Perhaps a pm would be best in this case kris. I think advertising on the cheergyms.com message board for a different gym's team may not be the best way to go. If I get a little bit of heat for saying so then so be it.

Yea, I wonder how that would work.... There are other open teams available in Orange County, but not many. Maybe Cheergyms could put together one?? Maybe in their new Cheergyms gym in So Cal??? Danny and Morton are cringing right now.... I won't let that one go.

Cheergyms has an open team and they were sooo much fun to watch last year! All of the CG coaches were on the team and the kids LOVED watching their coaches and former allstars compete. I am sure they will have one again this year for all of you norcal cheer alumni! It usually starts around August or September.
AMAC: I think that you should go where ever your heart is sending you. Reguardless of a "gym A or B" As a parent, I would support my daughters coach (s) where ever they decided to cheer. There are some amazing cheer gyms around here. (So.Cal) Here are a few suggestions::
~Pacific Coast Cheer is having an adult team (so I have heard). They have a strong program, and their teams were bomb last season ~California All Stars has been around forever, and have a strong program as well, and are amazing. ~Fierce is also having an adult team this year. They are amazing, and much fun to watch. ~Also Magic/So. Cal Elite, and Nor Cal are all joining forces to have one great big team as well. Again, another group of gyms who have left their mark in the cheerleading world.
I hop this helps, and good luck on your little adventure =o)

When did the Magic/So Cal Elite/Nor Cal Elite thing happen? Open teams seem to be so inconsistent and some people want to have them for fun, others want the serious competition. It's hard to find one that is mixed with both from what I have heard.
Here is a question. What do you do if you have your child at gym A, but the open team at gym A requires a certain skill to be on that open team and u can't can't do that skill. For being as old as you are, you can still keep up with the kids on the open teams. What do you do? Where do you go? Do all gyms with an open team require a certain skill to make their open team?
Depends on whatever requirements that Gym and team require because they want to enter in a certain level of skill. This happens at all levels and all Gyms especially the stronger Gyms. Its probably real tough at the open level though because theres not alot to choose from
Thats a difficult decision. Its especially tough to have requirements for open teams (unless your on the east coast it seems). I especially feel towards those that cant tumble, because you could be a heck of a base or flyer or something ... and because team A requires standing tucks, its hard to have those skills. And team A will just say don't even come if you dont have that skill. Even for older parents, or Older Kids, cheerleading "back in the day" didn't require tumbling. It was exra special when someone had even a backhandspring! IDK, good luck with whatever you choose!
I guess it depends on the goals of the gym that has the Open Team.
It seemed like in years past, Open Teams were happy to take on most ex-cheerleaders that had some tumbling or stunting. And with the old rules, it was the only option after graduating from high school if you weren't cheering in college. Teams were more about having fun, trying to stay in shape, along with school, and working.
However, since World's now offers the International division it seems like alot of gyms are starting to require certain skills to make their team competitive.
