Is that what we are about NorCal ?

After reading through all of the post that have gone on for the last few days, I cam to the following conclusion. I am embarrassed to be a part the the NorCal cheer world. As soon as these boards opened the ugliesness came back and I am ashamed. FYI people- we look stupid. Arguing about this and that. I am not sure if it is worth it for us as a cheer communtiy to have these boards open. We have proven that we cannot be positive and not be consturctive either.

The rest of the California Cheer world looks at this board and thinks, " what a bunch of cry babies. Is that the rep we want ?

Trust me, it is not just NOR CAL it's everywhere.  If you go on to PRO X, it appears most of those teams are from other areas outside of California, and they have the same drama, if not worse!  It is pretty petty though - let the kids have fun, and as parents encourage them to support other teams.  I know, that's not reality, but I guess I can feel better that I tell my child to do that!smile

If you feel so strongly about this, why post anonymous?

That just proves the point. I posted in announymously because I can. I can say what ever I want because the board it set up that way. Also, I have friends on SoCal and they laugh at the craziness that comes from the post on this board, so it does not happen down south. Please point me in the direction where all of the SoCal people go crazy and fight about NOTHING and make their programs look foolish

I'm from SO CAL, it has happened.  Our gym is not even suppose to be on these message boards.  And I know of a few others from SO CAL that are not suppose to write on these either.

Hey I have friends at a prominet so cal cheer gym and they have the same problems as well why their kid is not in the front, who is the coaches favorite, kids not fitting into their program and whose coach left what gym to start another gym etc it is every where it is human nature to jealous and petty sometimes it doesnt make it rught but just because you cheer down south does not exempt you from drama PLEEEEEASE come on now so you want us to believe that if you cheer down south it all the humanrace is different
they have their fair share of issues as well the whole country does heck the whole world does
so we discuss it on the boards and it gets ugly and people get petty
let me say it again
that is what makes ameriaca so great the freedom to choose if you want to represent nor cal in a positive way keep posting positive things the so cal people have to be reading that too
there are positive people on the boards as well
and maybe norcal is more prevalnt to airing the dirty laundry but you cant vlean it if you dont know its not dirty
just be nice about itbiggrin

I love the fact that as a coach i can read all types of input...Good or bad. Several comments are some that parents can't or won't say to coaches and we know why.  It is a great way to look at the cheer world as a whole and learn (hopfully).  Most coaches coach for the passion of the sport.  If you are not happy where your at, don't stay and keep complaining dredging up gossip.  Find the gym that fits your needs and wants (that gym is out there).  Also don't think becuase you were a hs cheerleader back in your day that you "still" konw everything about cheer.  The education of what cheer is today is a ton of work and homework.  Parents are not at practices to see what and how kids do. Your daughter may not have what it takes to do certain elements and that is part of being a great parent and encourage kids to be great at what they do at there level.  Our young kids today are sometimes pushed beyond there means and then they are on burn out and go down some bad paths.  Not all kids that drop our of cheer go down a bad path.....but we hope that what they learn carries them through life.  Remember there is always something out there for kids to do (cheer is not the end of the world) we as adults need to teach and caoch kids to the best of "there" ability not the parents and teach the morals and integrity of the world today.....smile

Very well said. This is why I love reading this board.  I love your comment "It is a great way to look at the cheer world as a whole and learn".   If you read though the posts on this board it realy is a small minority that create the negativity.  I choose to ignore posts like these.  I guess like a bad cold I wait patiently for them to go away.  So keeping those interesting and educational posts coming and I'll keep reading them.  As far as being proud to be part of the Nor Cal cheer world you bet I am. biggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrin

That was a good post whatever coach it was. i agree with it completely. and I'm from both Nor Cal and So Cal and believe me the drama is all over the place. so dont be ashamed of it. its just posted on here because this is a nor cal board it really is with the exception that OC mom posts like a mad woman and Kiara is one of the most famous cheerleaders at least on the west coast. it probably would be talked about more but this isn't too popular for So Cal families.

