RE: Best small gym programs

wouldn't they stilll be small if they have only 80 kids?  what is small?

I think a small gym is less than 75 kids. I shouldn't matter how many teams. Some people have a tiny team of 4 or 5 and another team of only 15 kids. But just my opinion.

I thought at some national competitions they do separate the categories into large or small gyms, and I thought under 90 would be considered small.  For me any gym that has over 100 members is a large gym. All the others are considered small.   There is a definite advantage to having over 100 (or even over 90) members in that you can group them by skills, which gives you a better chance at having a team that is strong because each member has what is required for that level.  Smaller gyms have to mix and match various levels more often.  This is not to say they can't be just as competitive, I just mean there is an advantage to having more to choose from.

Really? I guess I never really thought of that. How many kids does POWER modesto have? On their website they have 9 teams listed between both locations. Does anyone know how that is split? Are they still combining kids to make their level 5 teams like they did last year? And if so (like at the big competitions that divide small gym and big gym levels) do they go under small gym or large? Because clearly if they combine both gyms they should be consitered large.confused

Okay so I called my friend and she told me this year numbers are down. Last year they had 12 teams and she is pretty sure they have 8 this year but some of them are combo teams. She said one gym has 2 teams the other has 3 teams and then the remaining 3 teams levels 4 and 5 are combined from both gyms. On there web it lists the teams. She wasn't sure on how many were large and small she said about half and half.

Power is roughly the same size as it was last year. We have less teams, but overall the teams are larger. We have three combined teams-- Large Senior 4, Small Senior5 and Large Senior 5. Looking forward to seeing everyone at Jamfest !!!
