I have heard Odyssey has a senior and junior hip hop team, Airborne (don't know what division) and I also heard Nor Cal may have one? Anyone know if this is true.

Airborne is Senior Hip Hop.  We have about 7/8 girls....which I feel is a good start!  Cant wait for the first comp!

Thats Great news! SCF (South Coast) only has a Youth and Junior Hip Hip this year (not sure if we will have a Senior team or not). This is only our 2nd year doing hip hop with our dance program. Now if we can only get more dance teams out here on the West Coast.

Sorry but I really dislike having to sit through the dance teams. It's just not my thing.

I agree. I was going to stick around & watch some dance teams last year but I had some tin foil I needed to go chew.

That made me laugh out loud at my desk!

I do like some of the dance routines.  When Tamara and I are watching comps together we watch EVERYTHING start to finish! (We are sad, sick creatures, but at least we know it!)
The dance routines I don't like are the ones that I call "wiggle and jiggle".  A little bit is tolerable, but when it takes over the entire dance I have to woder about who is choreographing these things!

Okay guys, I live for cheerleading but I dont think its okay for us to go and make rude comments about dancing. Sure, there are always teams that should really gice up dance!!! But a lot of gyms have both cheer and dance teams. At all of the competitions I have attended it has always been nice to have a break from the same syncronized cheer moves, after a long day it all becomes one big blur anyway! Now I am not a dance type of person, but I dont think you anonymous people have a right to be rude!

Hey Bryan -- Were with the open team at NDA last year? If so, my daughter was on the Indian team (SCF) that you guys "protected" from the American Girls (Arizon Angels team) right before you went on. My daughter still talks about that -- how you all circled around them and pumped them up before they went on....

PS -- "boring dance" -- okay yes, there are many times when all you see is a lot of "shaky shaky" with not a lot behind it.  But -- my daughter has done both -- and actually prefers the dance end (believe it or not she finds it more challenging).  She was a flier on a novice and then advanced (level 2 and 5) teams for 2 years before she switched over.  I think choregoraphy and the music has A LOT to do with a persons vision of what dance should be.  I have seen some fantastic routines and I have seen some pretty sad routines.  I think you can same the same for cheer.....  (true).

Since Bryan hasn't been on since you've asked the question, and I don't want to leave you hangin'...no, he wasn't on that team last year.  He was on the other side of the country.

That was really nice to hear your story though.  I like hearing positive things about these competitive realms.

Thanks for letting me know -- Too bad -- but when he does read this, he can at least let his teammate know that the SCF Indians still talk about it! :)

Bryan,

Will the dance team you are on go for a bid to the Dance Worlds? I'm not as familiar with the dance world so I don't know what categories they have or the rules.
