I would like to say that the team that I enjoyed watching the most this weekend, (other than my own baby) was a level 4 team! Pacific Coast. Their senior level 4. I spoke with a few super nice parents. I wish them much luck as they seem like they will soon be a power house in cali!
PC is definitely going to be a powerhouse in upcoming years. I do hope they go level 5 next season. I was talknig to a girl that is on their level four all girl team after the Spirit Sports Duel in the Desert competition this past weekend in Palm Springs and she said that her team was supposed to be level 5, but that they decided to go level four due to not having as many fulls as they'd like to have. So maybe next season!!!

Off topic - but since OC mom and Fierce Coach told their stories, I'll tell mine.
When my daughter was 8 or 9 we were at a party. Someone had made jello shots, and had leftovers which she had put into a bowl, which was sitting on the counter.
I was getting some food from the buffet on the counter and my daughter tells me "Don't take any jello Mom, it tastes terrible!!"
OC Mom, Mom of 5 great kids! A cheerleader/softball player, a RETIRED cheerleader, a football/baseball player, 1 Airman and future Police Officer and one college student!
Back to the subject of Grand Chmpions... When I initiallly read the details of the awards, on the Spiritsports info page, they indicated that there would only be one Grand Champion, the highest score of the competition. That team would be awarded ringtop pendants exclusively. However, my guess is that Spiritsports probably did not want to give the paid bid to a seinior team that scored behind a JR team, so to save face, they created a 2nd Grand Champion. Smart move for all involved considering the alternative.
CFAN Whats the point in stating that . True or not true it will only stir up negativity on the boards. We all need to be focusing on this weekend and put palm springs behind us.
Now everybody get ready for an INCREDIBLE CHEER WEEKEND and bring those laptops and keep us informed. GOOD LUCK TO ALL CALIFORNIA TEAMS COMPETING FOR THOSE BIDS.
California...why would that question cause a problem? I seriously want to understand how this all works! You make it sound as if something shady happened and I don't think that is the case. What makes that question a problem or something that would cause bad blood?
I think what california is trying to say is drop the topic already. CFAN was just bringing up a point that doesnt really matter anymore. Im not trying to sound rude or anything, but it doesn't really matter if they said originally 1 team to recieve grand champion, and then gave two; If they decided to award another team good for them. That team probably worked hard, and they deserved it. Its not like they said they were awarded 5 Grand champions then only awarded 2. Its not like the ripped the other team off or anything right?
Of course, I wasn't there and I don't truely know what went on. But I see california's point with wanted to drop the "grand champion" battle and talk about this weekend. New weekend, New comp!
I know all of the california teams are going to be great! I cant wait to hear updates from Atlanta and Dallas!
I always wonder why some people feel a need to trop a topic? If awards were given by division, youth got screwed out of theirs. I feel like I am really missing something, what is really going on here???
Okay this is what I know ... In the past Spirit Sports has ONLY awarded 1 grand champion. This is always the team with the highest score of the competition . This year that would have been ALCATRAZ. Soooo Some of us are wondering "out loud " Why this year did they decide to award 2. Even the website never mentioned that they had changed their mind and decided to award 2 this year. Anyways congratulations to Cheerforce and California allstars you both threw AMAZING and ACTION PACKED routines.
It actually looks like the Grand Champion award should have gone to the CF Glacierz based on the scores posted out there! LOL!
There the only team out there that I remember getting a a standing ovation and they brought tears to my eyes!!!! What a wonderful program to support the special needs children.
P.S. Good Luck to all the California teams this weekend!!!!!!!
His mommy, I... was getting ready to paint my toes. So I put the bottle of purple nail polish on the kitchen counter, next to his high chair. What did I do? I put him in it, not thinking... "Hmm my son is 10 months old, anything he can wrap his little fingers around... is never good." Nope, didn't think it once. He picked it up, shook it once, and threw it across the room. Can you say...AHHHHHH.... loud enough so that China can hear it? I DID. It broke, and splattered EVERYWHERE. Not to mention I had to be at the gym five minutes from that time. I grabbed polish remover and was literally on my hands and kness for about 45 minutes, scrubbing my shoulders off, and the tile, to get rid of that horrible purple disaster. All I could see when I was staring deeply into that purple was Barney. YUCK. I hated Barney as a kid... couldn't stand him... and it was all I could think about. And then I got so mad... Why was I ever going to paint my toes purple in the first place? EWWWWW. Needless to say, I threw out every bottle of purple nail polish the next day! Oh, and, I took paint off my wall from the polish remover, ruined some wood in my kitched, took out the sealer off my grout, and still have random nightmares of purple. Sorry, but I will never look at a purple all star team the same way anymore.... not even Spirit of Texas. :(
