Enough is enough

We have been at the same gym for 4 years now. The program is pretty good. The cheerleaders are so fierce. The only concern we have is that we have a cheer mom in our program that just seems to bring everyone down. Initially we just ignored it but it is getting out of control. You think she (this mom) is is the owner of the gym. She tells everyone what to do. She is always complimenting only her daughter. She seems to live through her daughter. She does work hard and gives her time, which is important because our owner is very busy with other personal stuffl.. So it is hard for us to complain. As a mother of 2 I dont agree in her ethical practices. She speaks negatively about other teams and programs. I dont think this is necessary, I dont know what to say. All I know is that it is making me think twice before enrolling my girls again. I have mentioned it to the owner without trying to complain and she does not seem to see eye to eye. Our girls have been told not to speak to girls on other teams by this mom. This mom talks so badly about others i dont want my girls to be part of this. I tell them to just ignore it. Not all adults act like adults. She is just a mom why does she have so much authority. Is this the same for all gyms, is this normal. My friend in Las Vegas said they have a mom just like ours. Do all gyms have one? My girls dont want to leave because of their friends. Now I hear at the end of the season many are leaving because of this mom. Nobody wants to be the bearer of bad news to the owner. The owner needs to be informed otherwise it is going to bring down our gym and we are a small gysm and I would hate to see this happen. Does anyone have any thoughts on how you as a mom, a cheerleader or a gym owner would handle. Please keep this positive. It is not meant to become negative. Just want some honest opinions.

You have to do what’s best for yourself and your family. Don’t worry about all the other stuff, you know what’s best for your family and if you don’t enjoy it, then leave. I am the type of parent that isn’t going to follow another family or “idea”, I am just going to go with what I feel is the right choice.

I positively agree with you. I just hate to see such a great gym with great potential walk away because of a few problems.  I would love to see it worked out. It is good to know how others feel.

This is the statement you made that would convince me to leave and find another gym. I ran into a similar situation, the response of the gym owner...that family was asked to leave because the parent was so disruptive and there was no change in behaviour.

I hope things work out for you and your family. And find a gym that loves cheerleading as much as your daughter does! If the owner can't listen, then it's time to say siyanara. Or however you spell that!!!