about cheer parents... god do i love listening to the crap that comes outta your guy's mouth in the viewing room watching your kids practice. honestly if you are a cheer parent, 99% of the time you seriously have NO IDEA what you are talking about. and if you are questioning if you're in that 1% you definately are not. honestly, i dont care how dumb you think the coaches or owners might be. let your coaches coach. dont get in the way of it. from an athletes point of view talking to coaches about their coaching is embarrassing its like your parents bringing up the sex subject in front of ALL your friends.

so lets take a step back and look at the big picture. there is no professional cheerleading organization, none of us are going to sign 3 million dollar contracts with the dallas cowboy cheerleaders. your kids career isnt going to change whether their toe touch is front in center. so just support your kid whether they have a double full or a forward roll. because to be honest my mother doesnt know the difference between the two, she just screams cuz everyone else is and her kid is on the floor.

so now i'm done being completely random lol. but really i dont mean to be THAT mean it just kills me to see parents getting overly involved to the point where it gets in the way of their child enjoying what they do. because that is really what its all about. just support your kid whatever they do.

Just because other regions behave that way doesn't mean we all have a free ticket to stoop to that level of behavior. Wouldn't it be nice if others pointed to all of us and used us as their example of good sportsmanship and healthy friendly competition? What a great concept.

The fact that everywhere has these problems is true, the difference is that we have an avenue for our dirty laundry to air. Is that so great ? I would say , no. We look like a bunch of rude, judgemental people. Some of the posts on these boards are unbelievable. You could still have this forum if people were required to sign in. It is just one more step that maybe people that would be so negative would not take. Just this weeke so far people have : Bashed on Cheer Divas, put down Co rockets saying they were not a 5, complained about coaches and this was only after one comp. It just seems like the boards bring out the Worst in everyone and is makes all of us look bad.

That's why we need to not even respond to these type of posts!!  The ones with the negativity feed off of our responses.  All teams keep your heads up high and dont let anyone get you down!  It's doesn't matter if one team is not at the level anyone else thinks they should be at.  It doesn't matter if no one likes your uniform.  It really doesn't matter!!  All that matters is that you're having fun!

HEY WAIT A MINUTE..... did Alex say I was a mad woman????

hehehehehe

SoCal has NO DRAMA.

None. Nada. Zip.

Everyone gets along. No one argues. We don't have road rage or crime. We all have white picket fences and give our neighbors homemade treats on a weekly basis. Our cars never get dirty and our kids all sit quietly in class and get straight A's. Everyone says please, thank you and you're welcome. We are the people in Pleasantville.

And I am 110 lbs and eat my veggies every day.

If you take away the anonymous posting you won't have all the interesting (yes, interesting) topics we have had lately.  I think it has been great.  If someone came on here and talked about what they didn't like about our gym or our routines, honestly I would welcome the criticism.  If someone told us we should be at a different level, again I would welcome the criticism.  Doesn't mean anything is going to change, but it's nice to see how you are viewed by others, good OR bad.  I just loved the way the CO coach explained why they cheer at level 5 when they know they could dominate at 4.   You would not get that anywhere else.  On the other hand I completely understand those who feel they need to be in a lower level.  It's great to see both sides of this issue, and so many others.

If you're so disappointed in the Nor Cal cheerworld because of remarks on this board it's time to read something else.

It would be great to see CO CoEd 4 up against Motions Coed 4.  I just think it would be a great match up.

I dont believe it is a so vs no cal with the drama I think we have a few people that live off of drama and they live in nor cal.  They come here and put others down because they have their own issues.  Those people are also in gyms or teams doing poorly trying to bring down others.  So just ignore the rude comments and move past it knowing that it is not all no cal just a few weirdos.

And I think it's sad that rude and hateful comments are considered "interesting" and "great".  There is a vast difference between constructive critcism and some of the flat-out meanness that takes place around here.

Anyone who knows me knows that if you want to know what I think, I have NO problem telling you to your face.  It's the spineless, mean-spirited anonymous posts that drive me up a wall.  Sure, the rumor mill churns in cheer, just like it does everywhere else in life.  And I could tell you some things I've heard/seen about other coaches and program owners that would turn your stomach.  But there is absolutely no reason for someone to be able to say horrible things and not be held accountable for them.  I don't understand how that can even be fun.
