Lets call it who can be the "Best of the Worst"....

what?

Not only was that a cruel and rude comment, but it was untrue. Didn't Starstruck just beat POWER in the level 4 division? Best of the worst, hardly.

No kidding! Spoken like someone who hasn't seen any of these teams yet this season.

Skills, but not routines

Well I thnk some of those teams listed have good skills this year, but not exciting routines or vice versa. I know one thing, many teams need to work on presentation and looking the part. It adds to the overall impression of the routine.

Well, I guess you haven't been to any major competitions this season. Have you only been attending USA comps?

Starstuck, Cheer Odyssey, and Airborne are really fun to watch this season.

This should be a great competition!

Can anyone make some positive comments on this board. Now we are being talked about for the choices made on our schedule. The Jamz comp at the Cow Palace is on our schedule as it is the closest one to our area were friends and family can come to watch. We have no control over who will be there. I like the fact that we don't have to be there til the evening. I am not a moring person.

great competition

No need to apologize or make excuses; taking a look at the schedule it looks like it will be a great competition with talented teams attending. There have been far worse attending competitions that people on this board rave about, so I would ignore the negative comments. Have a good time, and good luck to you.

best of the worst? RUUUDE!!!

RUUUDE. California gyms and cheerleaders are always sooo critical and never supportive. Whoever said that probably comes from a gym that can't keep their atheletes, because all those programs mentioned are previous small gyms that just keep on growing and getting better. Half of them have strong level 5 teams as well as other (1-4) strong level teams that from what i know competed with the best in nor cal and beat them, hands down. Good luck to everyone competing; Dont let some lame downer ruin all the fun of competition and building good team relations. NOTE TO POSTER OF NEGATIVE COMMENTS: get over yourself

So what team are you from so we can see what presentation and looking the part looks like??

Why

Date:

Why is it when anyone says anything critical, you guys jump on them say it is negative. Sorry your in COMPETITIVE cheerleading, so you should expect to be criticized on a daily basis. You are judged everytime you walk on stage and walk in the gym. If you can't take the criticism, then maybe you should grow a thicker skin. Nobody said anything rude, just comments that will help the programs get stronger. It kinda sucks winning all these regionals in Nor Cal and competing nationally and not placing well. Stop being sensitive and open up your eyes to new ideas.

No, you need a dictionary. There is a HUGE difference between being critical and being rude and negative. Being critical is saying something that is not necessarily good, but is helpful - such as "Team X needs to clean up their motions and work on rotating their jumps." Saying something like "this competition should be called the best of the worst" is rude and negative and helps no one. If you can't see the difference, your parents should be spoken with concerning how you were raised and the attitude instilled in you. There is a huge difference.

one person says a rude comment

then another says it's not rude

then another brings in the "your parents didnt raise you right" argument

you guys are hysterical

what's next, "yo mama wears army boots?"

I love this message board. Abound with extreme thoughts and extreme statements. And it all boils down to "how rude you are" and "how smart and right I am." Sounds like daily life on the freeway!

Ok, I'm cutting you all off now. I have somewhere better to go than you do!

no sr level 5 girls

Date:

Looking at the jamz schedule, I don't see any sr level 5 teams (all girl). Seems like we used to have quite a few. Do you think that has changed since the introduction of level 4?

fewer teams

Date:

It looks like there are not that many teams competing at this comp this year. A lot of teams competing by themselves. I may be wrong but aren't there usually more teams than this??

Jamz in norcal doesn't draw big crowds. So I'm not surprised at the low turnout.

Since the introduction of Level 1-5 there has been a big drop in all girl teams in the "advanced" division. We used to see "Advanced" teams that only had 1 or 2 kids throwing level 5 tumbling skills but had more advanced stunt skills. So they would go Advanced instead of Intermediate. But with the intro of 5 levels the teams are being more realistic about where they should compete. I think we should be watching all those level 4 teams and see how fast they move into level 5 over the years. That will show a good gym progression in my opinion.

jamz attendance

Date:

True, a lot of teams competing by themselves at level 5. Decent turnout in the lower levels though, for a Jamz regional. The problem with Jamz is that there are too many regionals. Cut the amount in half and you would have a great turnout in each. When they all meet again at Jamz Nationals there are usually a good number of teams in each division (again, moreso in the level 4 and below divisions).

levels

Date:

Agree with Cheer Watcher, we'll see how many level 4's advance to level 5. There are a few that have mentioned moving up, but until they go against other solid level 5 teams, hard to say how they'll do. How do you know if you've made the right move up if you're going against nobody? I guess you would have to take a look at your score and compare it with scores from other level 5 teams from other competitions. I think if a gym claims to have a level 5 team, they need to compete at level 5 to get used to throwing their new skills. It's easy to hold back and stay in a lower level, but I don't think that gains you anything. Practice makes perfect! We're a level 3 team that's trying to become a solid level 4. Baby steps...

Same Scoring

Date:

This is a good reason why it would be great if competitions used the same scoring system, and posted the results after each competition. Gyms would have an excellent idea of how their teams are doing at various levels, even if they have no competition in a particular division. They could easily look at results from other various competitions. But as we know scoring is not the same, so you probably couldn't look at the results from America's Best and compare with results from Jamz. And while America's Best posts the scores, Jamz never does.
