I love the idea of sitting together! We too came from a very tight gymnastics program and that is EXACTLY what I miss as well -- the "family" feeling. Not that everyone isn't nice, or friendly, but we just don't know each other that well because we don't spend time together (like practices or other parent oriented activities -- NO opportunities!!). Seating in the arenas is difficult sometimes, but if a section was selected ahead of time and we knew where to go, I think it would be easier. When it became apparent that all the cheergyms people were going to sit there, I think others might move (not that we wouldn't welcome anyone who wanted to be there, understand...) But I wouldn't sit in the middle of the Power section, would you? SO what section are we going to sit in next competition?? I will be there! with my flag and my tshirt -- oops, do I have a tshirt for this year yet? nope. Well, LAST year's tshirt! ;)
Just think of the "home team" advantage that is felt at most sporting events. Why do you think that is?? Because the fans get the ball rolling so to say. When you are pumped and excited, you have more energy. Its just a fact. Yes it is intimidating but that is only because you want to be a part of something so incredible and great feeling. So those "annoying" feelings sometimes felt when it's not your team is only of wishing that it was your team doing all the chanting and yelling. Also, when there is alot of cheering going on, isn't it natural to take notice as to whom is taking the floor? Of course it is and this also spills over to the judges. They are human too! And lets not forget what cheerleading is all about from the beginning of time. It is meant to get the crowd cheering for the team that is playing on the field. The cheering is SUPPOSED to happen ladies and gentlemen.... it's what we are supposed to be doing. Good luck in your endevor. I am not a part of Cheergyms.com but I think it's a terrific idea and will be looking to see if you all band together and acomplish this GREAT idea!!!
