I am still floored that the competition runs late into the night. I swear there was another post about nationals where someone metioned the idea of Jamz going way to late. Another person got mad and said they did this last year. Well, it looks to me like they are heading in that direction. WOOP. I hate late competitions.
Earlier a post was talking about Jamz Nationals having awards at midnight, but that wasn't last year, it was two years ago. But I agree these awards are late for a Sunday night.
I don't really understand why they don't divide it up in a more rational way. Do all the youth/rec, then maybe schools, then dance, then AS cheer. Or whatever, but just group them together. The way JAMZ does it (youth 2, then senior 4, then junior hip hop, then middle school novice, then mini 1, etc) drives me bonkers. There's just no rhyme or reason to how it's organized.
I am not quite sure which schedule you are looking at... here is a link to the schedule for the JAMZ DAVIS COMPETITION - http://jamz.com/pdf/200708_Champ_Davis_Schedule.pdf You had me scared that i was looking at the wrong competition schedule until i checked the website. I have two daughters and it would have been horrible if i showed up at the wrong times!
Wait... are we talking about the USA competition on Saturday??? Or the jamz competition on sunday where my sons team has ten other teams to compete against?
We really don't have much to choose from in Nor Cal. Southern California has the bigger named companies. WE have cheersport , athletic championships, jamfest, GSSA, Americas Best, and Jamz. There are some other local comps, but for the most part thats what we have. We need NCA, Coastal Alliance, Champion, Champion Cheer Express, All Star Challenge, WSF, and other organizations. I am one who is way OVER Jamz,USA,and GSSA.
JAMZ, have to say done with them. just checked the schedule. they want the little one's to stay all day and night. It's too difficult asking a tiny to perform at 2:30 and wait until 9:30 pm for the results. that's just crazy.
coastal alliance tried to come to nor cal the last two years. it didn't work for them so they didn't come back this year.
Still like GSSA and UCA.
Why can't they offer All Star Only competitions and have Youth, School, and Rec teams go on a completely different day. Same as studio dance competitions. It's studio based teams only at event such as Starpower. I think it would make the days shorter, awards easier, and just easier on everyone so nobody has to be at a cheer competition very late in the evening. I am not sure about everyone else but leaving cheerleading events at 10:00 PM is not fun.
Yes, it's true that the competitions run late, but you dont have to wake up at 7:00AM if your son or daughter is competing in the second session. Let them rest. Another thing is that my daughter does hip hop and cheer. I do not want to either spend the money on gas to drive back the next day or even spend the money on a hotel. I think it's great that they have cheer and dance all in one day. Hence the name "JAMZ CHEER AND DANCE"

Since Jamz regionals combine small with large teams (something I do not agree with at all), there is usually enough competition in each division to satisfy most. The schedule for this one is strange and unorganized, mixing dance with cheer. I like the idea of keeping dance and high school gyms separate.
I dont care if i am competing with a SMALL or a LARGE team. The point of a competition is to compete! If they split there would be no one in the divisions. THEN THERE IS NO POINT! I dont want to go watch my daughters exhibition i want to watch her compete! I have two kids, one in dance and one in cheer. I think its great combining them, so i dont have to waste money driving to the same location two days in a row! Or having to be there from 8am to 9pm!
Maybe one reason gyms compete in all their Xtreme competitions is the prize money, which is attractive for larger gyms and comes in handy for those getting ready for Worlds. Most if not all the other regionals do not offer cash prizes.
Small gyms have won cash prizes there too. It's a nice incentive; I agree that might be what draws some gyms there. I also agree Jamz has too many local regionals.
i just looked at the website and was expecting to see a huge list for this area... I only counted three. 2 of which have more competition then any other company my gym has went through this season.

I do think at least the dance portions should be run on a different day or an alternate location. The dance teams shouldn't be performing on a spring floor anyway. They don't need the spring floor nor the entire 54 x 43 square foot area.
Perhaps the rental of the facility has something to do with it. It's probably cheaper to rent the facility for one day versus two. In addition, you don't have to pay your competition staff for an additional day, etc. It's all about how much money these competition hosts profit.
Maybe they do it for parents like me!! i have kids in both cheer and dance and i would be furious if i had to run from location to location and have the chance to miss one of my kids performances! If it was on two days i would have to keep one of my kids from performing because i couldnt afford the gas back and forth or a hotel for the night!
yup. odyssey is going to jamz competition but why does it matter?
HUH ?
I'm there with ya...huh?
cheer odyssey is a really good team as well as starstruck, cheergyms, SWAT, and royals.
GO ROYALS!!!
I am really confused. Did someone say these teams were bad or something?
no one said anything about those teams being bad so where that came from has me confused too.... but hey??????
im glad to see swat actually has to compete against someone this time now if they would make their junior coed team have to compete against someone we could find out where this team stacks up!!
should be a fun competition coming off from vacate

Let the games begin!
Good luck! Let us know how it goes. It's going to an interesting competition coming back from winter break.

You need to look at the regional competitions and the xtreme, they are divided into separate categories even though they are all regional. There are 6... Turlock, Davis, SF, Stockton, and 2 in Vallejo. The xtreme championships seem to draw more of a turnout, cash prizes will do that. But the turnout for the regionals has been dismal.
Junior Show Cheer Level 3 Youth AS Cheer Xperience
Cheergyms com Motions Juniors
Royal All Stars Junior Team
Gym Weavers Tigers Elite
So Cal Rockstars
I am looking forward to this division and seeing some fresh teams. (Haven't seen Gym Weavers or SoCal yet this season and my daughter competes in this division.)
I am also curious to see Nevada Twisters - haven't heard of them before. Anyone else?
