Compare JAMZ Nationals to say Spirit Sport in Palm Springs or Jamfest . You will see that all of the Bigger programs do not go to JAMZ. Sorry just the facts... If California going- No, is Power going- no, is Cheergyms going - no, is cheerforce going- no, is Socal Elite going, no. There are all teams that had teams do well at Worlds last year. Sorry the truth.

We are not going to Jamz in Vegas either.  Don't like JAMZ that much, but then again I hate going Vegas for any cheer comp.  Sorry its a lousy place to take kids.  As for thier regional comps we have gone and can't say they are my favorite.  I definitely think they favor a certain style, and certain teams seem to benifit from it.  Don't care for the WOW FACTOR.  Seems to add more confusion.   The thing I notice is that after every JAMZ competition that drama follows reqarding judging, etc.  Oh well what can you do... Suck it up and move on to the next competition.

I agree that a lot of the smaller gyms seem to attend JAMZ.  I think they are cheeper then lets say Cheersport, and this could be why they keep going.  I also agree there are a couple of gyms who attend on a regular basis that seem to do extremely well at JAMZ.

the things I like about jamz:  the staff is nice at the cheer comps.

Things I wish would change:
1.The late awards, need more in between esp. since the kids don't go on stage.
2. the judging seems a little off most times they seem to favor a certain style regardless of technical ability (not talking about davis wasn't there) that is with hip hop as well. two years ago a team one nationals doing imitation of different singers and no hip hop technical stuff, while other teams met those requirements... it leaves you thinking how did they make those scores on the score sheet?  so its not just cheer where it leaves a question???
3. hate that they squeeze youth, high school and dance in with the allstar competition. makes for too long of a day
4. I have to agree that if you are working as a jamz staffer the day of the competition and your team is there as well it leaves a bitter taste and nasty feeling in most of us.  It should be one or the other... If you are there to work, you work and your team is not there.  If your team is competing then you are not working for jamz that day.  noone likes to see them take off there jamz shirt and go to the practice floor to coach.. or as one guy did ione time, just threw over a tshirt with the jamz shirt still on....
5. use to want a jacket and thought it was nice and meant something.... until they gave them out to teams with no competition in their division. some how that made it lose the greatness of getting a jacket...NOTHING LIKE A TEAM SPORTING A NATIONALS JACKET THEY GOT FOR BEING THE ONLY ONE IN THEIR DIVISION CLAIMING THEY ARE NATIONAL CHAMPS.. THAT NEEDS TO CHANGE

i dont think that its necessarily that the smaller gyms are going, because there are some gyms that are large as far as numbers who attend. I think its that gyms who are looking to really compete and compete for that title on the real are going to other venues.  jamz favors a certain style and certain gyms and people are getting tired of wasting their money and time. And I guess there is nothing wrong with that if all the other gyms just stay away from jamz and leave those teams to compete there.

personally all the concerns that have been listed needs to be addressed to jamz directly as well...

as far as stating your concerns on the boards, there is nothing wrong with that. Sometimes you just blow of some steam, get some helpful suggestions and some that are not and then you move on.  Its better done here then showing your ugliness at a cheer compettion becuase you though something was unfair etc..

we all do it and have done it at least once. We have acted ugly or ridiculous about a placement or how things are being ran or even about seats etc at cheer competitions. and you leave afterwards thinking why the hell did I behave like that??!! So you come on here say all the things you felt, read all the comments, ealize maybe i was over reacting or maybe you even get the justification you need that your feelings are right. The topic dies down and everyone moves on!

so dont take everything so personal on these boards and stop reading so much into the post.  Its not the Gospel or anything... its someones opionion and as long as there is no bashing, its ok to say you think your team shouldve won or maybe one team didnt deserve to win. who cares as long as they dont say the suck or use any derogatory statements.  The team that went home with the first place trophy went home with the first place trophy!

every gym at one time has beem blasted on the boards. Every gym... Power, cheergyms, divas, club spirit, UCF, swat, legends, starstruck, cheer odyssey, royals, aerials, airborne, the list goes on and on

this too shall die

Mind you Im not that well versed on how everything works, so If this is a dumb  question please be kind.  I get my feelings hurt quite easily.  Are the majority of the judges who judge at the JAMZ competition the regular judges for all of their comps, or do they change for every competition?  Are some from out of state or are they all local?

Maybe the larger gyms you mention aren't going this year, but they have gone last year and in the past.  Jamz Nationals has always had plenty of good competition in each division, but if they don't listen to the criticism and make some changes, that will not be the case, even as early as this year with gyms opting not to go to Jamz Nationals in March '08.

