DANNY do not make an alternative t shirt. the shirt is OFF THE HOOK!! i actually saw the other design but this one is sick. it will blow all the other shirts away. every other worlds shirt will look the same: blank all stars going to worlds... this is shirt is so creative keep the idea.
it being a gang symbol is dumb. the shirt is meant to be for worlds. i am sorry what gangster that pissed off about gang signs goes to disneyworld?? let alone a cheerleading competition?? i mean come on. if you have a problem wearing your shirt in the middle of the ghetto than throw it in the drawer with the rest of your cheer shirts after worlds. but that is such a unique design i say keep it. there wont be a problem with it at all. it really will blow other shirts away especially with as many teams wearing it.
i am suprised how many parents are upset about that shirt. are you serious?? i think you guys just missed the part that it was actually a really good looking design. danny, john, and i think fierce coach meg?? keep the shirt design...

Alex, you obviously live in a safe environment. You are very ignorant to what the shirt could actually mean to other people. I am sorry. Gang signs and all may seem "cool" to you, but in the real world, it means trouble.
Danny, it's like Nikki said yesterday before practice
"Danny have you every made a shirt with this many people standing around your desk? THAT'S HOW SICK THIS SHIRT IS!!"
so I vote keep it. =).
So when you and a teammate are at the mall wearing those shirts, and your teammate gets shot, are you still going to say that shirt is SICK? Think reality. I don't want to argue or fight about it. I just don't think you guys understand.
It not a matter of how cool the shirt looks or how long it took to make it. I actually think the artwork is pretty good. It is a matter of what the shirt represents.
The words on the T-Shirt Diego to the Bay are from 2Pacs song California Love Which was written during the rivalry between Bad Boy and Death row records to show support for West Coast-
I do not think it wise to Wear a shirt to the East Coast throwing the West Coast sign and quoting 2Pacs California Love
Here is some history on the Hip-Hop Rivalry:
Bad BoyvsDeath Rowor East Coast vs West Coast
Main article: East Coast-West Coast hip hop rivalry The quick success of The Notorious B.I.G., and Bad Boy as a company, did not set well with allmost notably the Los Angeles-based Death Row Records. For two years leading up to 1995, Death Row (and the west coast hip hop scene that it led) had largely dominated the commercial rap scene. With Bad Boy, and east coast hip hop, now garnering the notoriety that it was, resentment loomed as the attention and acclaim now had to be shared. Suge Knight, CEO of Death Row Records, especially didnt take too kindly to the emergence of Bad Boy, and publicly jeered Combs. Tensions were heightened when west coast rap superstar 2Pac signed with Death Row, after having recently forged an indignant rivalry with Wallace (B.I.G). More fuel was added to the fire when some music fans began taking sides between Wallace and Shakur, Bad Boy and Death Row, as well as East coast-vs.-West Coast. While Combs made a handful of attempts to denounce the coastal/label feud, and didnt allow any of Bad Boys artists to publicly lash back at the slights coming from the other side, most of it fell on deaf ears as tensions reached a boiling point in 1996. Later in the year, 2Pac was shot and killed. Though Bad Boy issued a public statement of condolence, the bad blood continued. On March 9, 1997, as the label readied for the release of Biggies sophomore double album, Life After Death, he too was shot and killed. The deaths of Biggie and 2Pac left many to speculate if the coastal hostility had been responsible their demises. The police investigations of both cases, meanwhile, remain unsolved
The west coast vs east coast rival is VERY old news...We are representing CALIFORNIA and are going to show our PRIDE!! We are wearing the t-shirts to a CHEERLEADING competition..not a mall to go throw it up! So does hat mean we shouldn't have red or blue shirts because it represents certain gang colors?...or even on uniforms because someone might get shot?! PUH-LEASE!!!! Who in their right mind is going to shoot up some 200 CHEERLEADERS......because of a symbol on their shirt?!?! Whether anyone wears them outside of cheer is their business, but I am going to be sporting that shirt in Orlando, Florida.... PROUDLY repin' CALI!!
I vote YES!
P.S. did anyone get to see any of the other designs?!?! Im thinking, NO...if you can come up with another shirt as SICK as the "Diego to the Bay", post it, and I am sure we will have a fair vote!
This is ridiculous! We will not wear the shirt out side of cheer anyways. Whe're not goin to go walking in oakland with the shirts on! Strictly for cheer purposes, is that truely that hard to understand?
You guys are obviously very sheltered from the streets. I rest my case. Teenagers are going to think what they want; we cannot change that!
I just know that I would not want to be seen, or want anyone I care about, wearing a shirt that represents such violence.
Red and blue cheerleading uniforms have nothing to do with gangs. I'm just saying that anyone wearing this shirt outside of a cheer competition should think twice.
No one can guarantee where the shirt will be worn. Having been around law enforcement for 21+ years, I'm not fond of glorifying anything gangster related.
That being said, I found the lettering difficult to read, even with my glasses on!! Maybe it's just my old eyes. I do appreciate all the work that has gone into designing it though!!
First of all...not a teenager or even close to being SHELTERED!Where exactly are you from that this would cause chaos?A cheer shirt is different, you can barely notice what the symbol is, and yes people may think twice when they see it, but they will look and see it means no harm...it has nothing offensive, no kind of slurs...its all for FUN! and some are turning this into a court case! If it is that serious..DONT LET YOUR KID WEAR IT, but I am sure the last decision is up to the gym owners and staff, and if they decide they want the shirt we will all have to support that. I cant wait for Florida!
John and Danny, I for one appreciate all the hard work you have put into this and hope that all this drama does not deter you from making this shirt. Come on people - our kids are going to Worldz - lets go as a united front and show the east coast that we mean business.
I agree. But they have already posted that they will be changing the design - so enough drama. We are going to WORLDZ!!!!!!!!!! Can you tell I am excited?
How about this..... if you live in a world where you know more about gangs than the rest of us, as some do, then don't buy the shirt. Apparently you shouldn't wear blue, red, purple or green cause it means something and the way you wear your hair and hold your hands means something else. JUST DONT WEAR IT...... plain and simple.
If you live in a world where you are wearing it to a cheer event only, then buy it and wear it. You may get it in blue, red, purple and green. And all at once if you're not afraid of someone thinking you may be wearing the rainbow and thinking something "else" about you.
I am NOT NOT NOT NOT in any way saying that I disagree with anyone or agreeing with anyone, but just like EVERYTHING ELSE in life, the choice is yours. But you're running out of time to come up with something better and so this is it. Wear it or don't.
Not everyone lives where you have to worry if you're in a gang or if you're gay or if you're different from others. Some of us live where you can wear the color you want and be who you want to be. Lucky? Maybe. But not ignorant. The tone of some of the posts are borderline to me and I KNOW some will get their panties bunched over my post, but don't for one second think I don't know what's going on in the world. But I also know that it's my choice. And if I agree, I wear it. And if I don't, I don't.
Simple.........
PS... being involved in law enforcement is great but not all of our neighborhoods are the same. It's up to the parents to monitor their kids clothing. If you don't want them to wear it, then don't let them. I could throw out the "law enforcement" card too, but knowing better means just making more educated choices. Wear it at the competition and no where else. That's not too hard to do, is it? I'm sorry to the people who put so much time and effort in to designing the shirt. I'm sure no one intended to degrade your design. I, for one, like that it's different and will stand out. And I would let my child wear it AT THE COMPETITION.
And this is only MY opinion. It means NOTHING. I know I'm going to get it. Ok, so shoot away, I'm ready..... (no pun intended)
