Anyone following the NCA College Nationals? http://www.varsity.com/index.asp?article=2804 I only saw one California team listed. Long Beach State, and they didn't even make it out of prelims.
I guess California is behind the times in really good college teams. Why do you think this is so??? I think other colleges must offer good cheer scholarships, and California schools just don't offer much?
The truth is, there's no where to go in California anymore. OCC, I would say, has the strongest team of the California schools, and they're a JC. Sac State used to be good, but have kind of fallen apart. Palomar used to be one of the best Coed teams in the country (as a Junior College) and their program is GONE. San Diego State has a very talented, growing All-Girl program, but no scholarships, and they compete UCA. And like you said, Long Beach didn't make it out of prelims. Most Cali kids have to go out of state to get scholarships and to cheer for Nationally ranked teams.
On a positive note though, my friend Tony, who is a California original (worked with Clovis Elite, Pacific Coast, and Palomar) WON partner stunts for Morehead (Kentucky) this weekend in Daytona!! Its not a Cali school, but he's a California kid!!!
OC Mom, Mom of 5 great kids! A cheerleader/softball player, a RETIRED cheerleader, a football/baseball player, 1 Airman and future Police Officer and one college student!

Agreed!! Not enough colleges are competitive in california or even have decent programs.
So lets take the next couple of years and push our athletes to go to SAC STATE and other local schools....i have talent that wants to cheer in college but wants to be near there family....let take it back to SAC!!!!
We were in that situation 2 years ago. College cheer has changed. You can't do doubles anymore and there have been alot more publisized stunting injuries. They still use a regular cheer floor no spring floor. When you come from all stars and go to college it's a big transition. It seems West coast schools don't offer the scholarships that mid west an east schools offer. Don't know why that is though. My kid decided not to cheer in college and stayed in allstars.
