It is done all the time in every other sport.
Is it okay to try to do so in cheer.
Seems that some on the board have an issue with it, what's your take?

I don't have a problem with it.

I feel that as long as cheerleading wants to be recognized as a sport (and you know how frustrating that subject can be) it should be treated as a sport. And predicting winners happens everyday in ALL types of sports...and in ALL levels of sports.

I love to predict winners. I do it all the time at comps. It's a little early in the seaon to be doing it now though. We can only go by past years reputations about gyms, coaches and athletes. But as we have seen in the past, those factors can change pretty fast!

I think its fun later on in the season. It does seem sort of pointless this early in the season, when no one has really seen any of the teams.

Good point Diva coach this early in the game it is almost impossible to predict when we predict this early it is usually just for fun and pointless.

Agree.   This early in the season before anyone has seen anyone, replace "predicting winners" with the words "choose your favorites" because that's what it is, nothing more than a popularity contest.  I always root for the gyms that don't get mentioned much and I hope they surprise everyone this weekend!

We do it for pro basketball, baseball, football...so there's no harm in it.

Personally, I like to read other people's opinions of other gyms; including the gym I work at. As long as it's constructive and honest and not negative in the "OMG I totally don't like their gym just because" sense, I'm all for it.

Just to cover all three threads, I want to post my opinion here too.  In my opinion picking winners is fine, picking who will come in dead last is not fine and is definitely not "in fun".

While I'm not a big fan of predicting winners I agree it's just opinions and don't mean any harm.  I also agree that predicting who will come in last is not fun anymore.   I'm sure it was not meant to be mean spirited but you can see how it ended up that way.  If we had a thread that was about predicting who will come in last it would be deleted.  Just another way to look at it.

Good luck to all the amazing teams performing this weekend.  I'm so excited the season has finally started.

I like to pick the winners ahead of time because 99.9% of the time I get it right. If only I could pick out the winning slot machines in vegas. Hmmm
