RE: Athletic Championships January 26-27

If someone is going to predict winners at least use the latest complete schedule.  I happen to disagree with the majority of the predictions, but I'm not a fan of singling teams out so I'll keep it to myself.   This competition, although not as popular as last year, will still be a great one to be at ... there are enough gyms to make most divisions competitive.   It will be fun to see how everyone does at this one and Cheersport.  Everyone, take good notes and let us know!

Looking forward to seeing all the teams compete.  Who is going to win? Who knows?  Not going to make any predictions, but here is who I think may do well...

Mini Level 1
Cal Spirit - They were adorable at Jamz

Youth Level 2
Gold Star - Came in 1st at JAMZ
Cal Spirit - 2nd at JAMZ
(I like both these teams.  They are very entertaining to watch.  Score was very close so who ever performs the cleanest routine will probally take it.)

Cheer Xplosion - Came in 5th at GSSA
(Cx teams usually do well and could take it also.)

Have not seen ACE or Supreme so they could suprise everyone.

Small Junior Level 3
Rebels Elite - I like them :)

Large Junior Level 3
UCF - Came in 1st at GSSA and looked really good

Senior Level 2
Gold Star
Cheer Xplosion
Cal Spirit
Humbolt All Stars
(Any of these teams could win - All have had finished 1st this year it be down to who performs the best)

Large Senior Level 2
Premier - They are really good this year

I know predictions are just someone's opinion, but I have to ask, what is the point of them?   The winners in all divisions will be who has the cleanest routine.

It is just fun and then  you come back and see how close everyone is. Really there is no harm in predicting wins.  People do it for all other sports.  Like who you think will win the super bowl.  It is just fun and as long as veryone is nice about it and dont put down gyms, its not negative or hurtful.........

so i guess there really isnt a point except its fun to do.

best of luck to all the teams at both competitions this weekend and this time of the season is so much fun and it keeps us all on our seats, becasue everyone has been practicing togther for a good while now and have competed a few times, so it get really competitive now.

be safe and have fun

Since I've seen both teams perform (unlike most people who make predictions without seeing or even researching all the teams), I'll make an educated guess and choose the Patriots.  smile.gif

RE: is it too late

So here is my question?  We are at a gym with girls who cheer for their school as well and they are frequently missing practice, leaving or coming late.  How do most gyms handle this?
My concern is that it is unfair to all the other children who have comitted their time to all stars and they are at practice, but unable to practice routines full out because of the other girls missing etc. and even that the team can't progress fairly.  it is also frustrating to pay for something and to feel as though you are not getting what you paid for
when as a parent do you speak up or is it best to leave it alone? Let the year end and move on? I know that other gyms must have girls who do school cheer and all stars. what is your policy
my greatest concern is it is very frustrating not just for the gilrs at parctice but for the parents as well who have paid for competitive cheer.  is it the responsibility of the gym to clarify their thoughts on this matter both to the children and the parents of their gym
normally i would go to the gym and voice my concern but is it too late in the season to even address the issue?
some helpful advice would be appreciated

WOW, a level 4 team today that used to be level 3 should have stayed were they belong in level 3.
Why would a coach do that to the girls? They have nothing to bring them to the level 4, the tumbling is very weak. They don't even have full team backhandsprings.
I feel sorry for the kids. I know it is good to push the kids but PLEASE.confused

Yes. Please do not move your team to level 4 just because you have 4 or 5 layouts.  If you have going to move up to level 4 make sure your stunts fit the level 4 as well.  Oh and at least please half of your team doing standing tucks.

Have to agree, don't move up a level just because you have a handful of members who want to use their more advanced skills.  You need more than that.  I saw two teams today that really should have stayed at their current level.  Maybe they will look better tomorrow..  On the positive side, I guess you could say at least they tried.
