Everyone looked great yesterday! I saw most of the divisions and everyone looks like the kinks are getting worked out and everyone is feeling more comfortable on the floor - a lot fewer falls than in the previous competitions.

I hope the girl from LVE is okay. That was one scary fall! I was very impressed that LVE staff came onto the floor to take her off rather than let her try to finish the routine in obvious pain. Very classy. Not so cool was how the medical staff handled it afterwards - I really thought they should have taken her back to the warmup room rather than out to the middle of the spectators. I work in medical so I know hindsight is 20/20 with stuff like this and it's easy to Monday-morning-quarterback it, but they sort of ended up making a spectacle out of the whole thing...I saw a random person taking pictures of the girl as she was strapped to the spine board! How terrible for her and her program. And the person taking pictures should be ashamed of themselves!!

Anyway, great job to everyone and I really enjoyed watching CO, Riptides, POWER (especially senior open 2, loved it), and NCE's open 6.

I am exhausted both mentally and physically what an amazing weekend. Our guys and girls really worked their butts off. All of the programs were amazing this weekend. It was so nice to see girls from different programs sitting and playing together. I wanted to comment on a few things because I heard some comments on the way out of the auditorium.

We at Odyssey are a great program and in no way did we mean any disrespect to the 2nd place programs in our divisions. My daughters team Senior 2 Aeries has approx 70% of the team which is brand new too all stars and this is their 2nd time winning first place so they were overcome with emotion and started cheering during the 2nd place announcement. We did try to tell the girls to wait until Odyssey was announced but again they could not contain themselves. Another reason why our girls were so overcome with emotion is because of all of the talk on these boards telling them they were not good enough to compete in Level 5 or against teams like NCE ect. When someone tells you that you cant achieve something and you do, It is just such an amazing rush for these girls to beat such a worthy competitor.

Nor Cal I wanted to say your team was Phenomenal and you really gave us a run for our money. I really enjoyed watching the Nor Cal teams. I just love the choreography style. I assure you our coaches were doing their best to tell the girls to wait until their team was announced. I am sure this has happened to other programs and I hope all of you know, our program meant no disrespect and congratulate all of you for the great competition. It was close and we know that we can expect some tough competition this year. Thanks everybody and well see some of you on Dec 1st at Jamz.

Odyssey mom that was really nice for you to come on here and try to clear up things. BUT we all know that these kids are criticized if they cry because they lost or if they celebrate because they won. Its been an ongoing discussion and debate on the boards and just in the comp arena for a long time. Its emotions and sometimes you just lose yourself and its ok there really isnt any harm in either crying or celebrating. Everyone must know that he kids arent sitting there going lets scream when they cal  second if we get first it is a natural emotion of excitement and being proud

these kids are always getting scolded picked on and ridiuled for silly things they are kids people and really no harm done im sure

enjoy your first places

I agree - sometimes emotions take over.  Not a big deal to me and it doesnt bother meone bit - but what people might have been upset about was the chanting of CO   CO   CO when 2nd place was called because Odyssey was going to place 1st.  Odyssey had some really great teams yesterday and wow the parents or children reacted to their placing should not over-shadow their wins.

Congradulatons Odyssey  and Great Job to all the teams who went out yesterday!

I agree with the chanting of the CO too early and again I apologize. It is our responsibility as parents and coaches to teach our children good sportsmanship. It was our first 1st place finish of the day when the CO chanting began so we had not anticipated that parents and children would chant during the 2nd place awards. We want to make sure all of the athletes on all teams get their moment in the spotlight. Hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving! biggrin

Your right it does start with the parents and coaches to teach the athletes and the PARENTS the right thing to do. Having class is harder to teach than a standing full.

Somebody please share their thoughts on the Small Senior Level 4 placements.  I watched all three teams and do not agree with the rankings.

Is there a reason why they HAVE to name 2nd place at all? Just name first and end this silliness once and for all.

I watched all the level 4 divisions and I thought Cheer Xplosion's level 4 looked really good, I didn't understand the placements.  They had a lot more going on in their routine, maybe they had more girls, I can't remember.   Roseville's Level 4 team seems different this year, different coaching maybe?  Their level 2 team did awesome (Roseville's).

I am from NCE and while I did think the CO chanting was a little premature in some of the earlier divisions.  I thought the girls, boys and parents did a really good job when the Level 5 was announced.  There was excitement but everyone waited until their name was announced to really celebrate.

Unfortunately, we were in the same situation earlier that day with our youth team - they (and we) were so excited that we started cheering when Las Vegas Elements were announced 2nd.  As parents, we apologised to the Elements program.  cry Our little ones were so excited because this was their first win.

I think all the competitors were great yesterday.  Good job to CO on all their successes this weekend and best of luck this year to everyone.  It's shaping up to be a great season biggrin

I would love to see the score sheets for the whole day really.
I can not remember exactly if there were some big mistakes or not.
But I do know, Evolution Dragons worked thier butts off!
Good Job to all the girls.

so on more of a positive note, i have to admit that this weekend had alot of really amazing performances.

Riptides really made a great impression. They're stunting is very impressive and they do a great job of maxing out on transition difficulty. I love seeing teams that aren't afraid to push the bar and take a few risks for the sake of being clean so early in the season. I really do feel that in regard to skill, there is a way to maximize both difficulty and cleanliness, and i feel Riptides did an awesome job at that.

A few weeks ago at jamfest power large attempted full squad full ups and i applaud them for taking such risks. I really admire both the coaches and atheletes from both programs for taking it to the next level.

I Love that NOR CAL ELITE never fails to deliver a performance. Coach Roy brings such a distinct fun style to n. californian cheerleading, and his kids never miss a beat. Regardless if it hits or misses, they are always giving a show and always getting better. This weekend i ABSOLUTELY LOVED the transitions in their pyramid. They revamped old tricks to make newer more impressive ones (swing around). ALSO...i feel that their elites for senior coed 5 were the best display of flexibility and control i've seen this season thus far. I applaud their fantastic effort and amazingly choreographed/executed skills. I truly LOVEd the competition and thank you for keeping our kids on their toes. We will do our best to revamp our routine and keep providing worthy competition.

Elements had clean well executed tumbling all the way across the board. Its really nice to see a full squad of lay outs that aren't piked, truly competing mastered skills. I'm sure you made a great impression on all the tumbling coaches that attended, keep up the great work and good luck this season. Our juniors can't wait to compete with you all again!

Power really impressed me with a bit of new flare. The younger teams they brought just seemed to really change it up in terms of choreo bringing something fresh and fun to both stunting and dance for all the divisions they competed in.

Majestic, of whom i've never seen, really impressed me with the polish in their routines and their awesome parents/coaches. Probably the nicest group of people we met there, THANK u once again for all your support, u really did help us out so much in terms of confidence.

As far as our kids at odyssey, good job throwing some new skills. It wasn't our best performance to date, but i'm so glad that you all took something positive away from this competition regardless where u placed. Keep pushing and keep working on those skills, competing them will all come in due time, and patience is a virtue.

on a different note completely, american masterpiece had one of the best run practice rooms I have ever been to. OUr kids loved the multiple floors and the hardworking staff who made sure everything was running smoothly.

I miss everyone already and can't wait till the next comp on the 1st.
