Good luck to everyone at Spirit Spectacular today. And don't forget to get back on the message board and give results before you start watching the Super Bowl!
Looking forward to the YouTube videos Danny.

What a great event! Great teams, great friends and a good time! I do not have all the results, just my divisions...so here it goes:
Small Junior 2
1. Cheer Xplosion 2. Airborne ( Normally competes youth 2....I am so proud of these ladies, holding there own in an older division) 3. AP B team 4. UCF 5. Ap A team
Small Senior 4
1. Power 2. Airborne ( Its our Junior 4 team, but no one was in there division and we bumped them up to get them ready for Spirit Sports....awesome job ladies!) 3. AP - such pretty flexibilty in the elite section! 4. Cheer Xplosion - did not see the routine....always a great opening with strong tumbling! 5. UCF - Normally competes Senior 3 and did a great job at this level
* To me this was the best division of the day. Everyone hit great routines!
Senior 2
1. Power 2. Power 3. Ap 4.Airborne - Awesome job for being together for only 5 practices! You rock!
Our Senior Coed 3 was in there own division and our Senior 4/5 exhibitioned to get ready for Dallas! Great job to everyone! I am so proud to say that I coach all of you! Thanks for being so great!
Thanks Danny, Morton and Jason and all of the cheergyms staff for putting on a great event! We will be back next season!
While I don't have the results, I thought I'd give a run down on the competition itself. Overall it was a very good comp.
Lighting - good, sound level - good, free schedule - good, division dividing - good, videotaping and photography allowed - good, designated spectator viewing area - good, music choices in between performances - good.
As I've stated before, I would prefer free entrance, but if charging is the way too go, I've come to realize that 6 - 12 should be half, then 5 and under free. Too much time between performances, I really wish I knew exactly what happens when judging, then maybe I would understand why the time is needed. Also, I wish there was some way around the venue food, maybe set up street vendors outside the venue...yeah, I know wishful thinking...how expensive would competitions be then?
Oh! and who on earth did that announcer think he was? Giving me life tips between every performance...UGH!! Bring back Mr. WWF.
Overall I was also happy at this comp. I really can't hink of any real complaints. I think maybe too much time was set aside for each team, so waiting for the next time slot did drag.
I thought all the teams did well.
All American: I was so proud!!!!!!
Seeing John get out and dance with Power still puts a smile on my face. You ROCK!
Nelson would be so proud of my hubby: He did not once today park our oversized SUV in a compact parking space... He merged onto the freeway correctly... He used the far left lane for passing only... He used his blinkers whenever changing lanes or making a turn...
I have to say that the most amusing parts of Nelson's tangents were the look on Ray's face and Jeremy holding his head in his hands: Priceless!
Thank you so much Nelson for the driving tips: all things I have tried to tell my hubby before!
To Danny, Morton and Jason, and all who pulled this together: thanks!

I totally agree with your selection of best division of the day. Senior level 4 was amazing! Each team did perform great routines! POWER - excellent job! Power has incredible tumbling! And those flyers are amazing! AIRBORNE - Jrs moving up to challenge the seniors. Way to go! It's no wonder you went for it. Your girls can tumble just like a senior team. AP - Love your stunting! Your teams are always extra clean. Cute uniforms. CX - wow another gym with some amazing tumblers. Yeah for UCF! Glad to see a gym challenge their squads late in the season.
This could be the top 5 level 4 teams in Nor Cal. WAY TO GO!
CX - your jr level 2 is still rocking it out! Way to go! There will be no stopping you the rest of the season. What's the rest of your season look like?
POWER - tiny team that opens with the hand stand forward rolls, amazing stuff! To think that you all are just tinys. Love it!
UCF - that mini routine is just too cute! Great job little one!
Power, you are amazing and John you were the perfect end to a long day!
Airborne & Rebels - we love you guys!!
The rest of the teams were amazing too.
Thanks for the compliments on our Senior team, they went into today's competition undefeated, so we thought we would strectch them to level 4. Unfortuantly not even half of the girls have level 4 tumbling but we were so proud, they hit a nice solid routine - no dropped stunts. We were proud of them and man, did they have some SERIOUS competition.
Our mini team is still undefeated!!! Love those girls!
I thought the competition was great, a little drawn out in some parts but overall pretty organized.
Oh! one other thing I witnessed and wanted to give kudos to: John, from Power, tracking down the kids from his program and telling them to get out of the aisles and sit while a performance was going on. Thank you, from a mother sitting in the top section with a bobbin' head tryin' to see past those walking by.
And, for the record, Nelson, the announcer at Spirit Spectacular, is the program director at my daughter's gym and I was just giving him a hard time. I thought he did a good job.

Oh my goodness. I can't believe that Morton gave up his announcer job to Nelson. Did someone get videos of this? I think I would have missed the Super Bowl just to see Nelson announce! Please give us a YouTube!

That was hilarious!!! Did his own staff not even know??? He did great! I remember when he used to be on their open team years ago, they were so good then!! Good job JOHN!
I agree, this is one too watch many a times! Can't wait for it to be on youtube so I can see it super sized! I also can't believe that it took the video being posted for anyone to mention this. I'm so bummed that I was there and missed this.

Actually no one knew except the team. The Large Senior 5 team is getting ready to go to Atlanta and have only competed against one team the enitre team. John got together with Stephanie Shouse the night before the competition to learn the dance. They decided that it would be a great incentive to have a great performance. Steph then had a team meeting with all of the girls before their warm-up time and informed them of the plan. A stuck routine and John would be dancing with them. ( we had an open spot for the weekend due to an injury). The girls were so excited to be in on a joke with John. It was GREAT !!!! Talked to John several times today and needless to say he is SORE !
Sounds like it was a fun competition with lots of great performances. I love watching the level 4 division, it seems to always have a lot of competition with no room for errors. Can't wait to see the videos and the scores.
