CHEER "DADS"

It's nice to see some cheer dads :" ACEDAD & CHEER DAD"!!

I am not sure about other gyms, but so far in our gym this has been the largest show of support from the dads ever and I must say I hope the trend continues.  Last year I was talking to a mom and she was very upset with her husband because he felt that cheer was not a sport, that cheer was stupid and he would never come out to see his daughter cheer.  It was all negative with him.  The sad part was he would stand out in the cold, rain and heat to watch his son play football?  What is up with that!!!  Her daughter would cry before every comp. because her dad would not go.  Well one night he picked her up from cheer and the roll door was up.  Well he saw her tumbling.  The coach was looking at him and said all of a suden he stood up straighter his double chin turned into one, because his head was raised so high.  He was say things like did you see that!, thats my baby!  Lets just say since that day he has not missed a comp.  So I hope the trend continues.  I must say at are last comp. I saw a lot of dads from many gyms proudly wearing there shirts to support there teams.  Way to go, lets keep the treand going!!!!

Wow that pulls at the heart strings I have girls and will support them just the same as if they were a star quarterback.I still remember when my oldest was eight and my youngest was seven and they wanted to try half year I did not know what to expect but when I went to the gym and saw the older kids doing amazing tumbling and stunts I was blown away I never knew how athletic a sport this was. Then to watch my daughters excell and get there skills made me just as proud as a Dad whos son threw the winning touchdown, but the only difference is my girls and there teamates and all the athletes are the winners because they participate in the best sport,Cheer

Yea. I guess it's just a case of misinformation really. They have no idea till they see what their children can do. Emily's father has been to MAYBE 3 competitions in the 8 years she's cheered. Dan (stepdad) has been to almost ALL of them and only misses if he's working and can't call in sick. He's even come to practice in full uniform just to watch her do something new. 4 years ago he thought cheerleaders wore tiny skirts and worked the beer stands.... now he says that a double full is EASY and he can do it with his hands tied but can't show you cause he doesn't want to get hurt before his next competition...

My husband has always been extremely supportive of our three daughters cheerleading. He was even Vice President of Cheer for our youth league for several years, lol. I think it is soooooo important that girls especially get positive support from their fathers in whatever their choosen activity is. I played competitive softball for many years as a teenager and young adult. While this is considered a "real" sport, my Dad never came to see me play a single time. As a grown woman and mother of 4, this still bothers me. YOU GO all you fabulous, supportive cheer dads out there! Wear those shirt and CHEER those daughter on! They will remember it foreversmile

OCMOM -- Love the ARABESQUE!! of DAN -- Can he do pirouettes?

Danielles dad does go to most of the compitions but he is very anti-social (he's an engineer -- nuff said). He brings his computer or gameboy, sits in back and plays his games until she goes on, then goes back....

Interesingly enough when she did Studio dance comps for 1 year, he really had no interest, but as soon as we got back into the AllStar end, he started coming back.

Poor thing was 1 of only handful of dads that went to florida with us and ended up getting the flu. Missed Saturdays performance and the 1st performance on Sunday, but somehow managed to crawl out of bed on sunday afternoon to watch the last one and see the award ceremony and getting her jacket.

Gotta love those cheer/dance dads!

I am on the other end of the cheer dad spectrum, My hubby is at every competition taking pictures and he swears he knows what is going on (we just don't tell him any different lol) he makes the last minute runs to the store if needed, visits the snack bar often, its his day to eat all the unhealthy food he wants without me nagging in his ear. you can hear him yelling the chant on camera off beat and its sooo much fun to listen too. he swears he is not going to yell next competition because he is so embarrased. but that doesnt happen lol
he isnt quite the dress up in the cheer gym gear type of guy but is very supportive and proud of his "little princess" love having him with us he drops us off at the door picks us up in front of the venue. Nothing better that haiving him around even if he has no idea what hes talking about.  He relates everything  all star cheer does to football and if we have to hear in football one more time .................
it's a family affair my sons are in charge of video taping and mom makes sure everything and everyone is organized

we love going as a family. well ok my one son has sworn off cheerleading for his daughters becuase we drag him to every competiition but we know he must be kidding who can not love this sport lol. But we all travel together and its just a fun bonding time for our family.

All of the females in my family are all really invloved with my cheerleading team. (my mom use to the team manager, and my oldest sister Andrea has been my coach for as long as i can remember, and this past summer my other older sister Kelly worked my gym's front desk...not kidding when i said really involved.lol.) That is why i think it is really special when my dad and step dad comes and watches me perform at competition and showcases. I expect to hear only the truth from my mom after I perform and for her to tell me how she thought we did and how she'll think my team will place. and I leave it up to my dad to say great job Jill, you rocked it!! ...even if it wasnt the best performance. awwI so appreciate the amazing crazy cheer dads are always at our gym supporting us everythime they can. we have A LOT of them at AP. it's great they sit in the bleacher with all the moms and watch their girls practice.lol.so anyways... thank you so much to all the dads that support us athletes, your support means a lot!!  biggrin

And lets not forget how important it is for those Cheer Dads of male cheerleaders to show their support. I've seen some dads "reject" their boys because they want to cheer instead of play football. Please dads, show your support for your sons.

RE: CHEER "DADS"

Well lets just say that my husband 'HATES' cheerleading. Or should I say he used to! I have 2 boys who have been on all stars for 10 years now. We have to hear about it everyday, how cheer it not a sport and boys don't cheer, and so on. You know typical man - basketball, football, etc. He came to 1 comp a few years back and was not impressed at all. Well, this year we decided to find a new cheer family (which we absolutely love) and my kids love it and have excelled off the chart. We come home from practice and tell dad how amazing this club is and he would just ignore us and continue to put cheer down. He just couldn't believe all of the hype so he attended our first comp this year and when he saw our boys compete... he CRIED... "twice" and was just so proud. I never expected him to have that type of reaction. Since that day, he hasn't said a thing negative about cheer. As a matter of fact, he can't wait to go to the next event. WOW!!! Talk about change of heart. Now, he's eager to learn what every move is called. His exact words after my youngest performed was "I don't know anything about this, but I do know that that was good!!" After our oldest performed he said "Wow! He sure is good." It gave me such a great feeling to know after all these years, he FINALLY is supportive. My advice to cheerleaders who's dads aren't very supportive, just give them time. They are sure to come around.