If I am not mistaken, if not for JAMZ the cheergyms organization would have never gone to worlds. This kills me. I dont think any of the judges were associated with JAMZ. There were judges from U of K, professional dance squads, and other universities. I would think any cheer company would want to hire staff members that coach and stay current in cheer trends. Who cares if their staff coaches a team. I love these competitions because their staff is great and they truly enjoy being there with the kids. Ive never seen a staff entertain so much and communicate and play with KIDS like they do. This is a activity for children and im sure if you ask any of them, they had a great time. Remember it is not about someone trying to cheat you, its about your kids having fun.

Our team has been saying these things during the last two years... we scrapped Jamz competitions after the 06 Nationals fell apart... they served alcohol during the competition which started at 5:00am and went until 11:30pm... Drunk parents mixed with bad judging and unfair placements, Can you say "total disaster" Jamz could have a lot to offer... they run a fun competition, the kids enjoy the games and tumbling up until the 5th hour of being there... I agree that maybe if everyone bans Jamz comps... they might change their ways?!?!?!

I think it is hard to stop a casino in vegas from serving alcohol.  I can understand not serving in the comp venue but since it is attached to the hotel it would be difficult to stop it.

Aww, I'm sorry to hear this.   We had a wonderful time at Jamz in Vegas last year and thought the judging was very fair.   They even let us videotape which was cool since the year before they were pretty strict about it.  We're looking forward to Jamz Nationals again this year, but I can understand the complaints I've been reading.  They have made some changes in the past so maybe they are open to more.

After reading through all the post about Jamz I have to say I am not shocked to read so much negativity about this orginization as a whole. Although the Jamz staff is wonderful and the kids absolutely enjoy them.  Their competitions are less desirable.  There are quite a few things I hope they work on in the upcoming season. Outside/out of state judges for one.  Staff memebers not working the same day there teams are competing.  seperate high schoo, youth and allstar competitions . more awards through out the day to ease long competition days esp for the younger teams.  Better warm ups - as far as scheduling them so you arent either running off the practice mat to perform or waoiting so long after you warm up the athtletes muscles are cold again.  Most companies have mastered this Jamz needs to get on board.
Jamz really needs to not give out a bid to every team for nationals or either just have an open nationals. It is bothersome to go to a nationals you had to qualify for and watch teams that are not technically competitive for that type of nationals.  You wouldnt mind if it was an open nationals

Honestly, serving alcohol? Vegas, Casino hello.  What did you expect going to Vegas.  Sounds like you just dont like JAMZ.  That is okay but come on.  "Disaster" just taking it too far.. Which gym are you from? I guess I wont get an answer because this is anonymous.  I am just so tired of people complaining why dont you put in the hard work and hours that JAMZ does to coordinate a competition then maybe once you have walked in their shoes you can complain.  I understand the late competition time, there is a reason for everything and I know 100% Jamz did not intentionally make it late.  I think that is what happened and they did not want to turn teams away which seems to be fair.

We love Jamz Nationals in Vegas.  We go every year, we're going again this year.  Some people just don't like Jamz and love to come on here and bash them.  If you don't like them don't go.  You won't be missed, Jamz Nationals always has plenty of competition year after year and I don't see that changing.

Of all the complaints that we are hearing about JAMZ  I ask one questions, tell us your gym.  It just seems unfair that you come on here anonymously and bash JAMZ.  If you feel strongly about something why hide.. state your gym and why.  The same people are on her stating tell JAMZ how you feel when they continue to remain anonymous.   To JAMZ I would bet that who are bashing did not even attend the competition in Davis.  They continue to make comments about JAMZ and hide under the anonymous name because that is what they do best.  Talk about others and then hide behind an anonymous name.  They even go so far as to make up lies.   Come on.  If it is anonymous it is unreliable.  I think it is the same person who comes on here anonymously several times under different anonymous names.  I believe if you have something to say negative dont be a coward and hide behind a anonymous board speak up.  I love to have an anonymous board however it is so unprofessional to talk down others and stay anonymous.  If you have an opinion or question keep it professional.  What i find interesting is to hear them on here stating they stopped going to JAMZ in 06, because of this or that.  It is plain and simple we can see who went to JAMZ in 06 and we can see who has not attended a single jamz competition since.  It is obvious who the person is.. Just look up the schedules and by deductive reasoning you have your answer.
