RE: Athletic Championships January 26-27

I am going to ask everyone to PLEASE stop looking at this division in such a negative light. Level 4 is a HUGE transition from Level 3. The athletes in this division - on EVERY team are working EXTREMELY hard. These same athletes get on this board and read these comments. Come on ya'll, change the focus of this board. It's really time to look at the accomplishments these athletes have made.

I think that is the point though, it is a huge transition, be ready when you make it.  But I agree, let's change the focus.

I have to say one thing I loved about this competition is that some of the smaller gyms had a chance to shine.   Don't get me wrong, it is fun and challenging to go against the large gyms that tend to dominate these competitions.  But it was so heart warming to see how excited gyms were that won or placed well who don't always get their chance in the spotlight.

I say kudos California Spirit for trying to push yourselves.  Saturday was a rough day, but on Sunday they weren't perfect, but they improved big time.   Great job girls for giving it your all.  biggrinbiggrin

The team who stood out this weekend where CV All Stars.  Thought they were great.  Also was impressed with Riptide.  All thier teams were really impressive.  Nor Cal Elite I always enjoy watching you guys perform.   I agree that the youth teams really shined this weekend.  Some of my favorites where Extreme Cheer Mini, Rebels Youth, Cal Spirit Youth, Premier Youth.  Great job!

I would like to say thank you for all the compliments regarding California Spirit Elite this past weekend. We had some of the best performances this past weekend and was so proud of our kids at so many times I could barely contain myself. It is true our Senior Teal team did have a REALLY rough prelims performance but performed so much better on Sunday. We wanted to see how the kids would perform/react to competing at a higher level and overall it was a GREAT experience. We were plagued with injuries, but I think overall our girls did wonderful. Our other 3 teams, senior black  (senior 2), youth and minis were FANTASTIC really shined this weekend on both days. Although I feel as a coach some of the scores, judges comments were VERY frustrating, I think it will help our program for nationals in the upcoming months. Bottom line is our girls just love to perform and thats why I coach cheerleading.

On a second note, it would be great if people on this board weren't degrading ANY program. I am scrolling down the messages and can't believe parents or athletes bad mouth other programs to this degree. We all have bad days, so cut the teams some slack. Again I would like to congratulate all the teams this weekend. Lots of good routines out there.

Other than our teams (of course) who  I thought did amazing, here are a few teams I thought were great.

Nor Cal Open/coed/ all girl 5- their dances all make up me wanna get up and move! biggrin

CV Vipers-Saw them in warm ups and thought their kick fulls and double downs were gorgeous. Haven't heard of this program but thought they were great.

Riptide coed- Dance energy was GREAT.

Good job and congrats again.

Coach Chris ;)

The gyms that stood out for me were Riptide, CV, Supreme, NCE, CheerXplosion, and Roseville All Stars.  I know if I look at the schedule again or the results when they are posted I'll recall others but the routines I really enjoyed were from those gyms.  I agree with the post that said it was nice to see other gyms shine, especially CV.   The competition was a lot of fun (I just wish it were cheaper-- by the end of the weekend we spent close to $80 just for admission/parking/food)!

I liked a couple of the stunts from Supreme's Coed 5.  I thought they were visually fun to watch.

Also, I'm sure what team they were, but the little team who came out with beach balls?  I thought that was definitely aw-worthy.

I liked all Gold Star teams, don't remember seeing them before.  I liked the music from Cheer Xplosion Sr team, kind of a jungle beat to it (different).  NorCal is always fun to watch, their Youth level 3 team is impressive now and will be fun to watch progress in the coming years.  And the boy with the "big hair" was fun to watch, I think he was on Unlimited All Stars (but I could be wrong)...  And the little ones with the beach balls....cute.  Wished there was more competition at level 5.

Fun weekend, can't wait to do it again smile

And I agree, Sunday's schedules should have been handed out with the teams' name filled in....or at least made available online if they're trying to cut out the cost of printing.

