Good luck to everyone at this Saturday's event! Let us know what you think about COA when you return.
Starstuck: You are going to do fantastic this weekend. Looks like your oldest dance team needs a challenger. Maybe, the Royals can change their category from Exhibition to actually compete at this competition. It would be really fun to see your oldest against their oldest compete for the National title.
Cheer Starz: Looks like you wowed them at Athletic Championships. Looks like you are going to be quite the contender this weekend. Work it!
CSE: Saw you at the CheerSport event. I really like your uniforms. You gals have the engery to give those judges what they will be looking for.
Royals: Good luck this weekend. I haven't seen you perform for some time now. But i am hearing good things about you. I'm so glad you get to actually "compete" at a National event this time around.
Ultimate: Wishing you the best! You're team took home a grand championship trophy. Hopefully, you can make it back-to-back victories.
Galaxy: Your Jr. Team is over due to win a title. Stay together and it could be a close battle .
To all those that compete in the specialized areas, such as, stunt groups, individuals: An extra big wish goes out to you. Not may people realize the extra amount of time - from you and your coaches - put in to be successful on the floor. Oh and did I say the EXTRA money. Good luck to everyone!
To all the other gyms that are attending this event: Good luck to everyone!!!
To CheerWatcher -- I haven't shared which gym I'm with cuz (insert the thing about my views being my own not my gym's here...). I have a daughter cheering with one gym and two nieces who cheer for two other gyms, so it's a big part of our family. I try to attend as many competitions as I can. It's time consuming but I love it.
Sorry if I missed it, but did you say which gym you are with? If not, I completely understand. I think it's nice some of us can still be Anonymous Arlenes.
Good luck to those competing Saturday and Sunday! And uh... go Colts!

agreed! I totally feel the same exact way, I just couldn't remember if you had shared or not! No worries
Hey yall, I'm a coach at Ultimate and I hate to make a fuss... but I have NEVER seen such a poorly run event. First off, they didn’t have spotters for the cheer divisions. The reason for this was “Our spotters bailed out on us for Super Bowl Parties, guess a six pack was more important than this.” I couldn’t believe this.. because the game is on Sunday… The warm up matt times were all off, my senior level 2 team got a 10 point deduction for a coach spotting a stunt that was shaky, the stunt recovered but they were penalized for a spotter “assisting a mount”. Our senior coed level 4 team was docked 3 points for “boxer shorts being partly visible” (what is this? Stick It?!) And to top it all off, two boys and about 6 girls from a level 2 senior team competed with “program A” then went to the restroom changed into “program B” uniform and competed in a senior level 4 division with a completely different company… I can understand crossovers from within your own company but to Squad Hop? When this was brought up to the officials they said this was within the COA rules and nothing can be done. I am never coming back to a COA event. And I am writing a very long letter to the personal relations department. Last I knew COA was part of the USASF and last I knew an athlete competing with, lets say Top Gun can not change and cheer on Georgia right after… but according to COA, they look the other way… Welcome to Cheaters Of America!
actually CJ, there is nothign that says that you cannot cross compete gyms..eventhough its clearly wrong.. i know of gyms that do it and people personally on them. Liek some kids from Gymtyme also xompete with Kentucky Elite, the only excedptioon is that u cannot compete in the same division from two different prgrams. so say i was on TopGun large coed .. i could also compete on Brandon Allstars small coed..because one is large and one is small. it sucks but it happens. Of course at worlds it is prohibited
Point of fact: Many cheer competitions have either done away with spotters completely or are in the process of doing so.
I personally like this as sometimes lazy spotters or spotters who get caught up in the routine tend to get in the way of tumbling runs. However, the skipping for a superbowl party thing shows no class and horrific professionalism. I'm astonished that anyone running a competition would say anything of the sort. My mom told me to never lie but a little white lie can sometimes save your skin.
Just my opinion though, so take it for what it's worth.

Although many companies have done away with spotters, I don't think its safer. They only do this because of insurance reasons, not because its safer. Every event I see more and more kids hitting their necks, backs, or falling crazy. Yes teams should go out there and catch their kids, but cheerleading is a risk taking sport and you should want to be on the safest side when possible.
I do agree with CJ that the event was unorganized in warms ups and awards. Some awards weren't even announced correctly and the staff didn't seem to know what was going on. Liked the banners and gifts they gave the kids though.

