It was brought up in another thread so I thought I would start its own topic.
Do you think there are Jr 5 teams out there that could beat Sr 5?
I think we've already seen this with CA Jags at 2006 Worlds. That team competed all year long as Jr Coed 5 team and then went to 1 competition as Small Sr 5 and received a bid to Worlds. They won Worlds that year! They did replace some of those junior kids with Senior level kids, but I believe the core of the team was still intact. And of course, this was Cheer Athletics, one of the best programs in the world.
I think we would have to look at all aspects, not just tumbling. Do you think Jr 5 teams have better or comparible flying technique? Do you think they can project better "attitude" in the dance section?
What Jr 5 teams out there today do you think could compete as Sr 5 team and win at major competitions like USA, NCA, UCA, Cheersport Nationals? Not just your local regional competition where there are only 2 or 3 teams.

I propose that kids on junior teams have more enthusiasm and excitement not to mention possibly agility, they showboat more and seem to put up some very comparable solid stunts, without naming names because you don't want the controversy in the gym, we all know this would be a sore subject.
JMO- A lot of coachs get overwhelmed by the word Senior and Junior, they want to take a senior team to worlds and win that is their ultimate goal. But I submit that they could take a junior team and win and that win could be just as fulfilling.
I don't see a point in comparing the two divisions. It's like comparing apples and oranges. I like the AA junior routine although it is lacking for me quite a bit in stunting (elites and tosses). Tumbling is great though, which I would expect from a cheergyms team.
Is this team seeking a bid? First time I've seen the video, thanks for posting it.
the junior team on the video posted above is really good....... for a junior team. i dont think that they could compete in a senior division against some of the top teams and come out on top. they are lacking some skills in my eyes as well. but its still early in the season and that could very well change. in a junior division id expect them to do great things though... great job AA

i agree I saw them at American grand and to me they could not beat a sr 5 team. they were good but the they had a layouts and fulls and probably 2 doubles

This is my point exactly if you moved the apple to an orange, they could hang!!! These girls don't have any of those things in the routine because they are not a SR team, but if added to the routine with the skills they already have I feel they could pull it off, they may not place in the top two, but there is little doubt in my mind third or fourth.

Yep those would be cool if they all hit and hit cleanly. But with so few body lines, it's a big risk I think to have one of them be something that's likely to carry mistakes. And am I crazy or was there just the one single toss behind the pyramid? I don't remember any others. The kick-up scorps are cool though, no doubt.
ya so far there are only 2 total tosses. the routine is only at 2:00 so there's still some adding on to go. they only practice once a week for 1 hour so this is all they could get together thus far.
I am a little late on this posting. Watching the Junior AA, I think they have a lot of talent. If these kids practice one a week for an hour (like said above), then someone has to know that that is hard to get a routine together. Its a developing routine. You just gotta tighten it up and fix some of those jump (ekk some are way low!) and continue to excel, you got a great team there. I think they did a great job for being as young as they are and having pulled that together. I do think a Jr. team (maybe not this one) can out beat a sr. team. REMEMBER, IN THE ALLSTAR WORLD WE COMBINE AGES LIKE CRAZY AND NO ONE IS BETTER THEN THE OTHER. You are only as good as the weakest person on your team. For example, I noticed the girl in the front who had jumps that were so low and didnt even look at the other kids who had jumps up to their ears.
Ok, so here's another way to look at it. If every single team in Northern Cal was compete against each other in the same division........how would the placings look. Of course we're just guessing here and if you haven't seen every team is hard to guess but whatever. I think the top 11 final standings might look like this. Not looking to anger anyone. Just conversatin.
1. Power Large Sr. 5 2. All American CoEd 5 3. Power Small Sr. 5 4. Airborne Small Sr. 5 5. Power Sr. 4 6. Pyramids Sr. 4 7. All American Jr. 5 8. Nor Cal Coed 5 9. Pyramids Jr. 4 10. Odyssey Coed 5 11. SJ Legends Sr 3
1. Power Large 5 2. All American Coed 5 3. Power Small 5 4. Power Large 4 5. Pyramids Small 4 6. Airborne Small Sr 5 7. All American Jrs 5 8. Odyssey Sr Coed 5 9. Motions Coed 4 10. NCE Coed 5
Only doing 10 cause 11 seems weird like super seven last year
I agree with the first post. Power and Cheergyms Senior 4's would be in the top five for me also. Actually maybe Motions senior coed 4 would be in that top 5 too, but they do not seem as deep in talent as the other 4 teams. Talented kids yes just not as many.
