Next to Cheersport, my favorite competition in seven years of all star cheer has been Jamfest. We are not going this year but hope we attend again in the future. We were excited to see the partnership between Jamfest and GSSA. As for Jammie, he kind of scared us (from seeing him on line) before we saw him in person. When we saw him last year in Long Beach, he was not as bad (our 10-11 year olds kind of liked him--don't know what the older kids thought). However, I don't really think Jamfest needs Jammie, their competitions would be still be great without him.
I am sure we have done this before (as I drove home today from USA/Anaheim, I had a lot of time to think about what competitions I like/don't like and why) but I am going to start a topic on Favorite/Least Favorite Competitions. Even though it was a successful weekend for our program...USA Nationals will fall under one of my "Least Favorite."
I think that's a great idea, I was going to do the very same thing. At the end of the season when we're all basically through with Nationals, it would be great for someone to post or maybe do a poll of favorite and least favorite competitions, and maybe list specifically what you didn't like about them. It frustrates me that there are so many choices that often times there aren't as many in a division to compete against, so IMO it would be nice if more gyms went to the same competitions.
schedule is up -- look like there are at least 3 ~4 teams in each division. Dance is non-exisistent (ha -- H/S teams only) -- we were suppose to go, but because no one was going, the boss lady decided to head over to Americian Championship.
OC Mom, Mom of 5 great kids! A cheerleader/softball player, a RETIRED cheerleader, a football/baseball player, 1 Airman and future Police Officer and one college student!
At JamFest, they announced the current standings and points. I didn't take notes cause I thought I was going to DIE. I wanted to get home soooooo badly. It took me 2 1/2 hours to do a 45 minute drive. It was horrible. I think it's getting worse too. But I will be there tomorrow. I don't think I will stay for the entire thing though. I am feeing so horrible as it is. Em will be there the entire day to support a friend who is on her high school team as well as OC. I will let you know what I do find out.

cheerforce alcatraz won in large senior 5. they changed their opening stunt today (sunday) .. not ripple heel stretches .. just another stunt sequence. seemed kinda weird to me b/c i was used to seeing the ripple. i thought power large level 5 was amazinggggggg. but this is the first time i've seen them and i've seen alcatraz a couple times already so maybe thats why i was more impressed with power. but cf has amazingg tumbling. cf diamondz got grand champs. pacific coast won in small senior 4 .. 2nd was pride athletics lions and 3rd was power. victory cheer's small junior 3 is officially undefeated for the whole season :) small senior 2: 1st-athletic perfection. 2nd - power (forgot which one). 3rd- pacific coast; large senior 2: 1st-victory. 2nd-OC. 3rd- cheerforce
What a great competition, the judging was right on. In my opinion the TOMBSTONZ stole the show but they were nothing in comparission to the special needs teams! I had to wire my jaw back into place after that Aprilfools joke though! The Diamondz really had me going. A fantastic performance by all! See everyone at WORLDS.
OMG Diamondz came out to perform and immediately things started going wrong. The kids looked confused, there were falls and crashes and it was a total train wreck! This just couldn't be happening, even at practice it never had. Shortly, coach Shawn and another coach, Dave? (it was hard to tell cause they were wearing huge afro wigs...) jumped on stage and stopped the performance. As the kids were ushered off the stage, the announcer said, "Oh, BTW, APRIL FOOLS!" or something like that. then they came back out and performed their grand championship performance. It was unbelieveable that they pulled that off. BRATS! LOL And Alcatraz ends their performance season undefeated! Congrats to them!
It was so funny!!!!! You could hear the crowd gasping at the mistakes! The parents should have all known when Kiara busted her pass, I mean when does that ever happen? That little girl is amazing. You can see the CF owners laughing at the parents in the viewing area after and I believe filming the reaction on their faces during it. With the judges knowing the plan, they pulled this off perfectly. Nice of Jamfest staff & judges to allow this fun to take place!! Congrats to all winners this weekend!