Yesterday, I was impressed at the sportsmanship ULTIMATE girls displayed. My daughter's team (CSE) was behind ULTIMATE and a few of the girls asked us what our chant was so they could say with us. This is our first year so, it felt really good to get support from another team. Thanks a cse parent

yes CJ you are only speaking the truth!!! so I was at the comp. and watched both level four co-ed teams & it did seem like i had seen a few other boys & girls from other teams on the mat again in a new uniform but it was a L0NG day so I thought it was only my eyes. Speaking of theACE All Stars. so A stunt came down and re-tired three times to get back up & just couldn't stick it. Seems like the pyramids just couldn't stick at all. tumbling could have been a little cleaner but then again the tumblers were a little tired from the previous performance. And now for the boxer vs. stomach issue. So yes i could've seen your boy's boxers but who is to say that it wasn't a pair of your teams L0VELY ZEBRA spankies? would it be wrong if boys could have spankies on and not show them? hmmmm.... & a boy on the ACE All Stars seems like his uniform was just a little too small and a few measurements were off at the fitting & his shell just couldn't stay down. I would rather see a pair of ZEBRA SPANKiES then a un-toned stomach hanging out of a non-fitted uniform. N0W F0R ULTiMATE from start to finish i saw a GREAT PERF0RMANCE! at the beginning of the routine i saw a double down cradle get a little rocky at the catch but non-the-less stuck. your girls and guy sure know how to put on a show. There new dance is AMAZiNG! tumbling stuck with out any stumbles from my side of the stands. & it seemed like you guys have mastered the art of your pyramid & stuck it with a new full down at the end. This is one of the few times I have seen your co-ed team stick all of the the routine full out. (yes I watch your team closely b.c. i feel it will soon build into a GREAT PROGRAM!)
I dont plan on attending COA next season & hearing about this just makes it that much more worth not going! Hope to see your company for years to come!

I agree, that the scoring seems wack from what you guys have written .. but aren't you from UA as well? I cant help but notice your name as well as your signature. Its okay that you think they should have won, but don't pretend that your a annonymous spectator .. Hopefully you dont take that the wrong way. If this is the same ACE team (red sparkles and blue with crop top uniforms) I'm surprised that they won quite frankly. I saw them at athletic and they were a MESS!! MOST of their stunts fell as well as they're pyramid and several falls and touch downs on tumbling. I've never seen them before that day. Now if everything panned out like you said ( amazing performance minus the one shaky cradle) then there is no reason why you should have lost. Sorry COA was so bad to you!
I agree that this is not my favorite competition. There was alot of room for improvement. I have to say that the program that impressed me the most was Starstuck. All thier teams did great and they won Grand Champion. Now I didn't know this until after the competition when we ran into some of thier team when we went out to dinner and they were wearing thier COA grand champion jackets. This was because during the awards everyone left after the winners in thier divisions were announced. By the time the last award was given out stands were almost empty. I've never seen that before at a competition. We always stayed until the awards were over. Felt sorry for the last teams left with hardly anyone left to clap and cheer for them. It was just wierd... I do have to say everyone was extremely friendly. I saw nothing but good sportsmanship among all the teams.

yes i use to be on Ultimate but due to injuries I can no longer perfrom & haven't performed with them in two seasons & just show up to comps. as a spectator to watch b.c. I also do l0VE cheer & a cheer watch such as yourself. I only wish i could be on ultimate again and perform with them in these past seasons they have improved S0 well. & yes ACE was the correct team...(NJSE uniform.)

I disagree about the safety issue. I think it is safer to have spotters that know the routine, then having people in there blind. I have seen more competition supplied spotters get in the way, than I have seen them help. This is assuming that a team was able to supply their own spotters.
.Can I make a suggestion? Please make your font larger. For some reason, I can barely see it!!! Oh Lord, I am ollllldddddddd.....

I will say that this is the 1st event that we attended that all the programs were VERY supportive of one another. I think Ultimate, Starstruck, and SAC all stars come to mind first. They were positive in warm ups and while walking around. It really helped our program out and I think we were very grateful in return. The past competitions, there was more tension and didn't seem as motivating. Just an observation.
