i know were on the topic of passing down bids but as far as USA goes: word on the street [proX] is that every level 5 team competing at USA will get a bid... hmm.

Well, look at the list of teams. I would say that is a pretty good statement because so many of them already have partial or at large bids.

Is it too late for teams to sign-up? I think Tamara's Flyer's Elite might want a shot. It sure is good news for the teams going.

In the case of my daughter's team, since they didn't compete at a USA regional, they need to go through pre-lims.
We didn't either, but we video qualified.
Teams in prelims have to score 80 points. I know nothing about their scoring system, but I would guess that most would make it and go to semi-finals. The 25% only going to finals seems harsh, though.

West Coast Extreme (was at GSSA, waiting to her Oregon comp results)
American Cheer (was at GSSA, AT LARGE UCA)
Pro Spirit (@ Large NCA, PAID America's Best)
Pyramids (prelims) @ Large GSSA
Well, this competition will continue to get interesting. American just received At Large bid from UCA and Pro Spirit just received PAID BID from America's Best.

I thought these new penalties were interesting. Actually, I thought a good number of competitions already had deductions for appropriateness, maybe the newness is that it's more set in stone. I can't tell you how many times I've heard the swear word edited out of cheer music this year, so it will be interesting to see how many deductions are received (not that I'll have any idea if they were or not). Also, I think "hip thrusting" can definitely be up to the judges discretion.
D. Uniform Distractions – NEW! NEW! NEW!
The Penalty Judge or Head Judge reserves the right to stop a routine, assess a deduction, and/or disqualify a team for a uniform distraction (e.g. garment not being securely fastened/attached, straps break, pants split, etc.). Each performer is required to take the necessary steps to avoid inappropriate exposure prior to the performance. If a judge stops the routine the penalty will vary from 3 points to possible disqualification of the routine.
III. APPROPRIATENESS OF CHOREOGRAPHY, MUSIC, OUTFITTING – NEW! NEW! NEW!
All facets of a performance or routine, including choreography, music selection and outfitting, should be suitable for family viewing and listening. Uniforms for all team types should be appropriate for the age of the participants performing the routine.
Deductions will be given for vulgar or suggestive choreography, which includes, but is not limited to, movements such as hip thrusting and inappropriate touching, gestures, hand/arm movements and signals, slapping, positioning of body parts and positioning to one another. Deductions will be given for music or words unsuitable for family listening, which includes, but is not limited, to swearwords and connotations of any type of sexual act or behavior, drugs, mention of specific parts of the body torso, and/or violent acts or behavior. Removing improper language or words from a song and replacing with sound effects or other words constitutes inappropriate, and deductions will be made accordingly.
Any uniform or music in which the appropriateness is questionable or with which uncertainty exists should be submitted to the USA for approval.

Thank goodness for the "appropriate rule". I wish all companies would adopt such a rule. There was a very UNIQUE performance at a competition in January where the girls were dressed as officers and inmates and the officers beat the inmates with props in addition to several suggestive movements. This was done during the youth/school half of the day so I am not sure if many of you guys had the chance to see it. But performances like this should not be seen by minors:)
