Congradulations to all the teams that performed. I agree about the long breaks between each team performing. But my big complaint was the lights that kept shining into the crowd. Now at first I thought wow neat effects. By the end of the day I was ready to throw something at them. We are talking major headache here. In all I enjoyed the day very much. I'm very proud of our teams (Go Spirit!), and really enjoyed watching the teams from Power. Also have to give props to Cheer Explosions Junior level 2 team, and I think it was Pyramids Senior Level 5 they each performed great. One team that impressed me was the Oak Ridge Trojans because I love watching them throw those flyers so high. Loved Pyramids Tiny or Mini team. Go Angelina! Finally got to see you out on that floor. Congratulations you go girl.
I had a great time at Cheersport this past weekend, and our teams did really well. I thought that POWER Level 5's (Large Senior and Junior) were A-mazing to watch -- their tumbling and stunting were crazy good.
I also really liked the dance piece from POWER Large Senior 5 -- well done!
And I agree -- the effects in the beginning were cool, but eventually I tired of the lights shining in my face every five minutes. *snort*
I guess Im most surprised about the senior level 3 division. I saw CWT at athletic and they didnt look too hot, they had major drops both days. But good for them, maybe they just had a hard weekend! How is club spirit doing this year? I saw they got last in this category. And they have a senior 5 team? I dont ever recall them having that level in years previous .. can anyone shed a little light?
CSE Mom, I loved your comments about the lights, and I agree 100%, they got annoying real fast. I had a great day all in all and I hope that we do it again next season.
There have been arguements for and against having free admission to competitions vs. upping the per cheerleader fees, and I have to say after yesterday I am 100% for upping the fees but letting us get in for free, and here is why. It was SOOOOOO NICE to be able to just walk in! No lines! I have been to UOP for numerous cheer competitions, and if you have to get there early, you know how the lines are.
The whole competition had such a nice relaxing feel to it ... we didn't have to hide in the corner to videotape, we could bring in as many family members as we wanted, and the people running it seemed very friendly and definitely tried to make it all about good sportsmanship. There were a couple times I thought the judging was a bit off in that teams that had numerous drops seemed to place higher than cleaner routines, but other than that the judging seemed fair to me. I was impressed with Cheer With A Twist (their Jr. Level 2 and Senior Level 3 teams). 720 and Cheer Xplosion's level 4 teams looked the best I have seen them look so far. POWER's level 4 team was awesome, so clean. And POWER's level 5 teams were amazing as usual and so much fun to watch. Enjoyed Pyramid's Level 5 team and their Level 3 Coed (the best I've seen them perform). It's fun to see these teams getting stronger, I can't wait for Nationals!
Thought I'd comment about senior level 3 division -- Cheer With A Twist looked really good; POWER looked good but had at least one drop (it was not their cleanest routine). I had CWAT winning that one and was happy I was right for once.
Club Spirit started the season at America's Best with Sr Level 4 team but at Jamfest in SF they competed Small Sr 5 team. I think they've stated somewhere on this message board that they are Level 4/5 hoping to end the season as Level 5 depending on how they progress.

Well good for them. I like teams that really try and push themselves rather than just have an easy out in a lower division. Hopefulle they continue to improve andhave a strong lv5 team soon!
Does anyone know where they'll be next or maybe someone from club spirit is a member here? I'd love to see where I can check them out! (I know they'll be in palm springs)
Cheerwatcher, A good way to find out comps that teams will be attending is to visit their websites. They may not have a list of competitions but sometimes they have a list of release forms that kids have to complete. This is a good way to "find" out where they will be next.
