I don't have any results but I LOVED:

San Jose Legends (lrg sr 3)
Cheer Divas (sr coed 3)
Airborne (sm sr 5)

Best 3 routines of the day IMO. My youth aged daughter was in awe.

UCF Senior 4 - This team has gotten a bad wrap for no reason. They covered the score sheet better than both the other senior 4. They'll be just fine at this level against this caliber of level 4 teams. BTW did they change their music to add my porogative? If they did nice move!

Was this a Spirit Innovation convention? By the end of the day the uniforms should of all had price tags on them. Where's the uniform police, some of these uniforms were painful. Airborne's uniforms ranged from pretty to pole dancer with the senior 3 being the best and senior 5 the worst. And the team in metallic red from Nevada looked like Sissy Spasek in the final scene of Carrie. Way to many knock off Power uniforms which by the way is simply a knock of f of Twist and Shout's uniform. Legends (red/white/black) remain the best on the floor.

On a good note, cheerdivas did a good job dropping down to level 3, once they get cleaned up they should do well in this division. Legends looked their best this time around. As for Airborne great effort trying to be level 5 you gotta start somewhere this was a good place.

One last thing, a tip - you can't have kids running from one formation to the other side of the floor for the dance formation it ruins the routine a little.

The hard thing to watch all day was all these youth parents trying to start allstar teams. Scary stunts, unsafe tumbling and just horrific choreography, where's USASF when we need them I guarantee there's no one certified in these organizations.

Best of luck the rest of the season.

Great Showing for UCF!  All levels were fun to watch from the tinys to the Seniors.  I may be a bit biased here because I am another UCF level 4 cheerleader's parent. =]

Tinys - 1st place
Youth - 1st place
Junior - 2nd place
Senior - 1st place - we didn't have competition but our girls still scored well. Right up there with the other level 4 teams.=]

Thank you for being objective about our Senior 4 team.  These girls have been plagued with injuries this season and they are really battling and moving forward.  The silly thing is that these injuries are not caused by cheerleading just culmsy little things teenagers do.

It was a great day for the entire UCF gym!  Shout out to our coaches and owners.  You all are amazing!  MUAH!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello All!

I was at the competition this past weekend and was quite impressed with some of the performances:

San Jose Legends - Beautiful skills and choreography. It seems that this team could go level 4...what are the chances of that this season?
Airborne - Trying to go level 5 is a huge under-taking, many programs don't even try to go there and I am impressed with their first showing this weekend at AB. Their senior level 2 was clean and level 3 entertaining, although they did seem to have some problems. I will be interested to see how they perform the rest of the season...they seem to always have a strong level 3 team.
Cheer Divas - I love your new uniforms and was totally impressed with your senior coed 3 team. They will be a force this year. Do they have new coaching this season?

I am a bit saddened that one of the above comments referred to Airborne's level 5 uniforms as 'pole dancer'-esque. Nor is that appropriate or considerate. The girls seemed to love the uniforms and their performance was beautiful in them. The emphasis on crop-top, no crop-top and uniform design in general has been blown out of proportion. The athletes are in their uniforms at competitions only, and most of the time they wear t-shirts over their crop-tops while not on the floor or warming up anyway. Let it go. Good for Airborne for testing the waters and being different. You go girls!

Negativity aside, I am excited for the next big competition. Bring it!

Thanks to Anon3784 for the comments about Airborne and for defending our girls new uniforms.  I am an Airborne parent and can say that the girls like their new uniforms.  We were a little concerned when we first saw them, but after seeing them on the girls we thought they were cute and the girls love them.  That was our first outing for all of our teams and I thought they did great!  Our level 5 team is really working hard and have had to overcome a lot over the last few months as far as injuries (mostly non cheer related believe it or not!) and they did awesome all things considered!  I was impressed with quite a few teams yesterday, I thought UCF level 4 did really well considering the things I had read on the boards before seeing them.  SJ Legends was very clean, Cheer Divas is always good, and Starstruck level 4 was good.  It is still very early for all and I can't wait to see how everyone progresses throughout the season!  Good luck everyone!

Thank you airborne mom for the compliment on UCF. We are super proud of the girls. We parents were starting to worry because of the messages as well, but thought they did well due to the fact they have had many minor things going on in the last couple of weeks.  it is very early for all teams, I thought they all did wnderful and as always I loved your teams!!! I liked your uniforms as well.  Every gym has the right to express their creativity and its always fun and exciting to see new things each season. So kudos to Airborne. It was nice to see something different. I have to say sitting in the satnds it was hard to tell Aerials,UCF and Legends apart some times which made most of laugh in the stands. It became a fun joke between the parents on which team was which. But each gym had something unique and I think everyone has done a fantastic job on uniforms.

good luck to everyoone this season and great job to all the teams at americas best

Most of the comments about how UCF's 4 should drop to 3 were posted by members of UCF (or parents) who were concerned about having a disappointing season.  Hopefully they see now that it's too early to make that call and that they have the talent to have a rewarding season.  This competition was great incentive for them.

Lots of talented routines from numerous gyms, it was a lot of fun to watch!!

I know that Cheergyms.com had their Team Cheergyms teams at the high school part of the competition.

On a side note. I think that sometimes people forget that as cheer coaches we love cheer. I kinda go through withdrawals during the summer and can't wait for competitions...even if we are not competing.

We did not have teams competing and I attended Jamfest, partially out of curiousty and partially because I was just excited to be back in the swing of things.

No harm no foul. We all will see routines at some point so its not a big deal to go to comps and watch.

I'm sure it was some covert secret operation to spy on the teams and steal moves and music. Why else would they go. Oh wait. They are cheeraholics, or so I've heard. If there is a competition in town, they will go.

As 'airborne' said...no foul. I was just trying to bring some humor into it and sometimes it gets lost in the seriousness of the boards. Does anyone know what high school teams competed and how they did?
