id be suprised if they have a large turn out this year after what happened at their competition last year. It sucks to lose to a team whose coach is a judge. a lot of the teams that were there last year i know for a fact will not be returning again. I actually know of three programs who refuse to ever go back to a jamz competition.
How can a judge be from a team that is performing? Why aren't more people speaking up about this and refusing to attend. That is just wrong if it is true! I am glad my gym doesn't attend jamz Not a huge fan at all
This is the first time I've seen this brought up, and I read this board and the other often. I highly doubt the attendance at Jamz Nationals will be impacted unless this is widely known and proven, not just alleged. I see coaches judging competitions all the time; you are not allowed to judge your own gym, but you can judge competitive gyms. Was this a coach who used to work for this gym maybe?
We'll be attending Jamz Nationals because it's a great competition and only gets stronger every year; you only need to look at how many compete in each division to see the proof of that. And now that they have separated dance they don't have the issue of very late night awards like they did year before last.
POWER has gone in the past but is not going this year. It is a fun comp, but it makes for a long day with all of the awards. POWER is trying Spirit Sports in Palm Springs instead. Us not going back has nothing to do with the judging. I think they have always been fair
JAMZ has that feeling of shadiness. You can say it does not but it does. You can go on multiple programs myspaces and she their staff in JAMZ uniforms and hanging out with kids. It just looks very unprofessional. I know that you are going to say that other programs have that too, but the big ones do not. I think it will always be a second tier competition until they clean this up
my team is going this year. we've been going there for the last 5 years. they have so much energy at their competitions and makes my parents love going to their competitions. i take my kids where they have the most fun. see airborne there, good luck! who else is going?
That is totally true! Jamz really has their stuff together. If you look at the bios of the judges in their programs at nationals, they get the best judges to judge these talented kids. They get people from NCA, UCA, NDA; coaches from Moorehead State in Kentucky, coaches from Hawaii Pacific University, former and or currently professional cheerleaders from the NBA and NFL. They also have people who are known to the cheer world in taking multiple championships, just take a look at their rings o their fingers!

I'm a proud parent who used to cheer and now my daughter cheers. I pretty much know who the judges are at diffrent competitions other than jamz. I haven't really seen any judges at any competitions judge their own team. I know that jamz have coaches there that judge, but jamz never are alowed to bring their team to compete at that event. I know other companies do that and I was asked to judge for a USA event and told them that my daughter would be competing in that competition. So, they told me that they would call me back to judge at a diffrent competion where my daughter's team wouldn't be at.

I think that their judges are fair. Coaches complain about everything. I complain about why my team was deducted for a certain stunt or tumbling pass. we all as coaches and as people want to get ahead! That's how the world turns. I banned my team from ever going to a UCA and Jamfest competitions 2 years ago, due to what i thought was poor judging and very unorganized companies. We all think our teams are the best and always strive for them to take first. Now, sit yourself back and replay the time where your team took second place. Did they really should of taken second place? Or did the first place winners deserve it? We at that particular moment (at the compeition) have that adrenaline rush. I know my team at nationals took 4th place and they deserved it! They did their best and thats all that counts. The team that placed in First really did their homework. I know I babble alot but, those were my words of coach wisdom to share on. Good luck to every team in the cheer world!
Talk is cheap, list the names of the bias judges used by Jamz. I for one will again attend the Jamz Nationals. I have never seen a more honest and upfront company.
