I agree Cheergyms!!! Lets take a pole of who would join maybe if they see there are so many of us that would love a gym here. They will open up one!  I think the Elk Grove area or some place like that.

I have two girls that would join age 13(level 4) and 8(level2)

Yeah, well I know about 1/2 a youth team and probably at least 3 or 4 junior/seniors (level 4)

We have been begging cheergyms to come or for Cheer Odyssey to open a gym closer to Elk Grove... they are WAAAAAY on the other side of Stockton.

It would depend where down south, location is everything (as we know from other cheergyms gyms that have closed down over the years).   It is not easy to open an all star gym these days.

Personally, I do feel this subject was to throw daggers at a Elk Grove gym, yet again.  Whatever!

Here are some facts about Elk Grove.

1.  There is a huge cheer population that is heavy in the pop warner/jr programs.  The current All Star programs can't seem to change this strong bond to the jr.  Football.  These jr programs have all the young girls convinced that if you don't cheer through the jr. program, you won't be successful making the high school teams.

3.  High school cheer takes a ton of talent.  These high schools discourage their girls to cheer anywhere else but at their school.  The high schools do not compete but still do not allow their girls to miss a practice session at high school nor do the coaches look for ways to alter a schedule so a cheerleader can do both.  So, it is very raw that the local high school cheerleaders do both high school cheer and All-Star cheer.

2.  $$$$ are a huge concern.  If you want to open a gym, be prepared to make little profit.   The gym owners need to get in the business because of their passion for the sport and not the paycheck.

3.  There is currently an all star program located in Elk Grove.  In addition, there is another all star program in South Sac, that is minutes away from Elk Grove.

4.  Timin -and finally, the foreclosures that are popping up all over (economy is hurting in Elk Grove), are trickly down to the luxury items (yes, cheerleading is a luxury), and everyone is tightening their wallets.

Perhaps, opening up any business would be bad timing for now.  The economy shows no sign of improvement, yet.  I say go where the money is and make something happen.  Southern California is the best bet at this time.

You bring up VALID points, but I think your wrong in assuming a few things.

1. Cheerleading is a luxury item, but it would hurt all areas, not just Elk Grove.

2. If you have good product, then people will always flock to you. Plus you get all stars from everywhere, not just the local area.

3. All of Northern California is obsessed with youth/pop warner cheerleading for some reason. You can make it work if there is proper scheduling. If need be the all star team can practice one weeknight and one weekday.

4. There really is no right time to open up honestly. You just have to do it.

5. It's easy to say not look for a paycheck, but you can't live like that, and there are ways to make money and still be honest.

6. The all star gyms should educate their customers so they won't be blind sighted by the youth and high school coaches. If  those teams don't compete then they shouldn't be practicing when a all star team would practice.

I don't think this subject is to throw daggers at elk grove cheer companies at all.  There is a need for that area where the teams are really competitive.  I do believe that there is one all star gym in elk grove that is making a huge name for itself & they are very competitive. Maybe cheergyms can team up **cough cough ucf** with them (i think someone mentioned that in an earlier post).
Now that would be great!  hint hint.

Just a question but if UCF has worked hard to make name for themselves then why would they want to partner with Cheergyms.  Every gym has its own style.  The styles should be embraced, do not assume that every gym in Nor Cal wants to be like cheergyms.  If that was the case all of the former cheergyms locations would still be open.  Please dont take my comment as rude, its just as a non cheergyms person sometimes it seems like some of you feel like cheergyms is here to save the day, when many gyms survive and thrive on their own.

I agree. And to be honest, what has AP or CSE gained this season from their partnership? They got to go to camp with Cheergyms (brings in more money to cheergyms) and they GET to let their top athletes cheer for All-American (which I imagine benfits cheergyms). AP and CSE don't seem to have a dramatic change in their style or presentation. I don't see all the gyms rooting for each other at comps. Lastly, and probably I over-analyzed this, but where is AP in Nelson's video? =)

I think people people throw around "opening" a gym like it is so easy. In todays economy I would be very cautious about opening a gym it is not easy. I think many people have realized that because many gyms have closed it the last fews years in NorCal.

Most gyms in Northern California are hanging on by a very thin financial thread.  Rent is high, numbers are declining due to a declining economy, and it's true that cheer is not a priority for people who are having their PG&E turned off or losing their homes.  The economy is poor, and cheer is definitely not a necessity for most families.

Both AP and CSE are doing fine.  AP continues to thrive and from thier performances so far this year are doing great.  Love thier Senior Level 2 teams choreography.  CSE is only in it's second year and has grown and continues to grow.  This cheer season they have placed well at every competition they have attended and will continue to improve.  As far as changes in thier style that was never the intent when they affiliated with Cheergyms.  They are separate gyms, with thier own owners and coaches.  They all have thier own unique style and that will not change.    As far Nelson's video, it is a video of the Cheergyms teams and a good one at that.  I love it.  All of these gyms have thier own unique style and I wish them all good luck this season.

The suggestion was made so that we would not have to pick either of the two dagger throwing gyms

ouch a little harsh right?

the stab at cheergyms was kind of rude, especially on THEIR message board.

I actually think their partnership creates great opportunities for the ATHELETES. Have you seen all american at all? their impressive, and I'm so proud to say they are from Northern California.

Why would you make a comment like this.  It really was not necessary.
