choreography pet peeves!

Ok so there were some things that were"interesting" that I saw while at power this weekend.

-pike jumps to the back
-frog tumblers in the front
-boys doing front stretches in the front
-doing hard tumbling skills then showcasing a lower skill
-doing the same elite section twice in a routine
-nikes with leg at 90 degrees
-put a toe touch in the middle of the back
-cartwheel roll offs from the center for a senior 2 team

what are yours?

I saw it on TV, mostly college teams I think, but running in place, I just don't get it.

Ooh I know I saw alot of that when they aired UCA high school nationals. Maybe it's just their style? But it does look weird sometimes.

Yeah the running in place thing is an older style...that was the way we did transitions back then. You would be suprised at the amount of time spent practicing that run so that everyones hands and legs were in insync and in the same positions.

I bet a lot of people will disagree with me...but my biggest pet peev is more than one tumbling sequence. I like a medium lengthed tumbling sequence that shows off all the skills...but I really don't understand the point of showcasing the exact same skills again in a slightly different way or formation. I'm not against having tumbling throughout the routine and in combination with stunts but I don't like seeing a tumbling sequence, a stunt sequence and then a tumbling sequence again.I would much rather see that precious time in a routine go into a different stunt sequence or pyramid so that it actually showcases something new. Whenver I see this in a routine I get bored, I just saw all the tumbling they have...whats the point of seeing it again?

I think that the boy front stretch was amazing. It added entertainment to the routine. How many other boys do you know that can do that?
