Yea, I agree there too. But everything is dangerous. Swimming, skateboarding, roller hockey, sky diving, CHEERLEADING (gasp!). There is a common denominator though. Common sense. Unfortunatly, those who don't have it are the ones who ruin it for everyone else. I've actually had my daughter fall directly ON TO the net and it held her up GREAT. But what's funny is, even her coach laughs at her about this, she HATES the tumble track. She will tumble on the rod floor and the regular floor, but NOT the tumble track. He trys to force her but she will not. She says it's cause she can't control the way she lands and is afraid to get hurt (again). Funny how she won't tumble on the tumble track but likes to "play" on it.
I guess when you get to a certain level of tumbling, your body knows when it's not right. It's a false sense of security because you can get such height. You know you can just bounce yourself over, instead of controlling yourself and learning to do things right. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that the tumble track isn't a good tool. It actually is because kids learn to tumble backwards without getting hurt by falling. But I just don't think the tumble track or the trampoline are good places to do advanced tumbling and LAND on the surface. That's the reason for tumbling OFF of the tumble track to land. On the trampoline, you can't do that.
I guess just common sense is in order for trampolines. You wouldn't dive in to the shallow end, but a kid would. They don't know better unless a parent makes the rules..... AND STICKS TO THEM.

I really hate the enclosers it makes you feel all blocked in and like your going to kick the side everytime you go over. Falling off the trampoline isnt really that bad either as long as they are falling on grass and not cement. Falling off is like when a baby touches a hot stove, it hurts them to where they never want to do it again and its the same on a tramp. Once you fall off once you wont make that mistake again for at least a long time. Trampolines are really alot of fun even if your kid dosn't cheer. They arn't as bad and dangerous as they are made out to be on here and if you got the money then go for it. You can really do so much on them, and if your childs on it enough and learns how to use it then they could get really good.

"I hate the Tumble Trak". Classic! Famous last words of a jenky single full with bad wrists and ankles.

It has been my experience that 9 out of 10 athletes that learn a full twisting layout with a spotter on the floor as apposed to without a spotter on a tumble trak get stuck with a bad technique full with no chance of advancing further.
The 1 out of 10 is the lucky one who has a coach that is willing to spot them 20 times a day 3 days a week correcting their technique for at least 2 months. That's assuming they have a perfect layout when they start.
Even then the athlete takes on crazy wear and tear to their joints.
Thanks for the tip. I'm not her coach so I guess what I say doesn't matter. Besides, she's not learning her full, so I guess I will wait till she does. Last summer she was learning her full but she twisted her knee so badly, she was out for 4 weeks. And it was on the tumble track. Maybe that's why she hates it.
But we have enough coaching staff to spot kids those 20 times a day if need be. So I think she would be ok if she HAD to stay off the tumble track.