One team I just loved was Cal Storm All Stars.  They had the red uniforms.  Really enjoyed watching thier routine.  Riptide Coed way to work that dance.  You guys rocked.  I wish I was younger because I want to join NCE.  So much energy and so fun to watch.  Best tumbling of the day has to go to CV All Stars.  Also think the youth division was really good.  Agree about California Spirit Youth... So cute.  They were solid both days.  You worked it ladies.

Hello everyone, I just wanted to say "Thank You" for all the nice comments about our program. We really had a great time with our level 4 team, and our so happy we made the trip. I know for some this events seems small and not worth the money, but for us it really was. Our girls got to experience San Francisco, see the amazing talent in Northern California, and create memories the will last a lifetime.
Overall for us the Athletic Championships competition company is amazing. We absolutely love them and will continue to stay with them. So to everyone that was at the event "Congratulations" regardless of the place, everyone put on amazing routines and it was great to watch and be apart of this weekend. I personally loved Roseville Level 4, keep up the great work.  I hope everyone made it home safe and sound and hopefully we will see some of you at Palm Springs in March. We will be there with all three of our teams.

Cheerfully yours,
Candace

My favorite performances were all the tiny teams.  They all did great and they were all so cute! It is amazing all the stuff they can remember. Just love the little ones.

I really enjoyed roseville cheer stars level 4 they were strong and their routine was fun.  As always Nor cal was fun to watch. I really like the team that did the routine to ice cream to cake, it was just a fun routine.  There was a new team i believe that was in red, believe they were storm. they were a small group but such a nice bunch of kids and they hung in there. The first day they struggled a little bit but they looked so much more confident on sunday.

You know what orginization I just love? CSE (california spirit). They have so much integrity and their coaches are so loving and fun.  All the kids in their program are sweet as can be and its a reflection of thier gym.  I love that their coach is positive about everything they do. It just looks like they all just enjoy each other.

Late saturday night we came back and in our hotel there was a group in the hallway with the parents and cheerleaders on the 3rd floor of the marrriott. and out in the hall way the coaches and parents were celebrating their kids and the hard work they put into saturdays performance.  They had music and little awards. Each kid was being thanked individually and told why they aprreciated them. It was super nice to see.  It warmed my heart.  Everyone was clapping.  As we walked by we said we want to join your little party and one of the dads said come on you are more than welcome to.... I dont know what group you were with(i know it was a red team) but it was nice to seebiggrin

CV all stars i missed you guys on saturday but heard nice things and couldnt wait to see you on sunday... they also did a good job

all the parents from supreme cheer were super nice and peppy. just looked happy all weekend. nice program.

hands down my favorite routine was roseville level 4 just because ofthe confidence and showmanship and they were clean and it was just a good performance congratulations roseville

very fun competition. great orginization

I highly recommend you check out these pictures if you haven't already at the competition.  We went through them yesterday and there were over 300 of just our team!   Those guys were certainly busy clicking away, and they are awesome shots we could never get on our own.   I was impressed with the quality and I love that you can buy them from your home because we couldn't decide yesterday, too much going on.

Is it just me? Or was this competition just an overall fun and great competition.  Everyone was amazingly friendly.  The whole atmosphere was positive.  The hosting orginization was fabulous.  The hosting hotel was great. The people working the door were nice.  All the vendors were exceptionally friendly as well.
All the gyms that were there were wonderful.
I just absolutely loved everything about this competition. It was nice to exoerience and I am so happy our gym goes there.

great job to everyone

How were the level 5 teams at this comp?
Did any of them look like they had a chance to get a bid to worlds?

I think both Supreme and NCE have the potential to be contenders for a bid.  The talent is there.

why is taht weird? I know that our gym ask us to not post until the end of the season. I am not from norcal........... our gym doesnt have videos either.  I also know that we have attended comps where no video taping is allowed for the most part and even if there is video taping allowed we do not post our teams online because our gym requested us not too.

i dont think it is weird at all. some gyms just dont want to have their routines posted for what ever reasons.
