i am totally confused now. the latest post contradicts other recent posts about the merger only happening to form a level 5 team. It sounded like they were saying that the only coaching influence going on was on the AA team. now it sounds like the AA team was not the focus of the merger.???

In the posts the parents and kids wrote, it seemed as if AA was the main focus of the merger while the staff always put out there that AA was just another benefit and that there were other and more important reasons for the merger.  No, I haven't been told what each and every reason is, but I also don't think it's my business.

The most recent CheerBiz magazine explaining the merge of the programs.  Take a look it might explain some things.

I just perused the entire magazine and I saw nothing on mergers, but I do hate reading magazines/books/newspapers on-line.  I just can't focus on it the same, so maybe I missed it.  What page?

you guys are blowing the whole level 5 thing out of proportion. because a girl has a standing tuck does that make her level 5? maybe 3 or 4 years ago it did but its not acceptable now. yes there are girls and boys with only tucks on a level 5 team but that doesnt mean they shouldnt be on a level 4 team because thats the level of tumbling they r throwing. its a level 4 skill.

so you have to raise the question how many of them are throwing combo passes to fulls and how many to doubles. how many are twisting with standing tumbling? those are true level 5 skills and i know some of those girls can do that but i doubt ALL of them do it.

and on another note, there are SO many girls doing fulls and even learning doubles on level 4 teams because they aren't consistent enough to be on a level 5 team. so you guys are blowing this WAY out of proportion. and this isnt from an all star from cheergyms.com

so i guess just step your game up lol

I might have missed something in the comments. But I don't think anyone was saying a standing tuck makes you a level 5 cheerleader, it doesn't! It's a level 4 skill.

Yeah, I've said plenty on this subject, not much else to add.  I think someone said it best when they said the teams know what they are capable of, and maybe that's all that matters.  If you have a level 4 team whose majority of members are consistent enough to also be on a level 5 team, they know what their abilities are, and soon once competitions start they'll see the level 5 teams they would have gone against and will know whether they would have been true contenders.  If the goal is to simply choose a level where you hit your stunts and tumbling every single time (which is sort of what Marlin said?) then most level 5 teams should be 4, 4 should be 3, you get the idea.  No one pushes themselves to a higher level, and we all cheer in our comfort zones.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the level 5 teams this year, I admire them for pushing themselves and for not taking the easier route.  I don't mean for that to sound rude or offensive, I'm just stating how I feel.

Good luck to everyone.  We'll be at Jamz Stockton.  We wanted to go to Power's competition as well but it looks like they are on the same date.  I think in general we have a lot of respect for one another and it's exciting that we get to see everyone's routines soon!

We all wanted to know, but she'll never budge ... She keeps us wondering. This is from her white board. Kind of how you are classified as "Anonymous" haha

"You know I would like to be more revealing, but the truth is we're really not supposed to post on message boards. So I post anyway but I keep my gym out of it, since my views may not reflect theirs, you know? Sorry to be so secretive about it. I have friends and nieces/nephews on various teams from various gyms, so we're always going to lots of competitions, even if my daughter isn't competing that day. Keeps us busy! Good luck to you this season. Abby "

I'm guessing a parent!

Sorry to be such a mystery, lol.  Yes, I'm a parent and an aunt.  smile.gif   I'm definitely not a coach.  I wish I had the qualities it takes to be one, I have so much respect for them!

I am very excited to see the POWER level 5 teams. They are so amazing and I have always been impressed with their cleanliness and the way they make those difficult stunts and pyramids look rock solid!

Good luck this season to all the gyms!

I am also looking forward to seeing Power's level 5 teams and all the other level 5 teams out there.  I always make a point to make sure I'm right there in the stands for it because level 5 is as high as our sport goes and is always fun to watch.  I'm sorry we'll miss seeing cheergyms level 5 team, I don't think the All American team will be competing at the usual regionals, but maybe I'm wrong.  Oh well.

I agree.. I am on ROyals senior co-ed level four team, last yr we were level three and our coaches pushed us really hard at practices. our team really took a step up as a TEAM, not just individuals, what i liked was our coaches left it up to us which level we wanted to go.. no we dont have full squad back tucks but we dont want to go level three when we can push ourselves at level four..just my opinion. it helps us get better..now back to my point..and my response to this posting ; ) I am excited to see all of cheergyms teams.. I thnk his name is Morten.. is always very nice to us and cheers us on, I love cheergyms! and we are excited to see them and compete, because with them it is always friendly no matter what! GO CHEERGYMS!!
I also look forward to seeing starstrucks LEVEL 4 THey are awesome.. Cheer odyssey always has amazing performances..of course POWER! and I look forward to SOME dance performances. good luck to all and much luv!biggrin
