RE: Competitions

here are my faves

POWER just fun and pretty fair
Cheergyms spectacular all around one of my favorites
Americas best  minus the dang on posting of schedule
Athletic championship my absolute favorite just a great comp to atend for everyone
american cheer power fun fun well organized
mardi gras only went once i liked it
coa same thing one time so cant really say if i liked it or not
ctc is a real nice laid back comp to throw in for something different like their staff

dont care too much for
gssa some of same reasons already listed not looking forward to that comp at all not one bit
jamz dont like the dancing by staff too takes too much time awards are forever at big comps but the kids love these comps i have to say im hoping we dont compete there at all this season its penciled in on the schedule
UCA just not feeling them at all tried to like them something doesnt feel right
USA not too much to say it speaks for itself
sharp unprofessional

im not a fan of theme park comps at all the kids never get to ride rides and its like waving a peice of candy in their face and telling them you have to wait until after dinner so i could do with out them

Very glad to hear Jamz isn't charging anything for an updated schedule, good for them.  That's one change in the right direction.

I love Jamz Nationals, but I agree about the awards and the singing and dancing... we're all pretty tired by then and really just want to get on with it.  As for the awards themselves, I think anyone who has been going to Jamz for years knows that winning that jacket is the ultimate reward, they really make you feel pretty special.   I think the way they treat the first place teams is unique, I love it.  As for the other gyms who place in that division you get to see your coaches go on stage (not just hear your name).  As for the ones who don't place, I know this might sound cold but, better luck next time?  Gives you something to shoot for next year (to at least place).  I'm not a fan of trophies and ribbons and whatever for those at the bottom... I feel you need to earn your prize.

maybe they have improved over the years. i dont know because i havent been to a jamz competition in a while. by the wards being weird i meant they were kind od misleading and hard to follow along and i didnt necessarily get who was getting what place. hard to explain, but i bet they have improved.

No JAMZ has not changed and they are still one of my least favorite competitions to attend.  They always run so long.  I agree about everything that has been said about thier awards.  Hard to follow and drawn out.  I like to see the kids get acknowledged for coming in not only first, but second, thiird, and so on.  This is suppose to be about them, not the coaches or the JAMZ staff.  Winning a jacket is great and 1st place is awesome. It's nice that at nationals that they do something unique for the 1st place teams.  I don't have any problems with that at all.   But the least they can do is give out a trophy or at least a ribbon for the other teams.  These kids earned that recognition just as much as the first place teams.  Coming 2nd or 3rd out of 9 or 10 teams is pretty awesome and should also be rewarded.  Especially when you consider what they charge in comp fees and admission.

At Jamz teams that place in that division DO get trophies. And the coaches get to come up on stage to receive them. Sorry that wasn't clear.

im sick of people who lose blaming it on politics.  another team beat you because they were better than you on that day.  move on and get better.

who said it was a sac competition no it was san jose and if you read my anin complaint i said we are on the other end receiving the favoritism too  and im sick of people who refuse to stand up for what is right

GSSA owner is not from california but that does not make her not an affiliate of northern california etc  we pay a lot of money to compete and its only fair that it is judged fairly period

we have moved on will not attend gssa until the reputation is kosher again
its funny we have been to ther orginizations and placed well and judged fairly ummmmmmm because they require that their judges are from out of state and some have gone as far to send judge bios and you must sign to say you have no affliation with them

if you are walking pass the judges hugging and hanging out with them after the comp something is not right

oh wait i forgot gssa doesnt do this

while i get better and move on how about you get a clue get smart and realize whats true is true

moved on
now get a clue

You are just bitter because the teams that deserve to win are winning. It is not about to company running the competition. It is about the athletes that go out there and make it happen. Whether you like it our not, Cheergyms.com, POWER, American, and others bring it to the floor. If a stunt wobbles, you get points marked off. Those teams are clean, have great routines, max out each section of score sheet and are always fun to watch. I'm glad you and your team are not coming back because you just shed negativity on competitions. Its a competition, if you can't handle the pressure, step off! Grow up while you are at it too. Its just a trophy.biggrin

I'm sorry I didn't say it right.  I think the kids should be the one going up and getting the trophies not the judges.  I meant to say even if your not 1st getting a small trophy or ribbon only seems right.

I think having all the kids come up on stage when they win (1st-3rd) would make the awards ceremonies go on Forever . . . JAMZ awards went pretty quickly when only the coaches come up to get the trophies for first, second and third place.  Even the first place teams didn't go up on stage, and the awards ceremony zipped right along this time. smile

For Nationals the 1st place kids always go on stage (you must be talking about regionals).   I agree, it would take forever to get the kids on stage for anything other than 1st place.  It seems to take a while just for the coaches to get there, especially if they're in the back.

I do have my facts straight thank you. I have been in this industry for over 14 years. GSSA is one of the best competitions there is. So stop your whining and just get over the fact that you are wrong. I'm sure she has more and more teams coming to the comps each year. Believe me, you won't be missed. And no, Thank you!! biggrin

For me Jamfest is the best with the GSSA comps a close second.

Is it me or are Cheergyms.com and Power going to pretty much the same comps and the rest of the gyms are going to the others ones that they arent. I am not meaning to start any negativity, just an observation. In the long run it is better for both of those programs to be pushed.

On the otherhand, is it false security for other programs who seem to not show up at comps that they go to. Are these other gyms doing it on purpose and if so, is it a smart move ?

Actually they don't. If you don't place at a certain level, they don't even call your name. USA is the same thing.

No offense, but I think it's just you.  cheergyms has only been to two competitions (it may be three), and one of them there were A LOT of other well known gyms from this area.  I think POWER also has only been to two, although they split their teams up so it's a little harder to keep track.

And, as has been said before, most gyms have their competition schedule in place many months before a competition, so they have no idea who's going where.  I don't see how any gym could be avoiding either cheergyms or POWER.

I think it is smart to not want to compete against Power and Cheergyms.com. You can rack up the wins and not have to deal with them.  I would do it if I was a gynm owner. No questions asked and both Cheergyms and Power list the comps thye go to in April, so it would be easy to find out where they go.

Why wouldn't you want to compete against the teams that always win?  You go to a competition for "competition" right?  I just think there have been a couple of competitions on the same day or weekend.  So that's probably why!!

Honestly that statement ot to start negativity....
there are so many competitions going on, on the same weekend. It makes it hard for gyms to compete at the same comps. That is one of the disussions on thi sboard, there are way too many orginizations with so many divisons.  I dont think for one minute that people are avoiding each other at all. I am not from either of those teams but i do have a friend on a cheergym team and we didnt exchange comp schedules until late summer and we just ended up being at one comp to gether this season.
i tend to believe that most gyms want to be at a comp with as many teams as possible it makes for a fun competition and the major complaint now is that with so many comps on the same weekend and so many divisions that people have no competition.

its just the way the cards fell this year

Well I know we pick competitions based on dates, prices, venues, locations, and the competition company. Last I always want to try something new because doing the same thing year after year is very boring. All of us who grew up in California , know that our coaches took us to USA nationals and that gets VERY old. Other than that Jamz and GSSA are huge. Now both of those companies have their teams they always pick, with some divisions that will have new people. We want to try new companies and new things. I don't care if Power or CG.com go. They do whats best for them and we do whats best for us. I personally just am over Jamz, USA and GSSA. GSSA did merge with Jamfest so maybe its a little better.
