There way no reason for this topic to turn negative. Let's all be the bigger people and do not respond to any negativity on this post. Whereever you cheer. Good for you. Gyn owners- if you can open a gym in any area soon, more power to ya.
Good Luck to Cheergyms and Power in Vegas. I heard you guys were working out together when you get there. How fun !
I agree. And to be honest, what has AP or CSE gained this season from their partnership? They got to go to camp with Cheergyms (brings in more money to cheergyms) and they GET to let their top athletes cheer for All-American (which I imagine benfits cheergyms). AP and CSE don't seem to have a dramatic change in their style or presentation. I don't see all the gyms rooting for each other at comps. Lastly, and probably I over-analyzed this, but where is AP in Nelson's video? =)
Both AP and CSE are doing fine. AP continues to thrive and from thier performances so far this year are doing great. Love thier Senior Level 2 teams choreography. CSE is only in it's second year and has grown and continues to grow. This cheer season they have placed well at every competition they have attended and will continue to improve. As far as changes in thier style that was never the intent when they affiliated with Cheergyms. They are separate gyms, with thier own owners and coaches. They all have thier own unique style and that will not change. As far Nelson's video, it is a video of the Cheergyms teams and a good one at that. I love it. All of these gyms have thier own unique style and I wish them all good luck this season.
I think you are missing the point, which is what did they gain with the partnership? They may be doing fine but the question is would they have been doing fine without it? I would guess yes. I respect and admire cheergyms, but I agree it is not for everyone, as we have seen with the closing of gyms. Someone made an excellent point about the economy and how it may impact all star gyms; I sure hope that isn't the case.
Regarding the partnership: It was my understanding that the primary reasons were business related. (It makes sense to me that it is cheaper to get insurance for a larger group... just one example of a benefit.) Since I am not an owner, I wouldn't expect to see all of the benefits.
I can only imagine that the camp benefitted everyone involved. I have seen prices for other overnight camps, and for smaller gyms it is outrageous. I have always been impressed with how reasonably priced cheergyms camp is (especially coming from gymnastics camp experience! - One week for $1700+). I very well could be wrong, but I would bet that AP and CSE would have had to pay more for camp on their own.
I have seen the teams support each other at comps. My observation is that it hasn't trickled down to all of the parents yet, but I believe that will change with time.

I don't think this poster was missing the point. They addressed the comment made about not seeing any dramatic changes in AP's or CSE's style. I think they were politely ignoring the rather rude comment made at the end.
1. the special needs team isnt on the video either. i doubt that would indicate a sour business relationship between cheergyms and special neds.
2. who are we to question the gains in the business gains between the relationship of ap, cse and cheergyms? i have a feeling if we contacted them directly they still wouldnt tell us. thats like asking how much a gym really profits.
I will comment on the Special Needs Team. Nelson did not film them. Simply as that. As there coach I am fine with that. You will all have to wait to see their greatness unfold even more at the next comeptition! Nelson is good but he can not be in two place at once (unless we has powers he has not told us about). He did a great job on the video. We are so lucky that we even have something to look at after the comeptitions. Thanks Nelson!

For us it may be the price of gas that will determine if we'll continue with the gym we're currently with. 40 miles each way adds up, and since there is no one we can carpool with and the price of gas will most likely jump even higher, it will be a tough call next season. If our daughter still wants to cheer we may just find something closer, even though we know it won't be the same as what we're used to.
Most gyms in Northern California are hanging on by a very thin financial thread. Rent is high, numbers are declining due to a declining economy, and it's true that cheer is not a priority for people who are having their PG&E turned off or losing their homes. The economy is poor, and cheer is definitely not a necessity for most families.
Our program almost doubled this year and are already starting classes for people wanting to be on next years teams. We are a gymnastics and cheer gym and we are thriving in a small community, competing against the large populous area cheer gyms.

Where are you located? I thought some gyms give discounts to help offset the costs associated with getting to their gym
I don't think a team loses it's identity when joining Cheergyms. I think it just gains support and a bigger family. I think it's a win-win idea. And it is possible to open a cheer gym and thrive. You just have to know how to draw them in. And being with the Cheergym name definately won't hurt, that's for sure.

I never checked on that, but I will! Thanks for the suggestion.
Just a question that pertains to how all of these teams benefited from the cheergyms.com, Ap, CSE "merger". How many kids from Ap and CSE are on the All American teams?

Jodi I love your special needs team and what you guys are doing with them. They are Fierce (smile) Keep up the great work with them. My hats is off to you. Im guessing they go undefeated all year
Just a question but if UCF has worked hard to make name for themselves then why would they want to partner with Cheergyms. Every gym has its own style. The styles should be embraced, do not assume that every gym in Nor Cal wants to be like cheergyms. If that was the case all of the former cheergyms locations would still be open. Please dont take my comment as rude, its just as a non cheergyms person sometimes it seems like some of you feel like cheergyms is here to save the day, when many gyms survive and thrive on their own.
you definitely have a point about the uniqueness of each gym. I really think this is why competition are so much fun to watch. Each club has their own style and there are times when you look at a routine and say, that was entertaining. And I really wouldn't want that to go away.
But there are some talented cheerleaders, in small gyms, that would love the opportunity to compete on a world potential team. They know that they will not have the opportunity in their designated gyms to make a full team, but the chance to work out with a cluster of others would be quite an experience.
UCF (and other NorCal gyms) probably has cheerleaders that would probably ask were to sign up for an experience like this.
Airborne is another gym that has lots of talent and would probably jump at an opportunity like this.
