I don't think it matters if she didn't apply it correctly. By the end of the day it's everywhere. In her hair, in my hair, on her clothes, on my clothes, In the car, etc..... It's just plain everywhere.
Make up does NOT make or break a sport!!!!.... If you are good at your sport it will be recognized and taken for what it is..period...
Perception of rah rah is from those that have NOT seen competitive cheer because once they see it they are looking at the tunbling, stunts, jumps etc.
Stage presence is huge.... and if coaches want to add glitter so be it. Make up, hair or lack of will not replace talent..
Watching perfomances, it does look much better to me to see the color and eyes... that make-up brings..... glitter... not my personal choice... but hey I'm just a mom!!
I don't mind the glitter on eyes -- BUT I HATE the red glitter on the lips -- I think that is just too much and too fake... (and thats coming from a dance mom too)....

I agree and it makes the young girls look like street walkers (if that is not too harsh to say) it doesnt add anything...........
besides have you seen what it looks like on ur uniform aftr you compete and then u go to awards with red lipstick all over ur uniform uuuuuuuuuuuuugh
i hate wearing it!!!! but it goes perfect with our green bows and the glitter in our uniform so it's worth it i guess. it's definetley gonna stink when i gotta where AP green glitter for my senior team then scrub it all off and put on smokey greys and blacks eyeshadow for AA coed when we compete on the same day. oh well!
I don't mind the glitter make-up, but I like more traditional make-up better. I think the girls should wear lipstick though. It makes their smiles and facials more noticeable.
Glitter makeup do you think it adds to your scores for appearance. Do you love it or hate it.
I don't know about adding to the scores (any judges out there?), but personally, I wish we could do away with the over-the-top makeup. I think that what it does is make it look less like a sport and more like a dance performance (where make-up puts you in character). If we want cheer to become more accepted as a sport, I think a practical clean-faced, ponytailed, sporty-look (think gymnastics, basketball, or tennis) is more appropriate.
I am so over cheerleading being a sport. WHO CARES!!! Cheer will be the same thing, no matter what you label it. Actually teams didn't start wearing glitter until just about 5-7 years ago. They wore the spray glitter, but that was about it. To me its about looking your best and wanting to set an impression. Not just about stunts and tumbling. If thats all you want, then go to open gym. What is wrong with adding a little "kick" to your appearance. Ask yourself why people dress up when they go out, or why girls wear make up at all. Its to enhance your appearance. If it got in your eye, then your doing it wrong. That is great that some big gyms don't , but many do. Its about individual style and attitude. Why must we all look alike "other" gyms. If a team wants to use glitter make up, then let them. If another team wants to look plain, then let them.
Well the reason most people don't think cheerleading is a sport because u cant stop ur opponents from beating you (no defense/offense) which is why i would consider cheerleading a performance sport, the only way to beat your opponents is to perform better than them. What goes into a good performance? well high skilled stunts, tumbling, n so on but also synchronization. N thats the difference, a soccer player could care less about what they look like to play a game because it doesn't matter but in cheer it does. We wear intricate uniforms because it makes everyones body's look more alike (ever notice how dances look waaaaay sharper when everyone is in uniform than at practice?) and the hair, make-up, and bows add to the uniform look. u want everyones faces to stand out for the facials are noticable and that adds energy to the routine. it makes complete sense to me for cheerleaders to pull all there hair back with big matching bows are wear bright matching glitter and lipstick because it stands out and makes everyone look uniform from the judges view
and ya upclose its ugly..... but who cares its performing! Like someone else mentioned if you wanna "look" like an athlete go get some cleats, a helmet, and rub some of that black stuff under your eyes...... that'd make a cute cheerleader.... NOT!!!
I don't mind a little sparkle in the eye shadow but what I really dislike is the full on glitter that is glued on the eyes. I just think it looks cheesy!!! JMO
First off i don't mind the glitter because I agree with what others have said. it's about a unifomr look and facials are imortant.
Cheerleadering is not accepted as a sport because there are no standardized set of rules. How we are scored is so subjective. Until there are standized rules it will remain the way it is.
I can't stand glitter! Especially when it's caked so much on the eye lid, they practically close. Now I do like Make up, you can do beautiful make up and have a great affect. Just say NO to glitter!
I personally love the glamour that comes along with cheerleading. It's kind of like how an actor puts on makup to be on stage. Same feeling... girls like to look pretty when they perform. Not ALL of course... but everyone wants to look good when everyone's looking at them. :) Right?
I love glitter, I love makup, I love lipstick, I love blush, I love it all.... It's fun, and who doesn't want to have fun?
