I am tired of All Star teams doing competition at High School Gyms! We pay so much money for our kids to move up from youth football cheer to a All Star level team and to find out that your gym is sending you to watch in a very crowded and hot High School Gym is not cool! I think it makes me more mad that we have to kick off the first competition this way. NOT COOL AT ALL!
i agree that at high schools the gyms are crowded and hot however i disagree about eberything else. I think starting competition season at a high school is a great way to start season because they are usually small and give teams a chance to show their routines in front of a crowd. It gives them the chance to fix things in their routines before a bigger competition and and i think they can be quite beneficial. Also, these competitions arent usually expensive at all. JMO
I remember when Jamz regionals were held in a hot gym at Cal State, with no food to buy. A long day in a hot crowded place with no food or water available for purchase, and you had to pay Jamz admission prices to get in, which might have been lower than the outrageous $15 they charge now, but probably not by much. I'm so glad they moved.
So I agree with that part; I also don't care for competitions in gyms. But I also agree with the person that said that a low key inexpensive and small competition is a good way to perform in front of a crowd early in the season. I guess it's too bad it has to be in a gym (can't have it both ways I guess)! Usually those competitions have high school teams perform beforehand and many stay to watch all stars, so I think it's a good way for high school gyms to see what all stars is all about, if they've never been exposed to it.
Trust me honey as a parent of an all star cheerleader we hate coming to these competitions especially when the team goes and loses and as you know we are paying two to three times the amount of money a high school team pays. Thank you for this topic, you make a great point.
Well USA and UCA are companies that really cater to school/youth programs who run cheaper programs, because those teams have smaller budgets. Thats what you get if you choose to compete with them. I really doubt Athletic Championships, Jamfest, or Americas Best will have competitions at high school gyms.

Cheap is the word. We wen to 2 of their comps last year in Nor Cal and it was CHEAP and unorganized. Registration is always a mess, warm ups are horrible, and awards are these tiny trophies. You only get banners if you compete against 2 other teams (like you can control registration) and it just was an ok event. It makes you wonder why they even host competitions at all. I am not sure if I would rather go cheap and compete more or compete less with better quality. All I know companies like Jamfest, Jamz, and American Championships put more into their events.
I would have to say American Championships is one of my favorites. Huge trophies, sweatshirts for 1st place, hospitality room for coaches, 6ft grand national trophies, banners, and etc. I feel you get a lot for your buck!
