to your children about your beliefs and teach them to respect others with out turning it into a debate of what is right.

peace to all

I think it is fine unless they require everyone to participate in the prayer, which they don't of course.

Well said. I personally love the opening prayer. Thanks Cheersport for a positive, well run competition. It appeared to be a good day for most.

I think this is a great outlook.  Everyone is so easily "offended" these days, and that is a person's right, I suppose...but it makes life so much more pleasant when one can just observe that different people have different beliefs and no one is required to participate in the practices of others.

Live and let live, agree to disagree, and all that.  Great post, and I agree with you 100%.

Ugh...if there was only a way to make everyone read the thread before replying. That alone would eliminate 90% of all conflicts.

I have to give mad props to the following teams!

VE: you guys looks good.  Usually it is a little messy and scattered but it was pulled together.
Cheerg: Special needs team touched my heart.  I am so happy I finally got to see them.
Royal:  Haven't seen you for at least a year and the kids have grown so much.  I was way over my head impressed.  "CLAP CLAP!"
Airborne: moving forward with the lvl's; each step leads to another
All star Elite: You guys always seem to have the best time out there.  I love how you guys rock it out there and kick your routine.
POWER: Level 5 has come along way from the first performance.  Great example how you can have some good days and bad. Congrats!

My hat comes off to every team who performed on Sunday.  I not only enjoyed cheersport but the routines were off the hook.  Keep it real, on the flip side my hotdogs

I agree about All Star Elite, I think their Sr Level 4 routine is very entertaining.  We didn't attend this competition but we saw them at GSSA.  This is just an observation.... I think they would score higher if they had 5 stunt groups instead of 4, since I believe they have 20 members, especially heading into Nationals.  Am I wrong?

(mildly late post)
CheerTyme did win sr3 and with some cheer drama minutes before performing!  My team has never been pulled together so strong like they did for that competition!  I was proud to be out there with my "family"  We had some pyramid "issuses" but pulled it off.  Much thanks to our coaching staff! (had to get in the shot out)

~ great job to POWER and Airborne!  My fav's all day!  And Cheergyms.com special needs team was sooo awesome.  Brought (happy) tears to my eyes.  My whole organization jumped to their feet when they took the floor!

Looking forward to UCA Nor Cal on Feb 16th and JAMZ Nationals in LAS VEGAS!!!
