Okay, I've waited long enough and no one else has posted information on Worlds Bids. So I guess I'll take up the mantel again this season (yes, I'm still obsessed). Lets not forget all those other bid races outside of the west coast!

another great battle! Look at all those Senior 5 teams! That would be so fun to watch. I wish everyone a great competition. I hope every team hits their stunts and tumbling passes. Good luck!
I'll post results from DAY 1. For some reason long posts are no longer allowed. So it will be in several messages. Overall folks are saying they weren't overly impressed and there were lots of mistakes. Also sounds like there were some serious injuries.

First bids of the season and of course contraversy has already surfaced. If you want to keep up with the story you can go to prox message board. But here is the basic story, copied from one of the posts from prox:
"...No, I use to be on ICE so talked to a few parents and kids of coed and they told me the story... ice got a deduction for a safety violation. something about not holding a flyers ankle in a part of the routine. so their coach brought it up with wsf because they DID hold the ankle and he showed pictures from ice's photographer and the ankle was held. so they took away the deduction and ICE would have a higher score than celebrity putting them in first. but WSF said they cannot take away a first place from them it would be wrong. but my question is.. isn't it wrong that they aren't giving ICE the proper recognition for the performance, they should just give both teams 1st and ICE the jackets.
also heard their score would've been higher than cheer command, which would mean ICE would get the paid bid. but then again WSF can't do that.
i dont know i think its bogus... it was WSF's mistake, not ICE's so they should still give ICE their rightful award....

Does it make a difference for the bids? If so that's a pretty big deal. If it's just placements, that's fixable. We had a situation last year where we were given a penalty for a stunt that was not legal...but they did not call us down to speak with the rules official to verify it or anything, just *bam* there's 10 points from your score, which cost us the win. When I saw the penalty on the score sheet I produced an email from USASF that showed we had contacted them and indeed the stunt was legal...so the penalty was removed and we were the winner of that division. However, they didn't want to "take away" first from the original winner, so they called it a tie for first, but posted the scores so it was shown what really happened. So if it's just in placements it's fixable (although annoying for the team that should have won, I agree having been there)...but if it's about bids, yikes...I don't know what they would do. It's WSF's mistake, they need to make sure the right team gets the bid, and in thise case, the right kind of bid (if the change in score makes a difference between what they get here).
I can't imagine as a judge taking a penalty for something illegal without double-checking it on video first...especially in Worlds bids divisions.

Yeah, It Makes A Big Difference! If You Get A Paid Bid You Dont Have To Pay To Go To Worlds!
I realize that. That's not what I meant. I'm asking if the difference in the scores (following the review) would have made enough of a difference in the scores that a team that was originally given an at-large should have received a paid bid.
For example, the score was 9.08 after the penality. If, with the penalty removed, the score would have been above 9.32, the bid would have been a paid bid rather than the at-large they received.

You know for a fact what the penalty was and how it effected the score? Because that's what I'm asking...
Actually, I can look it up myself I think...
The penalty is .1. So I've just done the math three different ways, and I can't even get it to give them the win over Celebrity, much less a higher score than Cheer Command. There's got to be something else going on here. Maybe some math major wants to take a stab at it but I can't get it to work out the way it's being said it happened.

Okay the word from Celebrity is that their staff and ICE's staff were rounded up and told by WSF that even with the error corrected, it did not affect the standings or the bids. So Celebrity did win coed, with ICE 2nd. And that meshes with my math and a couple of other people who have taken a stab at it as well.
I feel that if I was part of Celebrity I would not understand why the placement would not change. I would feel upset and confused. As a coach I may get it, but as a kid and parent I cant image how they would feel. I feel for that coaching staff and how many calls and emails they will have to take when they probably dont agree with the outcome. Kudos to them.
